It Started With a Dream (A One Direction Fan Fiction)

As Charley, Karilin, Laurel, Mary, Callie, Diana, and Diana's boyfriend, Chance leave high school in the states, they decide to go to England, the girls hoping to find fame in the place they've wanted to go all their lives. What will they find in the place of their dreams? Is it what they're looking for? Or is it more?

1. Airport

Charley's POV.

I paced around my room, making sure I didn't forget anything important for my stay in England. My girls would be there to pick me up at any minute, now. I went over my 'Most Vital Items' list one last time.

Phone, check. Clothes, of course. Cash, got it. Purse, in hand. Laptop, check. iPad... I ran around my room, stupidly searching for it. After a few seconds, I realized it was in my hand, as that was what my list was on. Wii with all of my favorite games, check. Chargers... Those were all in my purse. Ray-bans, on my head. Apartment keys, check.

"Charley!" I heard Karilin shout as she entered my front door. "Come on! The other four are waiting in the van!"

"I'm so excited, Kar-bear! I'm going to die of happiness! We finally get a chance at living our dream."

"I know! We've fangirled the whole way here!" She said, sounding as excited as I was.

"Aw! Without me?" I asked, jokingly.

"What's taking so long?" Mary asked, walking inside.

"You really should hide your key better, by the way." She had a huge smile on her face.

"Try telling my mom that." I replied, rolling my eyes but still ecstatic

"I will. But we still have to pick Laurel up. So can we speed up the process?" Mary said, obviously wanting to get to the airport quickly.

"Kay." I said, slipping on my sparkly TOMS.

We all walked out the door together, locking it behind us.

My driveway was short. So the walk to the van lasted seconds.

Karilin went to the driver's seat of her van and sat down. I would be sitting shotgun, as I called it two months ago, so I could control the music. In the middle section of  the van sat Diana and Chance, her boyfriend, who was tagging along with us. He'd been included in our plans from the start. He and Diana had been dating since the sixth grade. They obviously loved each other, so it was obvious that Chance would get to come with us. Callie, Mary, and Laurel would all be sitting in the very back.

"Okay, children. First of all, Chiana, get a room." They had been making out under Chance's jacket for the last few minutes. "Diana, that may work with your practically deaf father, but we can all see and hear what you're doing."

"Thanks, Charley. I love you too." Diana said sarcastically.

"I lerv you bunches!" I replied. Everyone laughed. "But seriously, Diana, you know we love you." I continued.

"I lerv you bunches, Diana." Said Chance.

"Aw! You two are so cute!" Callie said.

"Okay, but seriously, what song do we want to hear? I brought the CD." I said in a sing-song voice.

"I Would!" Karilin said. We were all directioners. Except Chance. We'd be driving him crazy for the rest of his life with our love of 1D.

"Promise you wont sign it this time?" I asked. "A wreck does NOT sound exciting at any point in time, child."

"I wont if you don't." She replied.

"I think not! I'm not the one driving here. Not happening. I have to sign my L-O-V-E at the least."

"Fine. I wont sign the song. But, girl, you cray if you think I wont sing." She replied.

"I didn't say no singing." Was all I said before I started the song.

"Lately I found myself thinking. Been thinking about you a lot!" We sang at the top of our lungs.

"I HEAR COWS!" Callie said, jokingly.

"MOO." I shouted back.

I smiled as we pulled up to Laurel's house. Karilin and I got out and I pulled out my key to her front door.    "LAUREL! GET YO FUNKY BUTT DOWN THESE HERE STAIRS." I shouted, before noticing that she was standing behind the door.

"Hey, you know, my ears might be bleeding now. But thanks for getting my attention." She said loudly. "I bet the neighbors heard you." She finished sarcastically, a bit more quiet.

"Thank you, oh amazing, sarcastic one." I replied. "That was my goal."

"Goal, reached." She said, handing me her carry-on.

"Do you really need this many bags?" Karilin asked.

"WELL, since we'll be living in England, I think so." She said, keeping her sarcastic tone.

"You excited?" I asked her.

"YOU KNOW IT." She shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Lets get back to the car." I said, smiling.

"They'll come after us if we stand here any longer."

"Guys. We're getting ready to live our dreams. Pieced Together is going to London. You ready?" I said seriously. I loved making mini speeches. This seemed like the time for one.

"Of course we are. Why else would we be here?" Callie asked with a small giggle.

"I'm glad. I love you guys." I replied happily.

