Chapter 3:

Jamie’s POV:

*3 weeks after the accident*

I keep thinking about that night, about the fire. Asking myself the same old question, why was it my parents? I took the picture of my family out of my pocket and looked at it with sad, lonely eyes, wondering if their up in heaven looking down on me, protecting me from all harm.

It was about, well I don’t know for sure, around 5:30 pm. I figured I probably will try to go find food. Since I don’t have any left after I bought that apple. As I was walking through central park, after a good 10 minutes I found an old lady on a park bench feeding her grandson, im assuming. I walked up to her to ask her if she had any food she could lend me. “Excuse me ma’am?” I asked politely while shivering a little bit. “Yes may I help you?” in an old lady voice while standing up and walking in front of her grandson, probably protecting him. Looking at her with sweet, innocent eyes I said, “Oh I don’t mean you any harm, it’s just that I was wondering if you had any food to spare?” Looking at me with sorry eyes, she said yes and walked over to her bag and grabbed a sandwich, giving it to me she saw I was shivering. “Are you cold dear?” I nodded slowly. She took off her jacket and gave it to me. “Here you go; you need it more than I do.”

“Thank you miss, you’re so kind.” She replied saying thank you while walking off to her grandson. I love old people they’re so generous, sweet, kind, and adorable. I put the jacket on and walked away while eating the sandwich. I kept walking in central park until probably 10:30 pm. I decided I should rest until morning. I found a nice place under an old oak tree and sat there looking at the stars. I dosed off to sleep while dreaming about my parents.
