9. Out Dancing

The band plays upon the stage,

two fiddlers and a bass.

Jigs and reels, a polka or two.

Stars are shining on every face.

Men spin ladies round at night,

Feeling like they’ve left this life.

Sweethearts kiss beneath moonlight.

Even though the sun’s long set

For Old Joe Clark or a minuet

No one’s going home just yet.

Mischievous children steal away

From their little beds to watch and play.

As the smells of our barns and fields drift round,

We’re all out dancing to joyful sounds.
