Hanging On

Katerine Willows was falling in two ways. She was falling into an unfathomable comatose, destroyed after her fiancé’s death and on a path of self destruction. Until her therapist forcibly sends her to Paris to help her pursue her once great career as a singer. Then she falls another way. A way she never expected to fall again. She fell in love. Will she allow the equally damaged Louis Tomlinson to heal her? Or will she continue down the cold and lonely road she started out on?

Hey! My first real writing, so fingers crossed! I know some of the things in here are cruel or messed up, but I don't mean anything against the people in it! It's purely fiction! Please enjoy and leave feedback! I'll update as often as possible. Xx -Alex

10. Chapter Nine

I woke up but didn’t open my eyes. I was so warm. Was this a dream? I sighed and wrapped my arms around his neck, melting into him. His fingers were tracing circles into my back gently, steadily keeping pace. I let one hand slide down to his chest, feeling his heart beat beneath my palm. I smiled, feeling his lips delicately brush my ear as his chest rumbled when he spoke.

“Good morning, Kat.” I froze, registering the voice. Could this really be happening? I sat up, my breaths labored as I panicked. “Katie, what’s wrong?” I looked into Louis’s concerned face.

“I thought…I…I was dreaming…” my words faltered, choking back a sob. Louis looked at me, realization in his eyes.

“You thought I was Toby.” I couldn’t place the emotions in his voice. I flung back the covers and walked to the bathroom. “Katie, what are you doing?”

I shut the door behind me, bracing myself against the counter. I felt the strength leaving me, depression threatening to sink in. I lunged for the drawer, pulling my pills out. These would take it all away; they would make me feel nothing again. I tried to twist the lid off, but it wouldn’t budge. I began to panic, banging it against the counter, digging my fingernails under the lid. “Open!” I yelled. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around me, forcing the bottle to fall on the counter and out of my restricted reach. “What are you doing?!” I began panicking.

“Katie, calm down. You’ll be fine,” Louis said quietly into my ear. I tried to wriggle free but it was no use.

“I need those now! Louis let me go I need them!” I screamed. He began pulling me away from the counter. I started thrashing, kicking him. I felt him stumble slightly as I nailed his shin, giving me an opportunity to free my left arm. I swung it back, connecting with his shoulder, pulling myself back to the counter. “Louis I need them now!”

Suddenly I was tackled onto the floor, my arms pinned again. I was dragged back again, still thrashing. “Katie, stop it!” I screamed at his order and scratched his arm. I heard him yell in pain slightly, but he didn’t let go. He picked me up and shoved me into a wall. Cold water suddenly fell on me. My eyes shot open and I gasped as he held me against the shower wall, never breaking his gaze with mine. I felt myself stop thrashing and relax, shivers beginning to run through me.

“Why did you do that, Louis?” I heard myself hoarsely ask. I was slowly calming down.

“You don’t need those pills, Kat,” he whispered.

“Don’t call me that. Only Toby calls me that. I need those pills.”

    “No you don’t!”

“You don’t know what I need!” I screamed.

“You need me!” I stopped. “Kat you need me.”

“Stop calling me that! You aren’t Toby!” I slapped him.
“Your damn right I’m not!” Louis yelled. “I am not Toby! Toby is dead! He’s never going to come back and save you, Kat. He will never save you again! He’s never going to hold you or kiss you ever again because he is dead!” He let go of me and I slid down the wall, a sob escaping. He looked down at me. “Katie, I’m sorry I didn’t mean it.”

I stood up, shoving him away from me. “You sick bastard. You stupid, sick bastard. Leave me alone. Get out of here! I don’t need anybody! I don’t need you to save me! You aren’t supposed to save me!” I started pounding on his chest. He backed into the door, letting me go. “You aren’t supposed to be able to save me! You hate me, just like they all did. You hate me, Louis.” I kept hitting him.

I felt myself slow down, my fists loosening. Louis gently grabbed my wrists and pulled me into him, our wet bodies connecting. “I want to save you, Kat.” I looked up into his eyes, tears falling from mine. He leaned forward and our lips connected. His hands went behind my neck and around my waist, keeping me firmly against him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my fingers entwining through his wet hair. Our lips began to work in sync, the kisses slowly deepening. His lips forced mine open and his tongue made its way into my mouth. I groaned slightly, his hands coming under my legs and lifting me so I was sitting on his hips. He carried me to the bed as I took his shirt off, our lips coming apart for only a second. My shirt and was thrown off and Louis left my mouth to work on my neck and collarbone. His hands were warm as they traveled down my stomach, causing me to gasp. I closed my eyes, letting him envelop me.

Suddenly, a knock came at the door. “Katie, it’s Harry. Have you seen Louis he didn’t come back last night?”

“Mmm?” he answered as he kept nipping at my collarbone.

“Louis I have to answer the door.” He kissed me again. “I can wait,” I whispered against his lips. I felt him smile.

“Good girl.” I felt him undo the button on my pants as he tugged them down.

“KATIE! Are you awake?” He pounded at the door again.

“Stay here, I’ll be back quickly.” Louis pecked my lips again and grabbed his shirt, answering the door.

I let out an exasperated sigh. I should probably make an appearance. I buttoned my jeans again and pulled my shirt back on but I stopped at the corner, listening to their conversation.

