2. Sam's Here!

I woke up and it felt like any other day, but then I remembered Sam was going to be here today! I asked Frankie if he could drive me to the airport to pick Sam and his family up. After we saw them we all went out to lunch. I was happy that Sam was here. I actually have a reason to want leave the house and not be forced out now!

After lunch, I helped Sam’s family moved in, but Frankie had to go to work. It wasn’t a big deal because Sam’s house was in walking distance of mine. We had finished moving in and I was going to walk home, but Sam asked if we could go walk along the beach. I called and asked Aunt Peggy if it was okay. Of course, she let me; she was just happy I was finally “living again” in her words. Sam and I started walking and soon we were at the beach. I was smiling, laughing, and having a good time. Then I looked at Sam and he’s face was very serious. I asked if something was wrong. He replied, “You’re just...really different.”

“What’s different about me?” I asked, worriedly. I didn't want Sam to think of me differently.

“The way you talk, how you hold yourself nowadays, and when I first saw you, all you did was smile at me. You didn’t come running towards me to give me a hug like you used too. I just didn’t think a person could change that much." He said with a sad look on his face.

I looked down for a second then back up at him. “Sam, I’m sorry I’ve changed, but you know I lost my parents. It’s really hard to deal with. This is the first time I’ve had a good time and actually smiled in a long, long time.” Sam started smiling.

“What?” I asked.

“You’re….you're having a good time with me?”

“Yeah,” I said, blushing slightly.

“I’m glad,” he said putting his arms out, “but can we get to my hug soon?”

I smiled like an idiot and jumped into them. I felt them closed around me hard, but not too hard as to hurt me, but enough to let me know that he missed me a lot. After about five minutes of hugging we went for a long walk. We walked past his house, but he said he wanted to know how to get to my house from his, so he continued to walk with me.
