My name is Vanessa Malfoy, I'm Draco's cousin but I am nothing like him at all, at least I don't think I am. People say that I'm too shy and I don't talk much, I guess if I did I would figure out if I was like him, I don't want to be, I hate his family, I wouldn't mind being like him, I just don’t want to be like his dad. People underestimate him, they say that he's an evil prat but deep down he's really caring, I guess it depends on who you are and how he acts towards you. People say that I’m almost a spitting image of him; same colored hair, just longer, thinner nose, good figure, and the eyes they’re exactly the same. My parents were killed by Voldemort, I know, I dare say the name, but I'm not like my family, and I don't even think that I should be in Slytherin. My circumstances are different so I'm going to explain them to you, let's start from the beginning.

Before I was born my parents were forced to become death eaters along with my father’s brother Lucius. Then, when I was five months old, just before he had lost his powers, Voldemort killed my parents because he was mad at some prophecy. Ever since then I've been living with Draco. People know that we're cousins but they don't care, Draco says that when he thinks we're old enough Voldemort is going to make us death eaters. I don’t even want to be in Slytherin anyway, I would rather be anything else, I wanted to be in Gryffindor and help the Golden Trio defeat Voldemort but for some crappy reason the sorting hat put me into Slytherin. The worst part is that Draco is in all of my classes, which means that he is way to over protective of me, we grew up together so it makes sense that he cares and it's also nice and unusual of him, but I have a personal bubble and according to Draco he's the only one allowed in it. Still Draco and I are really close, we normally think of each other as siblings rather than cousins.

Back to reality, its fifth year and I'm running through the column to get to platform 93/4. While trying to get onto the train I bump into Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. I’ve talked to them before and they’re nice to me. Draco saw me talking to them and he immediately pulls me away from them and makes me sit next to him the whole train ride. When we finally get there and the when feast is over we go up to our dorms to get a goodnight’s sleep before classes start tomorrow. Even in my dormitory I get no time to myself at all because Pansy is Draco’s eyes and ears.

So the next morning after breakfast I go to my classes which were boring as usual and the new defense against the dark arts teacher is from the ministry and she is way too uptight. At the end of the day we have potions with the Gryffindors. Professor Snape pairs us up with someone to make the cure for boils potion as a review. I get partnered up with Harry as Draco gives him a sharp look as to say I’ll kill you if you hurt her, Ron and Hermione are together and Pansy and Baize Zabini, are put together. By the end of the lesson most of the class got detention for being disrespectful and not referring to Snape as Sir or Professor, and Snape found a lame excuse for most of the Gryffindors. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I walk out of there free of any punishment.

“Go study in the library and wait for me there,” Draco directed me as he went to detention after changing his clothes. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were waiting for me but they pretended to be talking so Draco wouldn’t know I was going with them.

“You’re not my dad I don’t have to listen to you Draco,” I said angrily.

“But I care about you, you’re like the only one that I actually care about, you're my sister,” he replied in a defensive yet sympathetic tone.

“There’s a difference between caring and obsessing and you’re a bit too obsessive, I get you care and that’s sweet but I really do need my freedom. Just give me a bit of space and make pansy stop snooping around me all the time, I can’t even keep a journal to write my thoughts in because she’s always watching me,” I replied calming down.

“Fine, I’ll give you some freedom, go do what you want and meet me in the common room before dinner,” he sighed.

“Ooh, thank you so much Draco, see you in the common room at around eight,” I squealed ecstatically.
