Murder case.

Martha Shaw is the best person to have on the case.
Eight murders and counting. All by the same person.
At the same time every single day.
Martha only has a short time before the murdered kills again, and it could be her that it's after.

18. The Liar

Martha slowly opened a large door at the back of the shop, inside, it was pitch black.

"Shaw? That you?" a familiar voice said.

"Mick?" she replied to a disembodied figure.

"In the flesh. Do us a favor, reach to the left and flick on the light," Mick ordered.

Martha reached her hand to the side, felt up the wall, then felt the switch hanging on a long piece of rope from the roof. As she brought her hand back down the wall, after the room had flooded with light, Martha heard a sharp sound, and then she felt an unimaginable pain through her wrist.

"Aw, should have told you about that..." Joshua laughed.

Mick's partner, Joshua, stood menacingly  in the corner, laughing.

When Martha looked at her arm, it was covered in blood. Her wrist had been slit, and little bits of broken plastic and glass lay buried inside her arm.

On the wall, just underneath the switch, was a glass bomb. Mick and Joshua had set it to go off whenever someone was right beside it, and it had blown up on Martha.

"Josh, get her a bandage," Mick instructed.

Joshua left his place, went through a small door, then arrived back holding a long white strip of soft bandage.

It looked soft, but felt as rough as nails. Martha strapped it around her bloody wrist, then continued talking to the two men.
