Wanted You More

Bethany is top in her class, head-strong, and basically you're definition of a perfect girl but she has no intention of trying to be like every other girl and try to get Harry, the popular, good looking, soccer star, to like her...in fact, she doesn't really like him. But when Bethany is assigned to help Harry get his grades up and he realizes that Bethany is different than everyone else, will Bethany cave into giving Harry a chance or will she continue to stick to her idea that he is a spoiled, stuck up ass?

Bethany just said she loved me. My mouth fell open, my head was spinning, and there were butterflies through my stomach. I got off the bed and grabbed my guitar. She looked at me, confused, and I looked her in the eyes.

“I wrote this…for you. I was going to perform it at the talent show but right now seems like a better time.” I started to play and looked down at my hands, nervous.

“Ha-Harry…” She stammered, but I started playing, ignoring her.

“Girl, it should be me driving to your house, knocking on your door and kissing you on the mouth, holding on your hand, dancing in the dark because I was the only one who loved you from the start, but now when I see you with him it tears my world apart because I’ve been waiting all this time to finally say it, but now I see your heart’s been taken and nothing could be worse, baby, I loved you first. I had my chances, could've been where he is standing; that’s what hurts the most. Girl, I came so close, but now you’ll never know, baby, I loved you first. Girl, it should be me calling on your phone, saying you’re the one, and that I’ll never let you go. I never understood what love was really like, but I felt it for the first time looking in your eyes.” I stopped playing and looked up at her. She had tears in her eyes and her hands over her mouth. She threw her arms around me, surprising me.

“That was the most beautiful song, most beautiful thing that anyone has ever done for me.” She cried into my neck. I sighed, closed my eyes, and smiled. I finally did something right.

“So, what does this mean? Can I call you mine…?” I asked, hopeful as I pulled away from her. She straightened up and sighed.

“I need time Harry. I just got out of a relationship with Liam and…you didn’t make things easy on me…ever. I need to think about it.” Bethany whispered. My face fell. I felt tears forming in my eyes but quickly shook them away.

“Yeah, sure- whatever.” I said. Bethany looked down and started gathering her books up. “What are you doing?” I whispered.

“I think it’s best if we end early today.” She whispered, flinging her backpack over her shoulder.

“I’ll see you in school, Harry.” She said before hurrying out. I felt a huge knot in my stomach and it was growing. The tears came flowing out of my eyes. I finally told her how I felt and she leaves. She said it was sweet, but she still left. Was I ever going to figure her out…?
