2. Chapter 2

June 18~~~Brooke

When me and Jess got to the airport, Monica (my step mom) was waiting for us. I was so happy to see her. She's more nice than my mom.
"I'm so glad you're here!" Monica said in her strong British accent, hugging us both. "And your Jessa, yeah?" she asked,
looking at Jess. Jess smiled awkwardly, stuck in Monica's strong hug. Monica finally let go of her.
"Yes. It's nice to meet you!" Jess said, holding out her hand. Monica shook it, smiling. Jessa yawned, and Monica's smile
"Are you tired, Jessa?" Monica asked Jess. Jess nodded her head. "Okay, let's get going."
We went to baggage claim and got all of our stuff. Everything was there, thankfully. We headed towards Monica's car.
After about 10 minutes, Jess fell asleep. I giggled, because this happens often. Monica looked at her through her rear view mirror. She smiled.
    "Is she sleeping?" she whispered.
"Ya." I told her. I looked at Jess. "She normally does this. She's a very sleepy person."
10 minutes later, we arrived at my dad's house. It's a big house: 2 stories with a finished basement. It's very nice, with a pool and a back patio. When we stopped, Jess's eyes fluttered open.
"We're here, Jess." I told her happily. She just rubbed her eyes.
We grabbed our bags from the trunk of the car and headed to the front door. When we walked in, Jess's jaw dropped.
"This house is so big!" she said surprised. I didn't tell her my dad was rich. Not real rich, but enough to afford a really nice house.
"I know. My room is downstairs." I told her, pointing at the stairs. "But I wanna talk to my dad first."
"I'll come with." she said, setting her stuff by the basement stairs, and running to my side. She likes my dad. He's like a
second dad to her.
"Okay, his room is upstairs." We walked up the spiral staircase, and I knocked on the first door to my right.
"Come in!" My dad's cheerful voice burst through the door. I opened it and walked into my dad's arms.
"I missed you, sweetie." He said into my brownish-red hair that's identical to his.
"I missed you too, dad." I breathed into his shirt. I promised myself I wouldn't cry. Then he noticed Jess.
"Hey Jessa, you can join the hug, too." He smiled at Jess. She stared at him, and hugged us awkwardly. I giggled and pulled away from my dad.
"You girls should go to bed. You girls must be tired." He said, concerned. He's always like that: his children come first.
"We actually slept alot on the plane. We got our sleep." I assured my dad. He smiled, knowing I always tell the truth. I'm the good girl: I never lie. My mom raised me well.
"You girls want some breakfast? I can make waffles." He asked. Me and Jess nodded our heads. My dad makes the best
waffles. They should be world-famous.
After breakfast, we got ready for the day ahead of us. I picked out a blue tee-shirt that has my volleyball number on it, white shorts, and my black converse. I braided my hair to the side, and only applied mascara. Jess picked out a floral tank top, jean shorts, and sandals. She left her golden hair curly, of course, and put a single bow clip in it. She rarely ever leaves the house without makeup on, but today she only put on mascara and eyeliner. I was impressed. We both walked upstairs and sat on the couch next to my dad. He smiled.
"Dad, do you mind if we walk into town for a little bit?" I asked, making sure my puppy dog eyes were showing. He never
said no when I did that.
"Sure sweetheart. Just make sure to be home by five." he said, winking. I smiled, because my dad was so awesome.
"I just don't want you to be disappointed, because we haven't seen each other in a while." I said. I don't want to always go out and not spend time with my dad. That would be rude. But, I don't want to ignore Jess. Uhh, so many decisions.
"It's okay, sweetie. It's only one day. Now go have fun." he told me, slipping 50 pounds into my hand. He smiled and kissed my cheek.
"We don't need money. We have some." I told my dad, confused.
"I want you girls to do something fun. Love you girls." He said, and Jess blew a kiss at him. He pretended to catch it and
put it in his pocket. He was a funny old man. We said bye to Monica and walked out the door. I just realized how much I missed my dad, and it's surprising.
