25. How Hard Can It Be

"You did what?!" I bit my thumbnail and looked at Charlie.

"What?," she shrugged her shoulders, "I didn't think it was that big of deal." she turned around to walk into her room.

"Oh, calling Owen and telling him that I miss him is no big deal. Im sorry you're right." I turned around and followed her, "Except your WRONG!"

I buried my face in my hands and then let out a sigh,

"Charlie, I love you and you're my best friend but I am so confused with Harry right now the last thing I need is for Owen to think that I like him." I walked over and sat on the edge of her bed.

"But, you do like him..." she went to her dresser and pulled out a new shirt.

"Yes, but he doesn't need to know that."

"Where are you going anyways?" I asked watching her pull out a different shirt.

"Nialls talking me out for dinner." she smiled at herself in the mirror.

"That's sweet of him. I'm glad you two are officially a thing." I smiled and looked at her through the mirror.

"Me too. But the fans aren't" she let out a sigh and walked over to me and sat next to me.

"I mean don't get me wrong, I love that we're together, but I am one of those girls. I get why their so upset and now I now what it feels like to be get all that hate. I just don't want this to split us apart." she started tugging at a loose thread on a throw pillow that was sitting on her lap.

"I know this can't be easy for you Charlie. But look on the bright side, the only reason why you're getting hate is because you and Niall are official which is way more than Harry and I are. We haven't even kissed yet and we only have one more week left here." I looked down and started playing with my thumbs.

"Hey," she placed a hand on my shoulder, "Just give it some time. Things will work out when they're meant to work out." she gave me smile.

"I guess you're right," I rolled my eyes.

"Aren't I always," she laughed, "but if in the mean time you want to call my cousin back and confess your undying love to him then feel free." she stood up to walked to her bathroom but looked back at me over her shoulder and winked.

I threw the pillow at her and layed back on the bed,

"Boys suck."

"Check mate," Harry smiled and knocked my queen off the board and replaced it with is own pawn.

"You suck," I glared at him and then the board to figure out my next move.

"Dont' hate the playa, hate the game." he said in a fake Bronx accent.

"Okay, but you don't suck as much as that accent," I laughed, "Oh and uh, by the way," I looked up at him and he looked up at me with his green eyes. I started leaning forward,

"Check mate." I knocked off his pawn and put down my own.

"Hey, no fair. No teasing your opponent!"

"Don't hate the playa, hate the game." I winked at him.

"What are you doing tomorrow after noon.." he trailed off while still looking at the chess board.

I was glad he was looking at the chess board so he couldn't see my face that was burning up.

"Nothing yet, w-why?" I said biting the inside of my cheek.

"How good are you on horses?" he looked at me.

I raised my left elbow in shock,

"I'm sorry, what?"

"It's easy, all you have to do is hit the ball on the ground and then keep it away from your opponent." Harry said with a black helmet buckled around his chin.

"Yeah, while Im on a HORSE HARRY!" I yelled at him with my own helmet on.

We were both sitting on horses and had a mallet in our hands.

"You said you could ride a horse!" he pointed at me.

"Yeah," I said with huge eyes, "I could ride a horse, not play a game while riding one!" I kind of yelled back at him.

"Kennedy, you'll be fine. If Louis can get the hang of it, anyone can get the hang of it." He kicked the sides of his horse and the horse started trotting away.

"Oh and Kennedy," he stopped and turned back around.

"Yeah?" I asked with a smile on my face hoping he would say that he would help me or that I didn't actually have to play and this was all just a game to mess with me.

"My high school won the national championships one year," he said smiling.

"Okay, but what does that have to do with me being on a horse?" I asked.

"The National Championships was for Polo." he smirked and kicked his horse again.

I dropped my jaw and stared at him. I looked around me and saw a bunch of other players here. This was a real game where people actually kept score and everything. Thank god it wasn't for the queen, but people were still around to watch Harry play. Mostly fans but mainly the press. I took a deep breath and held up my mallet,

"Polo, how hard can it be"
