Wanted You More

Bethany is top in her class, head-strong, and basically you're definition of a perfect girl but she has no intention of trying to be like every other girl and try to get Harry, the popular, good looking, soccer star, to like her...in fact, she doesn't really like him. But when Bethany is assigned to help Harry get his grades up and he realizes that Bethany is different than everyone else, will Bethany cave into giving Harry a chance or will she continue to stick to her idea that he is a spoiled, stuck up ass?

Includes sex, drugs, alcohol, self harm references/actions, and cursing.

27. Park

Later that evening, I had made my way down to a nearby park with Jacob. He had soccer try-outs coming up and Matthew was too busy doing homework, so he asked me to practice with him. Of course, I agreed to help him.

“Okay, you know this is a soccer ball, right?” Jacob asked as we found an open place at the park. I rolled my eyes and laughed.

“Just because I suck at soccer, doesn’t mean I don’t know the basics!” I shouted, making Jacob laugh.

“If you say so Bethany…” Jacob rolled his eyes and kicked me the soccer ball. We were kicking it back and forth for awhile when I heard someone call my name. I turned around just as Jacob kicked the ball, landing it in my gut.

“Shit…” I grumbled. Harry came running over and dropped his bag by me.

“I’m so sorry!” Harry knelt down by me. “Are you alright?”

“I’ve been through worse.” I mumbled, sitting up.

“Who are you?” Jacob asked.

“Harry; your sister tutors me.”

“Oh…what’s in the bag?”

“My soccer stuff.” Harry said. A smile broke out of Jacob’s face.

“I thought you live in the other direction…” I pointed out.

“I do…I had to bring Justin home. I was driving by and saw you and your brother, I’m going to assume.” I nodded silently. “Do you want some help, buddy?” Harry asked, turning to Jacob.

“Sure!” Jacob said happily, kicking the ball to Harry. Harry stood up, helped me up, and then turned to Jacob.

“What are we doing?” Harry asked.

“I’m trying out for goalie…can you shoot on me and I’ll try and block them?” Harry nodded and Jacob went to go stand between trees. I moved off to the side and watched the two play together.

At first, Harry went easy on Jacob but when he realized Jacob was a lot better than he thought, he started kicking the ball harder and harder. Every shot though, Jacob managed to save it. Only a couple times in the few hours we were there did Harry actually get it between the trees and most of those shots were because they were above Jacob’s head.

“Ready for this one?!” Harry called. Jacob nodded and Harry kicked it and Jacob dove to stop it. I looked down at my phone and noticed it was almost dinner time, so I had to intervene.

“Hey, guys…sorry to interrupt, but Jacob and I need to get home for dinner.” I said, walking over. They were both sweaty and covered in dirt. It actually made Harry look really attractive, and watching him play with my little brother made it even more attractive.

“Awe…but Bethany…!”

“I’ll give you guys a lift home.” Harry said, lifting his bag off the ground.

“No, really it’s fine.” I pushed.

“No, really…I will. You don’t have a choice.” Harry said, smiling at me. I sighed and finally nodded.

“Okay…” I said slowly. Harry smiled at me and we made our way to his car.

When we got to my house, he put it in park so we could get out. Jacob hopped out and went running inside, however I stayed.

“You can get out now…” Harry said, smirking at me. I looked at him and raised my eyebrows.

“I was going to say thank you for working with him. I know he really enjoyed it.”

“I did too.” Harry said. I looked down and away knowing I was going to regret what I was just about to suggest.

“You can stay for dinner if you want…” I said slowly. I looked back up at Harry and his eyebrows were raised.

“Am I allowed? I’m pretty sure this against our deal.” Harry said, still smirking.

“Like you’ve ever followed our deal from the beginning.” I said sarcastically, making Harry laugh.

“That’s very true…but sure. I’d love to join you guys for dinner as long as you don’t mind my smelliness.”

“Please…that’ll be the least of all of our worries.” Harry laughed and turned the car off. We walked inside and my family was piling food onto their plates. “Mom, Greg, Matthew; this is Harry. Jacob and I ran into him at the park and he was working with Jacob and gave us a lift home so…I offered for him to stay for dinner.”

“Is this the boy you tutor?” My mom asked. I nodded and Harry smiled nervously.

“Nice to meet you.” Harry said quietly. This was the first and only time I’ve ever seen Harry nervous or even quiet.

“Please, join us!” My mom said happily. Harry and I walked over to the counter and filled our plates up before joining everyone at the table.
