8. "My Man's as True Steel"

•Ara's POV•

"I want to know who did all this. I want to know now!" CEO Sungsoo yelled. He was furious. He had us all lined up in his office. Dambi, Kahi, After School, Nu'est, the rest of Hello Venus and I. Even the trainees were here (it's a big office). He was pacing in front of us like we were in the army and watched us, searching for a sign that would reveal the culprit. If no one came foward, we would all get in trouble. Obviously, that would happen because no one here did it.

I saw Baekho holding back a smile. I know he didn't do it. It was probably just the awkwardness of the situation getting to him.

Sungsoo noticed. "Baekho? Is there something you would like to share with the rest of us?"

"No, hyung," he replied, standing tall.

"Was this your idea?"

"N-no, hyung," he repeated. He started to sound really nervous.

"Why are you so nervous then? Are you hiding something?"  he pestered.

"I swear! I didn't do-"

"I did it," I interrupted. I figured that since I knew who did it, I should save an innocent soul from taking the blame.

All heads turned to me. "You did it?" Sungsoo asked, surprised.

"Yes, I did it. Please leave Baekho alone. He had nothing to do with it."

"Everyone, please exit the room. Except you, Ara."

Everyone filed out of the room. "Good luck," Yoonjo whispered as she left.

"Have a seat," he requested once everyone had left. I sat and he let out a sigh of disappointment. "You of all people. I would expect something like this from Nu'est, not you. Why did you do it?"

"I'm sorry. I just thought it would be funny. Aron's always pulling pranks on us, so I just wanted a little revenge."

"As much as I hate to admit this, but it was a little funny," he chuckled. "But, I still have to punish you. I want you to clean up the mess you caused. You're a leader. Act like one."

"Okay, I understand. I promise I won't do it again," I assured. I bowed to him and left his office.

As I exited his office, all eyes were on me. "I can't believe you did it," Aron chuckled. "That was awesome."

"Thanks, but I gotta go clean," I said and made my way to the destroyed room.

•Key's POV•

"Haha! Did you see that lady's face!? That was priceless!" Jonghyun laughed.

"And did you see that girl jump onto that table so she didn't touch the snakes? Too funny!" Minho chuckled.

I was the only one who wasn't laughing. Even if I didn't know Ara, I still wouldn't think it was funny.Maybe putting worms in the punch bowl was a little funny, but snakes, rats and fireworks are dangerous. Someone could've seriously gotten hurt.

I felt that since I was involved, I should take some responsibility for fixing it. "Uh, I'm gonna go to the store. Do you guys want anything?" I asked.

"Oh, I'll go with you," Taemin offered.

"No, it's fine," I fretted, implying to him that I wasn't actually going to the store.

"I'll give you some company, just so you're not alone," he pestered.

"Let him go with you, Key," Onew said. "And bring me some chicken!"

We left the dorm and walked down the street. "You do know I'm not going to the store, right?" I questioned.

"I know. I want to go, too," he responded.

We went to the Pledis building and once again snuck past security. "Man, they need better security guards," I joked.

"But then you won't be able to see Ara," Taemin teased.

"Shut up," I said, embarrassed.

We got up to the room where the party was. It looked like a tornado had ripped through it. Tables were overturned, broken glass was on the floor and smoke from the fireworks caused soot to form on the walls and ceiling. I saw a figure bent over cleaning in the corner. They stood up and I recognized her to be Ara.

"Ara!" I yelled and ran over to her. I picked her up and spun her around, causing her to drop the broken glass she had just cleaned up.

"Key! Why are you here?" she wondered.

"I came to clean up this mess, since I was part of it. Why are you the only one cleaning?"

"I took the blame for it and this is my punishment."

"Why would you do that?"

"Because Baekho would've gotten in trouble. He shouldn't get in trouble for something he didn't do."

"You didn't do it either," I noted.

"Yes, but I knew who did it. Isn't that just as bad?"

"You're so thoughtful," I babbled and kissed her softly.

"Ahem," Taemin coughed. "I'm still here you know."

"Well, since you came all this way to clean, that's what you'll do," Ara giggled and tossed me a damp rag.

"Yes ma'am," I laughed and cleaned the soot off of the walls. She and Taemin cleaned up the glass from the floor. To clean the ceiling, I lifted her up onto my shoulders so she could reach.

"Hey, Ara! We came to... woah," someone said. I looked and saw five girls coming in. They were Ara's bandmates.

I quickly took her down from my shoulders. "Um... hi?" I said nervously.

"What are they doing here?" one of them asked.

"They came to clean," Ara answered.

"Why them? Why would they come to clean?"

"Uh, w-well," she stuttered. "They-"

"We did this so we came to clean," I interrupted. "We came in and saw her cleaning so we helped her."

"Ara said she did it," the light-green haired girl said.

"I took the blame for Baekho. I knew they... nevermind," she stopped, not wanting to reveal too much.

"You knew what? That they did it? How would you know that?" the blonde one chimed in. "Are you in cahoots with eachother?"

"No, Ara's not a traitor," the green haired girl said.

"Thank you, Lime," Ara said. "He didn't have anything to do with this. It was his friends."

"Why are you defending him?" the blonde one questioned.

"Alice, stop asking so many questions," Lime chided.

"I just want to know what's going on with them," Alice nagged.

"We can't hide it forever," I whispered to Ara.

"Hide what?" Lime wondered.

"Nara, can you close the door?" Ara asked one of the other girls. She did and Ara sighed before speaking again. "Key and I... we're together."

"What do you mean by together? Like together together?" Alice asked. We nodded simutaneously.

"Oh my god, Ara," Nara grumbled. "Why would you get yourself into this mess? Do you know how much trouble you two will get into?"

"We know and we were willing to take that risk," I divulged.

"He knows, too?" Lime said, gesturing to Taemin.

"Yeah, he found out a few days ago. He promised to keep this a secret. Can you do the same? Please?" Ara begged.

The girls looked at eachother with worried looks. "I don't know. If someone finds out, we'll get in trouble for hiding it."

"Please, Yoonjo. I'm begging you. Please," Ara pleaded with the girls.

"We're going to have to work really hard to keep this secret then. You need to be extremely careful to make sure you don't get caught again," Yoonjo sighed.

"Thank you so much!" Ara cheered.

"Now that that's over, let's get back to the excitement of cleaning!" I said sarcastically.
