34. Lights, Camera, Action!

"Hey, Snowy. Haven't seen you around lately."

I approached my friend from behind. Snowy jumped and turned around sharply. He relaxed when he saw me. "Hey, Fire." He said in that gentle voice of his. He seemed harmless, but Snowy wasn't who you thought him to be. He regularly wouldn't hurt a fly, but if someone got in his way or was messing with one of his friends, Snowy Carter isn't who you want to deal with.

He smiled at me. "I just haven't had much to come out for." Snowy was the type of kid who stayed indoors and in the background unless something really big was going on. I watched as he moved his hands with unbelievable speed across the control panels of the stage lights.

"How do you manage all that?" I stared in amazement as Snowy worked. I would never be able to remember all the gears and switches and levers, and how they worked.

Snowy laughed. "Oh, it's easy, if you know what to do." He said.

"L.Q. warning. Snowy that's your cue." The metallic voice echoed through Snowy's headset.

"I'd better leave you to it." I nodded to Snowy. He smiled. "I'll see you." He murmured.

And we were on our way.

"Next up, our very own Princess, Fireflame Harrison! Playing the guitar and singing, Just So You Know!"

I stepped out of the wings and sat down on the little chair that was put out for me.

With a string of my guitar, I started. I focused on the song and my music as I went through. Nothing else.

The auditorium was silent as I played and sang. I let my voice pour out. I put everything that song made me feel into my voice.

When I finished, I was kinda shocked to get the applause that I got. I grinned and bowed, like I had done at the auditions.

I walked backstage to a bunch of grinning performers. Well, some.

"I'm glad I went before you," Selinna said, leaning back onto some crates. "I would hate to stack myself up against that!" She smirked.

"Shh." I put my finger to my lips and gestured to Aqua and Conner. "There's still more talent on the way."

Aqua overheard me and threw my guitar pick at my head. I ducked. It sailed over my head and hit Lily in the nose.

"Pathetic." Shontel muttered.

We were interrupted by the announcer saying;

"Ladies and gentlemen, for our last but not least performance, our other Princess, Aquamarine Harrison and her dance partner, Conner Sky dancing to Die Young!"

I cracked up at that. I didn't know why, but it just sounded so weird.

Conner and Aqua spun through their routine like it was everyday work. Which it probably was.

It was ending that surprised me. Conner bent Aqua into a movie dip and we all leaned forward. Then he kissed her.

There was a pause. They broke apart, both of them beaming.

The audience went wild. They got a standing ovation, which I guess they deserved. The rest of us backstage went absolutely crazy as they came back.

And that's when everything obviously went wrong.
