15. The "Regular" Ways Of Royalty

"...so  you see, being a princess means a lot more than most think."

I finished and looked up nervously. I had put my very best into my presentation, but I knew it would take a lot more than just a good report to increase my popularity.

Apparently everyone else knew it, too.

The room was in utter silence except for the awkward clapping sound of Aqua's, Oliver's, Charles's, Conner's and Olivia's hands tapping against each other. Everyone was politely ignoring me (well, if you count ignoring polite). Ms. Pollin got up with a sigh. "That was very good, Fire." She said curtly.

"Okay!" She announced dramatically. Immediately, every head snapped to attention. "Who's next?" Her bright cheerfulness covered up her true nature, I realized as I slid back into my seat.

I tried to look natural, but it was hard to do with half the class ignoring you, and half the class staring at you.

Ms. Pollin picked Lily to go next and I forced myself to sit through her history project. It was pretty good, considering Lily didn't give have a care about school.

"...my family's loyalties have been passed down generation after generation. Even though my parents think it passed over me, I'm pretty sure it's still going on."

She finished with a flourish.

I clapped along with the rest of the class, still carefully keeping an eye on my teacher. She didn't show any signs of expression. It gave me the creeps.

The rumors had caught everyone.

We were all going crazy.

I have to do something, and fast.

But, what?
