15. EPILOGUE

*1 year later*

“Can you help me move some of those boxes out of the car?” I asked, my voice muffled under my own stack of boxes I was carrying.
“Anything for you, Bella,” Paolo smiled, reaching into the trunk.

Giovanna was up ahead, standing with her hands on her hips and admiring the fine architecture before her. I tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around, greeting me with a warm hug. She looked as beautiful as ever, if not even more so now she was pregnant with her first child. I rested my hand on her round stomach and she smiled, feeling the little kick inside her.

“I think he likes you,” Giovanna chuckled.
He?!” I grinned. “You found out?”
“Yep,” She nodded happily. “Crazy, right? I can’t believe everything that’s happening but they do say that great things come in pairs.”

Truthfully, I couldn’t believe it either. Along with the amazing news of my future godson, it ended up that Meyer Jones' offer became one that I really
couldn’t refuse. Weeks after first meeting him at the presentation, Meyer had finally gotten back to me and had offered something I would have never expected. It was a new orphanage; a state of the art building in the city itself, surrounded by beautiful monuments and lots of schools for the kids. Will was completely funding it and wanted me in charge; he had said that my speech had inspired him to give us a chance.

In the beginning I had wanted to stay at Southside so much; it seemed the only sure way to keep the kids happy and to provide a good life for them. I never would have imagined that I could manage my own new orphanage; all I knew was that I had a dream to save those kids and it felt good that I had finally succeeded. The kids giggled on the lawn of the stately manor, playing games and living innocently. All of this time, they had no idea about the complications I had come across but that was the beauty of youth. I watched them easily, hoping and praying that when they grew up they didn’t have to go through some of the madness I had.

Although the events of the past year had taken their toll on me it was worth it in the end because I had gotten everything I had dreamed about afterwards.
Everything.

“So, what do you think Mrs. Joseph?” Will said from beside me, setting down a heavy box. “Is it everything you ever wanted?”

I looked down at the wedding ring on my left finger, sparkling under the sunlight and serving as a reminder of the perfect wedding we had shared together.

“It sure is,” I smiled fondly at him, before he wrapped an arm around me and we walked inside together.

Love is like a precious flower; with time and patience it will grow, even if it doesn’t have the ideal conditions that it needs. A flower can flourish under the sun and have all of the care that it needs and it can still wilt against intention. To truly embrace love, you must never give up. That’s what Will had taught me – even if you think that your flower is dying, give it one last chance. Maybe, you’ll be surprised in the process.

It had taken years and lots of wrongs to get there; our road together had been full of twists and turns. Bu, I never would have changed those obstacles we had shared; they had made me realise that we could get through anything if we had each other by our side. Standing on that doorstep and watching the sun go down, there was one thing that would remain true forever - we would
always be Emily and Will, beauty and the geek.
