12. Chapter 7

Alexia’s POV:

“Why did you lick my hand?” Harry asked extremely grossed out.

“Don’t know. Just had the urge.” I said satisfied with my little act of revenge I got.

“It wasn’t funny, though.”

“But you should’ve seen your face.” I tried not to laugh, but I failed miserably and ended up giggling. One thing I hate most about myself is when I giggle. My free hand instantly went up to cover my mouth and the annoying sounds coming from it.

“You’re cute when you giggle.” He said with a chuckle. First I call him cute, but that wasn’t out loud, and now he calls me cute. Where is this heading? Alex, you’re over-thinking it. I really need to pay attention to my surroundings, because the next thing I knew I was sitting on my ass in front of the main entrance.

“Alexia! Are you okay?” Harry was instantly by my side helping me get up.

“I’m fine. I’m a little clumsy sometimes.” I could feel the blush creeping up my neck to my cheeks.

“I noticed.” He laughed.

“Hey! The music room thing wasn’t my fault! You decided to stop right in front of me…” I said trailing off and feel my cheeks burn with the fury of a thousand suns. I looked up to see a slight blush on his face but nothing like mine was.

“Come on. We should get going.” He said with a sly smile on his lips. Focus Alex! That little voice was screaming at me. We started walking through the parking lot again.

“Yeah, could we just stop by my house to drop my things off?” I said looking at the gravel on the ground.

“Of course.” He said. He was walking in front of me, but I could here the smile in his voice. And just like in music class I hit another ‘wall’.

“You have got to stop doing that.” I said picking up my keys that I dropped. When I got up, he was so close to me I could feel his breath on my face and I was staring into his eyes again. The butterflies would not stop fluttering.

“Doing what?” he asked innocently, but he had that signature smirk plastered on his face. He knows perfectly well what he does.

“N-never mind.” I stuttered and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. I took a step back to stop the damn nerves and the stuttering.

“Well, get in.” he motioned to a car parked next to us. The door already opened with him next to it.

“Are you kidding me?” I asked flabbergasted.

“What, is there something wrong?” he asked confused.

“Uh… yeah! That is a Audi R8 coupe in front of my eyes!” I practically shrieked. This was my dream car ever since it was released and I saw one on the street.

“Wow, girl knows her cars. Yeah it is, now are you going to stand there drooling over it or are you going to get in?” he chuckled. I almost ran to get in that car earning another chuckle from him.

“What’s your address?” he said when he got in the drivers’ seat. I gave it to him and just sat there looking at this amazing car.

“Hey, no drooling inside of the car.” He laughed at my expression. Wouldn’t you be shocked too if you were in my position?

“Oh just shut up and drive.” I said. He busted out in song. Again. I faceplamed. Again.

My house was almost 20 minutes away from my school. I just hoped my mum decided to actually go to work today instead of getting drunk early, but she was unpredictable. Bipolar AND drunk. Never a good mixture. Last time that happened, I almost landed in the hospital. I was pulled out of my ramble by a hand on top of mine.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked still holding my hand.

“Hmmm? How do you know I was thinking?” I asked trying to avoid his queston.

“You bite your lip and start fidgeting with your fingers. Plus, you don’t blink. At all. Its creepy and fascinating at the same time. I mean you’ve been sitting there for almost ten minutes not blinking.” He rambled on.

“Oh.” was all I could say. I didn’t know I did half of that stuff, except for the not blinking. I ruled staring contests.

“So?” he pushed further as we pulled up to my house.

“Do you want to come in? I won’t be 10 minutes. Promise.” I asked before looking up.

“Yeah, okay.” He said wearing that smirk again. What is he smirking about? I wondered. We got out of the car and grabbed my things. We walked up to the porch when I heard several things breaking inside the house. I froze mid-step. I took a deep breath to prepare myself for what was to come. I pushed the door open just a crack and peeked inside. She was in the kitchen on a rampage breaking plates and glasses. I walked in silently and ushered Harry up the stairs and into my room. He gave me a confused look when we were in my room, but I didn’t dare look at him. I set my books on my desk and sat on my bed. I pulled my knees up to my chest and buried my head in between them as I started to cry softly.

I felt a pair of strong arms close around me as I heard the noise getting worse downstairs. I looked up into those emerald eyes and just stared. He was looking at me with tears in his eyes, but why I won’t know. He doesn’t have to live with her, with this mess.

“ALEXIA! I KNOW YOU’RE UP THERE! GET DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT AND CLEAN THIS MESS!” I heard her yell and something break at the same time. Here we go again.

“Stay here. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” I said getting up and walking downstairs. She was waiting. Not good.

“What took you so long?” she slurred.

“I was ju…” she slapped me.

“Don’t talk back to me!” she yelled. I stayed silent. “Now clean up this mess.”

I walked to the kitchen and started picking up the broken plates and pieces of glass. I cut my finger in my hurry, but ignored it. It was stinging like crazy. Blood was starting to cover the floor.

“Oh, Honey. Did you hurt yourself?” she said motioning for me to stand. I nodded. “Well, your making a bigger mess!” she shouted as she struck me, busting my lip. I tasted the blood from my lip, but I didn’t dare shed a tear no matter how much I wanted to. “Get back to your room.” She said turning around and stumbling to the bar.

I practically ran upstairs and into my room. I completely forgot Harry was there. I looked at him once and went to the bathroom. I was attending my finger when I saw him standing next to me in the mirror, looking concerned.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“Fine.” I said softly. I wrapped a plaster around my finger and moved on to my lip.

‘Here. Let me help.” He said taking the sterile wipe from me. I faced him as he started work on my lip. He was so gentle. The sting from the wipe made me wince, but I regained my composure just as quick as I lost it. He was staring into my eyes for a mere second and looked back at my lips. “All done.” He said placing the wipe on the counter.

“Thanks, Harry.” I sighed as I inspected it in the mirror.

“You can’t stay here with her like this.” He said staring at me.

“I know, I usually go to Deirdre’s house when she’s like this, but I have no where to go now.” I said.

“You can stay with me if you want to.” He said smirking again.

“I might just take you up on that offer.” I said as I grabbed a few clothes and stuffed them in my bag.

“Good.” He said following me.

“Come on. Lets get going.” I said walking out of my room and down the stairs.

“Where do you think you’re going? And where did he come from?” she asked.

“I’ll meet you outside.” I said to him.

“I’m staying.” He whispered. I just nodded.

“I’m going away for a while and he is none of your concern.” I said turning around and pushing Harry out of the door.

“You can’t just leave!” I heard her yell, but I ignored her and climbed into the car as Harry started the engine and drove off. I buried my face in my hands and just sat there. I didn’t cry or anything, I just sat.

“You okay?” he asked again.

“No.” I said truthfully.
