Half a Story: What Never Was

Bad boy Mark, asks out goody-goody Ellie after months of working up the courage. She says no & he feels stupid. That's only half the story.

Ellie makes the accidental mistake of saying no to Mark & thinks that he hates her. That's only half the story.

The fantasy half of this story, watch as the halves make up a whole story.

3. The perfect oppitunity

Ellie's POV

On Wednesday, we went into assembly, like we do every week. It's in our dining hall, a large room with stacks of chairs & tables to one side and a platform filled with seats for when we have large crowds of people in here at a time. I sat with my best friends Amelia, Jamima & Hailey. Jamima's the only one who's in the same class as me, though. We were in the middle of a conversation about Hailey's 'new' boyfriend, when our head of year came in. As the hall fell silent, I noted that, due to the fact she had a huge grin plastered across her face, what she had to say must be good news. "Children," she said briskly, in a voice that could be heard from the school next door, "As a school we, at Pokelm's, have raised lots of money throughout the years & have decided to reward our year 8s by having a Valentine's dance!' She paused, obviously expecting a reaction. When she didn't get one she continued, "Of course you can wear whatever you want & it will be here, Valentine's night. You may now go back to class." Without a moment's hesitation, she left, a trail of students following.

Mark's POV

When the normal rumble of chatter returned, I had a light-bulb moment. If there was ever a time to ask Ellie out & for her to say yes, it's at the dance on Valentine's day! I was with my mates Tom, Jimmy & James at the time, however, I'm not going to tell them. At first, I told Tom about my crush, but as time went on he thought I'd just forgotten about it. After school, I was walking out of the school gates when Brittany rushed up to me. "There! Now you have to ask her out!" As she stressed the 'have', I saw a sparkle in her eye. Brittany's my cousin, the only one who can help me through my madness right now. You could sort of say she's my personal spy, gathering info about my crush for me. Luckily, she's good friends with Elle, meaning she can discover info & give hints. "So, what info do you have for me this time?" I said in a hushed tone, rubbing my hands eagerly. You know, like villans do. Except obviously, I'm not a villan. "Right, you know how she keeps on saying no to you?" I nodded. How I knew. "Well, aparently, if you do get her to say yes, you won't have to worry about her dumping you, because she'd never. I nodded at that relieved. That's one worry that's been playing on my mind, that I can now tick off. Here's my list of worries:

- I'll get teased,

- I'll lose a load of street cred,

- Teacher's will be all "Oh, why can't you be more like Ellie" (Though, they do that already),

- Tom won't be my friend,

- Getting shunned.

I'm not sure how to cope with the other things though.