We were all standing at the entrance to the airport. Holding hands and laughing, hugging. None of us could have been happier.

"Children, we're going to miss our flight." I said, getting ready to open the door and walk inside.

Before I could, a tall, muscular, brown haired boy walked up to me. It was Louis. Louis Tomlinson.

One Direction is in LA? I asked myself. Then I remembered that they had their final concert of the Up All Night Tour here two days ago.

"Hi." I said, smiling shyly and looking at my friends' shocked faces.

"Hello!" He said, giving me a warm smile. "I saw you about to open the door and I thought, 'Now why should that beautiful girl have to open that door herself?' And so I came to open it for you!" He said, smiling cheekily.

"Thank you!" I said, smiling back. Just then, a pigeon landed near us. "Kevin!" I whispered, trying not to let Louis hear me. "Come back, Kevin!"

"Oh, so you do know who I am." He said. "Louis Tomlinson, at your service."

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.

"Kevin really should stop running from us, shouldn't he?" Louis was adorable. The thing was, I had a special place for him in my heart, though I loved all five of the boys, Louis was just the one I absolutely couldn't resist. "Where are you flying to?" he asked.

"Oh, London." I looked at his shoes and smiled.

"Me too. I'd like to get to know you. Want to sit with me on the plane?" He asked.

"Only if you have carrots." I replied.

"It's a really good thing I do." He said, pulling a carrot out of the pocket of his blue skinny jeans.

"Truly." I replied happily. This had to be one of the best days of my life.

"I'm sorry, love. I didn't happen to get your name." he said suddenly.

"Charley." I said, and smiled back up at Louis.

"I like it. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl."

I couldn't believe this moment. Louis Tomlinson told me I was beautiful. Twice. To my face. I really didn't think I was that pretty. I had long, wavy brown hair with natural blonde highlights. I was about 5'6. I never wore makeup as it took so much time to put on. I had blue eyes with little green specks in them. I looked ordinary.

He could obviously tell my thoughts on what he said. I could tell by the look on his face. In it, I could see determination, worry, happiness, and sadness all at once.

"You're beautiful, okay? I'm going to make you believe this. No matter how long it takes." He said, seriously.

I looked away to see that Diana, Chance, Mary, Callie, Laurel, and Karilin were huddled in a group with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik, whispering a few feet away.

"Louis, do you think we should go over with the rest?"

"Yes." he said, as if he had the same thought.

We slowly walked over, trying to hear what they were whispering about.

"We must get those two together." I heard Karilin say.

"They're adorable!" Mary whispered in response.

"Are they talking about us?" I asked in a very quiet whisper.

"I think so." he replied.

We listened a bit more and I heard, "Charley would kill us if she thought we were playing matchmaker with her again. So we have to keep this quiet." It was Diana who said this.

I heard responses of "True", "I can keep my mouth shut.", and "So true."

I looked at Louis. "Want to turn this around?"

"Play matchmaker ourselves?" he asked. "I'm in. I can get dirt on who likes who from the boys." he whispered.

"And I, from my girls." I finished.

"This is going to be fun." he said.

With that, we both closed the distance between us and the rest.

"What have you all been talking about?" Louis asked, pretending he hadn't heard a word they said.

"Nothing." Harry lied quickly.

"Well, we're about to miss our flight, we better go." Mary said.

Louis walked me all the way through the airport and on the plane. We sat down together, talking the whole time.

"So, I want to know all about you. Your favorite color, your birthday, favorite food, animal. I want to know you." Louis said seriously.

"Um, well. Okay. My favorite color is purple. My birthday is March 4th, 1994. My favorite food would have to be carrots. My favorite animal... Well, I like most animals, really. I'm an animal person."

"You probably know my favorite color is red. My birthday is December 24th. You also know my favorite food, carrots. And that I like pigeons. What's your favorite band?" he asked.

"Well, there's this amazing band called One Direction. And theres this really amazing, cute boy in it called Louis. I think I like him." I said quietly. "What about you?"

"Oh, well, there's this girl band called Pieced Together. They're really amazing. And there's this one girl in it who's sweet, and beautiful, and amazing. She's an incredible singer. And I know I like her back." he said, looking into my eyes.

I had told him about our band on the way in. So he had pulled out his phone and found us on youtube. He watched our cover of Little Things. He said it was beautiful.

I was still looking into Louis' eyes. As I did, he leaned in and gently brushed his lips against mine.
