Wanted You More

Bethany is top in her class, head-strong, and basically you're definition of a perfect girl but she has no intention of trying to be like every other girl and try to get Harry, the popular, good looking, soccer star, to like her...in fact, she doesn't really like him. But when Bethany is assigned to help Harry get his grades up and he realizes that Bethany is different than everyone else, will Bethany cave into giving Harry a chance or will she continue to stick to her idea that he is a spoiled, stuck up ass?

Includes sex, drugs, alcohol, self harm references/actions, and cursing.

17. Nothing Has Changed

“I’ve missed you so much!” Liam whispered in my ear.

“I missed you too! How was America?” I asked as I let him go from our hug.

“That storm was rough…that’s why I was held there for a lot longer than I should have been.” People all around us were saying hi to Liam but he would barely acknowledge them; he kept his attention on me, making me smile. “But other than that, it was great.”

“That’s good…I missed you all summer.”

“I missed you too…we should…reconnect sometime.” Liam said, smiling. “I mean, just because we broke up doesn’t mean we still can’t…like…hang out, right?”

“Yeah, of course.” I said happily. The bell rang just then and I gasped. “I should get to class; nice seeing you, Liam.” I waved to Liam as I dashed off to class.

“Late Ms. Wacker.” Miss. Smith said.

“Sorry.” I said, still smiling as I took my seat. I was biting my lip still, thinking of all the times Liam and I had before the summer came. Not many people knew we dated because we kept it quiet since he was popular and I was just me.

Out of the popular kids, Liam Payne had to have been the nicest one. He was nice to everyone, friends with everyone, and he actually cared about his grades. He was on the cross country team, so he was constantly working out, making him look extremely fit. Here I was…slipping into a day-dream about my ex boyfriend who was only just a friend. Girls can fantasize about their ex’s…right?

Bethany was late to lesson, had nasty rumors spread about her and I, yet she was still smiling and happy. I don’t know how she knew Liam, but I sure as hell didn’t really like how they were looking at each other. It gave me a weird feeling in my stomach…almost like I was angry. I didn’t like the feeling but no matter how hard I tried, it didn’t go away.

When the bell rang, I dashed out of class and found Liam waiting outside. I was taken a little by surprise since…the bell had literally just rung.

“Hey Haz, how was your summer?” Liam asked me, all smiles.

“It was fine…” I said slowly.

“You okay…?” Liam asked, seemingly concerned.

“Liam…” Bethany said, grabbing his arm.

“Hey babe, you know Harry, right?”

“I do, but I wish I didn’t.” She said coldly. I felt that pang of pain again, wanting to jump off a cliff…or grab and kiss her; I couldn’t decide.

“Uhm…” Liam looked confused.

“You’re taking me home today, like old times, right?” She asked flirtatiously.

“Of course…nothing has changed.”

“Mostly everything hasn’t.” She giggled out.

“Okay, minus one minor detail but…come on…it’s us.” Liam said, winking at her, making her blush.

“My locker after school?”

“See you then.” Liam said as Bethany turned to walk off. “So, how do you know Bethany?” Liam asked me.

“She tutors me.” I said slowly. “How do you know her?”

“Yeah, we dated last year.” Liam stated bluntly. “She defiantly looked a hell of a lot fitter than she did last year, that’s for sure…” Liam said, all smiles.

“How so?” I asked, getting curious.

“She was beautiful, don’t get me wrong but she had a little more weight on her and whatnot. She looks a hell of a lot better. Well, it was good to see you Haz…see you at lunch.” Liam said, patting my shoulder before he walked away.
