8. Rebel Reunion

We were stood around for about half an hour before the rebels showed up. Rasco led the group, closely followed by Cassia and a small group of others. I could see Alessio looking confused out of the corner of my eye. Good. Someone as annoying and stupid as he is deserves to be. Rasco dismounted his horse and embraced me and Raven warmly. He was the closest I have to a father figure now, given Eternal and everything. His glance came to rest on Alessio, looking as confused as the young boy was.

"That's Alessio. He's nothing more than a pain in the ass to be honest," I explained. Alessio tossed me a look and looked down at his feet, clearly embrassed.

"Play nice Xanthe," Rasco shook his hand,"Welcome to the rebels Alessio. Might I ask why you're with Xanthe and Raven?"

He visibly gulped. "I got involved in a attack in Brutasis Forest by accident. It's really not my fault I'm here."

Rasco shook his head and pushed the boy towards the rest of his group. We made our way over to a empty hut in silence and locked ourselves inside. Perching on the edge of a table, I fixed Rasco with a icey stare.

"Who's the new girl, Rasco?"

"What do you care?"

"Well, she's new and you've got her with Azelia and Zeirso on a horse. The kid's obviously important."

"Her name's Evelyn, Xanthe. She's the girl with emerald eyes."

"Her?!" I nearly fell off the table "She's the one!"

"Yes. I want you to put her through her paces, challenge her and make her hard. Make her know her place in our ranks and make her want to get better."

"You want me to turn her in to a warrior?"

"You know I'm not good at that kind of thing, Rasco." I stood up and paced around the hut. I could sense Raven biting her tongue and I shot her a look. Rasco sighed.

"Obviously. But I would prefer her to be setting fire to forests and having quarrels with Satan than what she is now." I smirked slightly at him.

"That was just a misunderstanding. It's not my fault I had to kill her sister to get out of Eternal."

"But you didn't have to get out of Eternal did you?" I whirled around and fixed Raven with a cold stare.

"You have no idea what it's like down there do you? No idea of the pain, the sound, the whole damn thing. If you ever go there, you'll understand why I had to," pushing open the door, I stormed out and leant against the wall. I couldn't of spent any more time there if I had to. I still had nightmares about it two years later. I was only thirteen when I went in. The other two must of thought I had completely gone by this point, and their voices were carried out to me.

"She's so much like her mother."

"A little too much."

"That's not her fault, Rasco. If you tryed to be warmer with her than you are, then maybe-"

"No. You know why I keep my distance. She could go like her mother any minute."

"Give the girl a break Rasco! Just because she reminds you of her mother doesn't mean you have to keep her at arms lenght like she's a beop or something." I could hear him cursing under hsi breath and I ducked behind some trees as he stalked out, looking more than pissed off. My mother was dead, how could they of known her? I had been told she'd died during child-birth by my father, by Sacul. He was dead now aswell. They all were. Dad, Mum, Camily and Eagys. I'd killed them all. I'd sent them all to their deaths when I was only twelve. I hadn't known what I was doing. I hadn't known that my powers would kill them. I hadn't known that my magic would led to a rope around all of their necks. That's not the worst part though. That was the looked they gave me, right before they died. Looks of sympathy and forgiveness for me as the rope collided with their necks. It broke my heart. I could see Rasco gathering his team back up and I made my way other with Night at my side. Another horse had been found for me and I mounted with ease.

Time for family visit.
