Starlight, Starbright

In a land far, far away, there's a world that you could never have imagined. This place has no name. But it is home to numerous cats. Everything about this world is mysterious from it's blossoming, bright springs, lush, emerald summers, colorful, fiery autumns, and white, sparkling winters. In this story we trace the steps of a young heroine. From the moment she realizes what life is really about to the very second she dies. A tale of friendships and sorrows, heartbreaks and heroes, a broken connection between two sisters, a murder mystery, and a conclusion no one suspected...

35. We All Fall Down

A groan alerted me of something bad. Silence fell over the group. How that was possible, with over 500 cats in the audience and a rag tag bunch of high-schoolers backstage, I didn't know.

I froze, trying to pinpoint the problem. My ears swerved around, eyes just as energetic.

I tried to keep my voice steady. "We need to get out of here." My voice echoed around the gym.

Many got up and that's when I spotted the sound.

A support beam was bending from the strain of something. A flash of pale fur perched on top of the beam.

My eyes widened and I opened my mouth. Nothing came out.

Pretty much everyone had filed out, one by one, two by two, three by three... Even though I stayed, staring at the ceiling.

"You coming?" Charles' voice shocked me out of my reverie. "S-sure." I stammered. "Right behind you."

I stood still and waited until he was out of the gym before I took a step.

My luck was terrible.
