Chapter 7

Many people don’t think of me as a believer. And I’m not. I don’t believe in fate or destiny. I don’t believe in god, but I don’t honor him, and I still celebrate Christian holidays. You just probably won’t find me in the church any time soon. So then, how come I always come to terms that it was never my destiny to be in Adrissa? I’m a criminal, I can’t deny that, and I do kill to survive, but how come it feels so wrong to be in this house?
My entire room is filled with clothes from my closet. I have a lot… Basically, when you’re a most wanted criminal, you sort of are known for something. Me? I killed people. A lot. And I only did it for money. Money that I’m happy I have, I don’t even feel guilty for killing those people.
I grabbed some dresses, a tank top, and stuffed them into my suitcase. I looked around the room for more clothes. I have so many, and it’s not fair that I have to take a certain amount. How can I leave these babies behind? They’re my fashion, they represent me! How can I just move to another state and leave these behind with those boys?! Who knows what they’re going to do to them! As far as I can guess, they’ll probably burn them, or rip them to shreds. They’ll make them pay!
“Oh for Christs sake, Allison! They’re just clothes!” I yelled at myself. Geez, sometimes I’m so lucky no one can read my mind. I’ve been arguing with myself for the past hour on what to bring! I should just grab some clothes and go! Besides I’ll probably be bringing cash, so I could just buy myself new clothes.
                Knock, knock.
My eyes flashed to the door. They were wide eyed and ready to move. I grabbed all of my clothes from my bed, and stuffed them under the bed. Then, I zipped up my suitcase and placed it in my closet, before shutting the door.
“Come in!” I yelled. I jumped on my bed to try and look as casual as I could. No way was anyone finding out what I’m planning.
“Hey, Allison!” Ren said. He walked inside my room and stood in front of my bed, looking uncomfortable. I frowned. Ren never looked uncomfortable before… Most of the time he looked as if he owned this place! Well he does… But still!
“What’s wrong?” I said as slowly as possible. Saying it slowly just showed him how confused I was. Ren opened his mouth, and I sat up to listen better.
“Um… You’ve got a… Um…” Ren stuttered. I furrowed my eyebrows. He sighed and pointed behind me. I turned around and looked at my bed head rest. On it, was a white bra hanging from the edge. My eyes widened and I grabbed it, before jumping up and throwing it inside my closet. Oops…
“Sorry about that. I was cleaning out my closet,” I lied, smoothly. I’m a good liar. Sometimes I think I should get a medal for this. Oh, maybe there could be an Olympics sport for this! I would definitely rob the Olympics of all their gold.
“Right… Ok… Well listen. We’ve had a boar incident… So I sent out Brendan to search for it. He’s new, so I’m sure he doesn’t know how to track. Can you please go after him?” Ren said.
“If he’s new, then why did you send him out, alone?” I replied.
“Well, the kid’s gotta lean somehow!” Ren crossed his arms over his chest. His muscles flexed under his black T-Shirt. I was going to hit his nerve any second now.
“What did the boar do?” I asked.
“He messed with our food. Half of it is gone, and the other half is sprawled all over the forest. We don’t even know how he got in.” Maybe that’s what everyone was arguing about yesterday…
“Um… Boars don’t just come out and eat food…” I raised an eyebrow. How come this story seemed false? A boar… Coming into the house… To eat our food? May I be the first to say ‘the fuck!?’
“Thank you, boar expert!” Ren said, sarcastically. He continued, saying, “This one did! Now can you PLEASE just go find Brendan?” I’m in no mood to be arguing at the moment. I grabbed one of my leather jacket and put on some brown leather boots. I was still wearing my pajama clothes, but I don’t care. I could stay all day in them, if you’d let me! ... So much for the fashion…
I dragged my lazy ass downstairs and went into our chamber. Out chamber mainly consists of weapons. It has 10 backpacks full of water, medical supplies, food, and a gun. There was also 10 other bags full of nothing but guns and knives. The rest of the chamber was full of every time of gun and sword imaginable. I grabbed one of the backpacks full of only weapons, and headed out.
“Where you going?” Kaidan said. He was on the couch watching TV. I open the door and turned my head to look at him.
“Ren wants me to help Brendan track down a boar. I’ll be back soon. See ya,” I said. I can’t talk to him. I’m going to leave Adrissa, and I know he’ll be devastated. But he’ll move on. All of the guys will.

                                                                * * * *

“It’s a footprint. Based on the weight and the distance between strides, I’d say you’ve been follow John for about an hour,” I said, appearing out from behind a tree. Brendan turned around swiftly, and raised his gone. I tilted my head and he lowered it when he saw it’s just me. His confused face quickly turned into anger.
“What are you doing here?” Brendan asked. He was only a teenager, just like me. Except younger. Maybe 15 or 16. I felt bad for him, I mean I know how it feels to be the outsider. Everyone stares at you. Brendan is the youngest member of our gang, and our newest. He’s smart but not smart enough to be a fighter.
“I need your help,” I replied. I shut my eyes tightly and pressed my lips together. Shit! What the fuck was I thinking!? Brendan stared at me in curiosity. I guess no one’s asked him for help before.
“What?” He asked slowly. He may be new, but he knew our code language for suspicious and curious.
“It’s simple. You can’t track that boar without my help, and the gang will kill you if you come empty handed. Over the last few hours you’ve managed to follow the tracks of humans, birds, a rock slide, yourself… Basically, everything but a boar. You have no idea what you’re doing. Let me help you, and all you have to do in return is help me.” I can’t believe I’m doing this. What was I thinking? Maybe I should just shoot him, and then just make up an excuse for the gang… Say he was a spy or something…
“What’s you’re proposition?” Brendan asked. He had put the gun away, and was now just staring into my eyes. I could tell he doesn’t trust me, and I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t really trust myself either.
I sigh, “I want you to drive me to the airport. I’m leaving Adrissa.”
Ok, next chapter, I PROMISE you something more exciting will happen! :) So stay tuned! :) We love you guys! –Denny and Macey xx
