Forever & Always, Zayn

"I'll always love you, you have to know that. But, it's just that, well, it's hard when you're loving someone with all your heart, and they don't love you back. You, of all people, should understand this."

18. Small Talk

   Zayn's POV

Kristina and I sat on a pair of bar stools at the bar. She just kept drinking, drink after drink. I figured that she'd be pretty drunk within the hour. I, on the other hand, was at least trying to limit myself.

She was really easy to talk to, and our conversations just flowed so naturally, I didn't even have to think. I listened intently as she told me about her life.

She stirred a straw in little circles in her drink. "I've pretty much lived in northern Indiana all my life. Went to the same school all my life," she lifted her straw and waved it in the air. "Pretty boring life if ya ask me." Her words were starting to slur together.

I shrugged. "My life was pretty much the same," I countered.

She snorted. "Says the singer who makes up 1/5 of the worlds biggest boyband."

I smirked. She was a smartmouth, I could tell. "How old are you anyway?" I wanted to know.

This time she laughed out loud. "Not old enough to legally be here,"  she gave me a sly smile.

   "Oh?" I laughed.

She continued to smile in that sexy way only she could and nodded.

I shook my head and lifted my drink. "Same here."

She lifted her drink and clinked it against mine. "Did they even check for your ID?

   I shook my head no.

She tilted her head, still smiling. I could see longing in her eyes.

"How old are you again?" I laughed.

She smiled and angled her head downward, continuing to play with her straw. The bartender placed another drink down in front of her. She nodded her thanks.

I drummed my fingers on the counter-top, making it obvious that I was still waiting for an answer. She let out a smal laugh.
