7. Our Stop

I hate mournings. The blanket clung to me like clothes as I shook myself awake. Midnight pawed at my stomach eagerly, forcing me out of my pit.

Whats up Night?

We've stopped. Riahs gone bonkers!

Come on, lets go see what's happened.

She disappeared through the door, not bothering to wait. I pulled on a jacket and followed her out in to the mourning light. The deck was virtually empty, nothing like last night. Riah, Alessio and Raven stood by the gangplank in silence Benlat slept on the other bank, shrouded by thick mist.

See what I mean?!

This is our stop Night. We get of here.

"Are you sure about this?" Riah questioned nervously. To tell the truth, I wasn't. Not even close.

"Yes," I lied to him. Benlat was the last place I wanted to go.

"What's so bad about Benlat anyway? Why are you all so afraid of the place?" Spoke up Alessio. How sheltered the poor boy was.

"You'll see pet," Raven replied, after we all crossd ourselves. He flashed me a quizzcial look, but left it at that. Thank God.

"I guess this is goodbye then," Riah said, clearing his throat,"Take these. They should help you." He held out three backpacks towards us, gesturing for us to take them. I took mine and slung it on to my back without a secound thought.

"Thanks," I muttered as Alessio and Raven shouldered theirs. Slowly, I began to make my way down the gangplank, with Midnight, Raven and Alessio following right behind. Well, more like Midnight & Raven were right behind me and Alessio a way behind. The stillness of the ground felt alien after three nights on a boat. I could feel myself wobbling slightly as I turned back to Riah and yelled, "Sorry about all the mess by the way!"

His chuckling was barely aubile as the gangplank was raised and the ship sailed off down the river. We just stood there, not really knowing what to do. We'd run down to the other side of Chalson, not really knowing why. It was Alessio who finally broke the silence.

"What are we even doing here?" He asked, turning to look at me.

"Satan wants me dead," I whispered, looking up at the sky, "But I'm going to kill her first."

My hands already have a persons blood on them. One more can't hurt.

Can it?
