Wanted You More

Bethany is top in her class, head-strong, and basically you're definition of a perfect girl but she has no intention of trying to be like every other girl and try to get Harry, the popular, good looking, soccer star, to like her...in fact, she doesn't really like him. But when Bethany is assigned to help Harry get his grades up and he realizes that Bethany is different than everyone else, will Bethany cave into giving Harry a chance or will she continue to stick to her idea that he is a spoiled, stuck up ass?

Includes sex, drugs, alcohol, self harm references/actions, and cursing.

11. Intrigued

Around six, when I was supposed to be leaving, I heard footsteps and people talking. I looked up and saw Harry’s eyes closed, almost like he was mentally preparing himself for something.

“Harry dear, hello!” A beautiful woman with dark, long hair came in. She dumped a bunch of suitcases on the floor and a bunch of folders all over the counter.

“Hi mom.” Harry said between his teeth.

“Who’s this?” She asked, looking at me.

“Bethany…she’s helping me with homework.”

“Are you two dating?”

“No mom.”

“I just wondered if you were his girl for the week.” The woman said, winking at me.

“I’m not a toy, but…thanks.” I said bluntly. She looked taken aback by my response but I didn’t care. “I need to leave…it’s six and don’t you have somewhere to be?” I asked as I stood up and began gathering my stuff.

“Stay for dinner.” Harry blurted out.

“I really can’t…” I said, not wanting to stay.

“Of course you will.” The woman said. “I’ll have Nella make an extra place for you! Oh, and I’m Anne by the way.” She smiled and walked off.

“What the hell Harry? We had a deal!” I shrieked. “I don’t like you, nor do I want to be with you any longer than I have to!”

“Please just…I’ll owe you big time. Anything you want, I’ll do it for you just please…do this for me?!” Harry honestly was begging me…ME for something.

“Fine…but you owe me BIG time Harry.” She said stubbornly. I sighed with relief as she dropped her backpack back down. “And I’m not doing this for you…I’m doing this because I don’t want to go home.”

Harry:

Why wouldn’t she want to go home? She has a perfect life. No one goes behind her back, no one uses her, and she’s smart, beautiful…what could possibly be so bad about where she’s from? But then again, she’s probably wondering why I begged her to stay since…in her eyes I probably have the seemingly perfect life.

Just that one sentence made me wonder so much more about her. I went back to my speech while she finished up her maths. I still couldn’t concentrate because of what she said about not wanting to go home but…what could be so bad? I didn’t understand and I really wanted to know; I wanted to get to know Bethany. There was something about her so intriguing that made me want her. I knew she would push me away if I tried anything which was why I had to play her game before I could get her to play mine…but I had to figure her game out first.

Bethany:

His mom seemed nice so I didn’t understand why he got so upset and tense when she walked into the room. I wanted to know why he got so scared all of a sudden and practically told his mom I was staying for dinner. I looked at him and he was staring at his paper without writing.

There was something about Harry. His life was seemingly perfect- with the good looks, all the girls, the rich parents…what could be so bad about his life? He never came off as someone with problems going on. He always seemed like the type of person who had things handed to him.

There as defiantly something more about him that I didn’t know. Suddenly, this whole tutoring thing didn’t seem so bad. I wanted to get to know Harry…I want to know why he’s like this and if that means I have to tutor him to get him on the soccer team, then so be it. I want to know what he’s all about.

I don’t know why I have a sudden interest in him but I knew he intrigued me. He made me want to get him to know him better. Although, I couldn’t let him know I was doing that so I had to play his game. I had to be like him so I could get stuff out of him. I smirked to myself finding this all this just a little exciting. I turned back to my maths, smiling the rest of the way through it.