“Harry, she’s asleep right now. She’ll be alright I promise.” Louis sounded irritated.

“Look, I just wanted to see if she was better from last night. You did, after all, get her in plenty of trouble.” Harry sounded just as angry, if not more.

    “What are you talking about?”

“Have you checked the internet at all today? There are articles and pictures about what happened last night between you, me, Katie and Trent and they aren’t good. They’re saying things that aren’t true and we need to sort this out.”

I came out. “What are they saying about me?” Harry looked at me sympathetically.

“I’m sorry, Katie. I shouldn’t have made a scene last night.” He looked me over again. “Are you wet?”

I realized my hair must have looked terrible. “It doesn’t matter, Harry. What are they saying about me?” Louis grabbed my arm.

“I’m not so sure you want to see it,” he said quietly, his eyes resting on Louis’s hand.

“I’ve been through a hell of a lot worse, I’m sure. Let me see it now.” Harry shrugged and beckoned for me and Louis to follow. We went into his hotel room and to the already opened laptop. “Where are the others?”

“Sleeping off last night’s party, I’m afraid. Try to keep it down.” Harry pushed the laptop towards me and Louis as we sat on the couch. “This is the least of all evils, I suppose.”

“Unbelievable,” Louis whispered. I could only nod as I read, words failing to come to me. I knew it was going to be bad, but not like this.

Although last night was set out to be a party night for the members of One Direction, that was not the case. Eyewitnesses claim to have seen Louis Tomlinson knocking out another party-goer, Trent Matthews. Matthews was with a girl who was later identified as Katerine Willows before Tomlinson interrupted them. Willows is the ex fiancée to deceased famous singer Toby DeRimes and hasn’t been seen for six months.

After Tomlinson confronted Matthews, he was seen leaving with Willows close behind. Another witness claims to have seen another One Direction heartthrob, Tomlinson’s friend Harry Styles, following her out. Matthews, with a bloody nose, soon followed them, wanting to continue the confrontation. One of our cameramen spotted Styles stopping an assault occurring between Trent Matthews and Katerine Willows. Styles carried her off scene back to his hotel. Is it possible they stayed the night together?

With reports of Willows’s erratic behavior surfacing from various friends and doctors, it’s not surprising that many Twitter followers of Styles began to fear for the safety of the heartthrob. Could this be Willows’s way of grieving for the man she ‘can’t live without’? Stay tuned to us for more news following this story.

I shouldn’t have woken up this morning. “Who’s been talking about me?” I whispered. Louis grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

“There’s an article strictly dedicated to you, Katie. It talks about your past and everything. Well, not exactly the truth. But it talks about you,” Harry said, reaching over me from my right to scroll down to another article.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea, Harry. She probably shouldn’t read it,” Louis said, trying to shut the laptop. I stopped him, opening it again.

“No, I want to see it. I want to know what they’re saying.” I clicked on the article, taking in every word.

A face recently seen that hasn’t been shown in a while is that of Ms. Katerine Willows, the fiancée to the late Toby DeRimes. She was spotted last night leaving a club with One Direction hotties Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles. She was reportedly raped by a man known in the party community as Trent Matthews and then ‘saved’ by Styles who happened to be ‘passing by’. Perfect timing or a desperate attempt at fame and attention?

Katerine Willows spiraled out of control six months ago after the death of Toby DeRimes occurred the day before their scheduled wedding. “She was ballistic,” states a source. “I came to her house because her mother had extended the invitation to everyone who wanted to pay respects. I was there for all of thirty seconds before she stormed downstairs, her hair all crazy and her face was pale. She started screaming at everyone to get out or she was going to stab us. Her mom tried calming her down but she just slapped her and kept screaming. I was scared.” Other witnesses claim to have seen her just weeks later getting wasted at several nightclubs and leaving with complete strangers. Those same strangers are said to have pulled restraining orders on Willows, calling her “unstable and too crazy to be around.” “She needs serious mental help,” said one. Willows was signed onto a therapist days later by her mother, desperately seeking a way to control her. Dr. Kevin Langston reportedly kept her under house arrest until she was stable enough to be driven to his office. She requested to be put on as many medications as possible, wanting to be “numb, not able to feel a thing.” Langston had advised against this but put her on the medications anyway. She grew more stable after this and was sent to Paris to find a singing agent as part of her therapy. Langston wanted to use this as a way to help control her and keep her mind on better times. Does this look like control, Doctor?

I closed the laptop after that, not wanting to see the rest. I couldn’t stand it. Why were they coming after me? What did I do to deserve this? Just because I was under the limelight for a few months and now they wanted to dissect my past.

“Katie, I’m so sorry this happened.” Harry was rubbing my back gently. I kept staring at the closed laptop, trying to piece it all together.

“Let’s go get something to eat, maybe you’ll feel better.” Louis tried to pull me up, but I didn’t move. “Kat?”

“No, we aren’t going anywhere.” I looked up at him and Harry. “They want more information to develop their stories, right? Let’s go give it to them. Only this time they’ll get the truth and nothing else. I’m not going to sit by and let them say this about us. I want them to hear the truth.” I stood up, pushing my hair back behind me. “Now, how do I get in touch with them?” It was time to face it; exposure.
