Geass: The Power Of The Kings *Complete*

Rose is just an average Japanese girl. That is, untill she starts going to a private school with her brother, and runs into an old childhood friend. They start planing on how to obliterate the Holy Britiannian Empire. Just like old times. Only bad thing is, she has to hide her life from her brother, and that's hard for Rose to do.
*Yes, this is based off the anime "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion". If you have not watched the series, I suggests you do. It's a really good anime.*

12. Chapter 11

*The Next Day-Early Morning*

I feel like the covers are all on me, and Lelouch's arms are no longer around me. I flip over and slowly open my eyes. Lelouch is sitting up; head in his hands. "Lelou?" I mumble.

"Go back to sleep Rosebud. I just had a bad dream. I'll be fine."

"Okay," I close my eyes and somehow fall back asleep.

*Mid-Afternoon*

Shirley, Kallen, and I are setting up some cat things in the student council room for the stray cat we rescued. Suzaku named him Arthur.

"So Kallen, are you hiding something from us?" Shirley asks.

Kallen and I make eye contact. She can't possibly know that Kallen fights Britannians. If she knows about Kallen, then it's just a matter of time before she knows about me.

"You don't have to tell me if it's too personal."

"No," Kallen says. "What are you even talking about?"

"You can tell me. I won't be shocked or upset."

"Shirley?" I ask.

"It's just, I've seen you before."

Kallen carefully takes out her pocket knife. Arthur squirms in her grasp, but she doesn't hand him off to me.

Shirley turns quickly to us, "You're dating Lelou, aren't you?"

A giggle escapes me lips.

"Lelou?" Kallen asks shocked. "Why would you think that?"

"The other day I saw you two outside."

"You're misunderstanding. That was all his doing," Kallen stands up.

"His doing."

"I stand up, "Girls."

"It wasn't like that," Kallen says.

"I don't get it, you were trying so hard to catch the cat," Shirley says.

"So she wouldn't have to kiss anyone," I roll my eyes.

"It's not like we kissed or anything," Kallen continues on; ignoring my input.

"Or anything? Did you stop short of doing it?" Shirley is on edge.

"No, stop going to the wrong places in your mind."

"Shirley, you don't know what was happening," I say. "You guys try and work this out," I walk to the door. "I've got to go. I have a date with Lelouch."

*An Hour Later*

"You're just going to let them draw you to them like that?" C.C. asks. Lelouch, C.C., and I are in Lelouch's room while he gets ready to gear up like a Brit soldier.

"They went to such trouble to invite me. Might as well go," Lelouch answers. "There's something I need to ask Cornelia personally."

"Destroying Britannian or finding out who killed your mother?" I ask.

"Which is more important to you?" C.C. asks.

"Each are equally important to me. The royal family members are competing to see who will ascend the thrown and become the next ruler. Or rather, they're being forced to fight. By that man," Lelouch has lots of anger in his answer.

"But the very thing you hate," I think aloud.

"Is the same thing, that make Britannia strong," C.C. finishes for me. "The next heir to the royal thrown is the best fit to rule Britannia because he is the last on left standing."

"Exactly. The weak ones lose and are cast aside. Britannia's just that kind of nation. That kind of world."

"Survival of the fittest is the basic rule of all."

Lelouch slams close his briefcase thing, "What happens to Nunnally if that's true? Do I just give up on my sister because she's frail? I refuse to accept that." Lelouch stands up and pulls his briefcase off the table. "I'll get rid of that world myself.

C.C. is now standing in front of the door. Pointing a gun at Lelouch. "You can't go. You need to fulfil your end of the bargain, so I won't have you dying before that."

I get comfortable on the edge of Lelouch's bed, wishing for some popcorn.

"Notice that what you're saying and what you're doing is contradicting," Lelouch says.

"I won't kill you, I'll just shoot your leg to quiet you down," C.C. says.

"Now I get it," Lelouch was always a sharp boy. "You're unable to use Geass yourself. Aren't you?"

I hear a small gasp from C.C.

"I'm not surprised, I expected as much. You obviously wouldn't have asked me if you could have done it," Lelouch takes out a gun and points it at C.C.

"Do you really think you can threaten me with a gun?"

"Yes, I do," he lifts the gun up to his temple.

C.C. and I both take in a breath.

"Until I met you I was dead. A corpse hiding behind a life of lies. A life where I did nothing. Day to day I just went through the motions. As if I were a zombie, and I always felt like I was gradually dying. If I'm forced to go back to that, then I'd rather-"

"Stop it!" C.C. and I cut him off from doing anything stupid. Lelouch lowers the gun.

"I see now," C.C. says. "It's life without meaning."

"And a life like that isn't worth living," I finish for her.
