Time For A Change (Harry Styles Fanfic)

Brielle Reed is the star student, and proud leader of the mathletes. One Direction goes to her school but she doesn't exactly care for them. They're popular and Brielle is a nerd. But when Harry Styles needs tutoring in math, well, lets just say it's time for a change.

3. Me Against The World

I woke up at 2 a.m. Someone was throwing rocks at my window.  I opened it and a rock hit my arm.  “Harry!  What the bloody hell are you doing here?” I said. “I wanted to see you, love.” Harry chuckled at my uncombed hair.  “Come down me lady!” Harry sounded like the prince from Rapunzel.  “Harry, now is NOT the time.  I wanna be alone.” I informed him.  “Your loss, because I have a tub of ice cream to share with someone.” Harry raised his voice taunting me.  “Harry, please go.” I asked of him.  “Ugh.  You’re very stubborn you know.” Harry smiled.  “Yes. Now go!” I practically screamed.  Harry walked away into his SUV and drove off, leaving the tub of ice cream on the ground.  I climbed out my window, shuffled down the roof and got the ice cream and ate in my bedroom.  I can’t believe that in a four short hours I’ll be sharing a room with Brooklyn.  I will have to wake up every morning, to see Julia and Brooklyn making themselves welcome.

*6hours later*

“Ducky, time to get up, Julia- I mean Mum and Brooklyn are at the airport waiting for us to pick them up at Heathrow.” Dad said like nothing was wrong.  “Ready. Let’s get this over with.” I mumbled.  “Great! Let’s go.  We can take the van!” Dad said happily.  On the drive there, I mumbled things like, ‘You know, not for nothing but they can just get a taxicab.’.  When we arrived at Heathrow, Brooklyn and Julia were waiting patiently with smiles on their faces.  In all honesty, I was gonna let them throw everything in back by themselves, until Dad was all like “Oh, Ducky.  Won’t you help Mum and Brooklyn put their things in the trunk away?”.  I went outside and was greeted by hugs and kisses and oh-you’ve-got-so-big, and I replied to the oh-you-got-so-big, by saying, “Well you grow, after you’re left alone in the hospital to die” but only murmuring it so they can’t hear.  “Uh-Hey.” Brooklyn said with a faint English accent.  “Hi.” I snap, “Listen, I heard the story and all.  Our Mum’s really great, and maybe we can be friends?” Brooklyn tries reassuring me, but it doesn’t work.  “Just look at it from my perspective, when you were born your mom left you in the hospital never wanting to see you again, leaving you there to die.  You’ve gone through all of your life knowing that, then one day your father, who’s the only person there for you, tells you that your mom is coming back, and you have a twin.” I explain getting into the car with her.  “Julia chose you over me, don’t you get it?” I ask a rhetorical question.  “Oh.” Brooklyn is speechless, then she finds words, “Mum is trying to make things better though, and-” I cut her short of continuing, “Really, is that what she is trying to do?  Well, I’m sorry but you can’t get back 16 years, Brooklyn.” I remark.  “I understand.” Julia says, “I’m really sorry for leaving you.  I know I was never there and this is all so sudden, but please give me a chance.” Julia pleads.  “Okay.” I say defeated, I was alone, Dad, Julia and Brooklyn were reunited and I was the ugly duckling.   "It is me, against the world and the world is winning." I lightly sang during the silent car ride home.
