2. Josh

Josh...was he the one I loved? I mean, he is my boyfriend after all. But something in my heart tells me Louis just can't be replaced.

The doorbell rang. I told Mum I could get it, then opened the door to none other than Lou.

She was beautiful, and just how I remembered her. Lose the stringy ponytail and add makeup, and she's the same. She hadheair in a braid but in the same amazing shade of red. She had grown, almost to my height(!).

She smiled and gave me a hug. Sparks flew and everything was perfect. I didn't want to let go, so I squeezed her tighter. When I finally let go, she laughed the laugh I loved hearing every day.

"Lou-Boo, I missed you so much!" Claire said.

"I missed you more, Claire-Bear!"

We looked at each other, smiled, and said, "I MISSED YOU MOST!" at the exact same time.

She grabbed her coat, then my hand and dragged me outside. Her hand fit in mine perfectly, just like I remembered it did. I sat in the passenger seat and she drove.

"Now, where exactly are we going?" I asked, pretending to be scared. She looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes I get lost in every time.

"Here." she said. I looked through the window.

The park.

We used to play at this park almost every day. I saw the tree patch we used to invade with our mad climbing skills, and the playground we used to play house on. Then my eyes scanned over to the football area, where we used to kick the ball into the goal. I usually won at that, of course.

I saw the willow tree. The willow tree, willow tree, willow tree.

Claire saw me staring at it.

"You're looking at the willow tree, aren't you?" I asked Lou.

"Uh, yeah. I guess. Haha." He said, awkwardly.

"You don't have to feel awkward. The kiss we shared was amazing. To be honest, my lips are still tingling!" I laughed. But I meant it, something seriously romantic happened when we shared that kiss.

"Thanks, Claire-Bear, you know how to make me feel comfortable. So why did we kiss again?" I wondered, trying to recall the reason.

"LOU!? YOU FORGOT?? WHAT KIND OF FRIEND ARE YOU??" Claire screamed at me. I felt tense and worried. Then she laid back against the chair, laughing her head off. She gave me a little punch in the arm.

"DUDE! YOU SHOULDA SEEN YOUR FACE!! HAHA!!!" That's what I love about her, along with everything else, but the fact that she can be sarcastic, then laugh it off. Soon we were both in a laughing fit.

Just then, a beeping noise took over.

"Sorry, it's my phone." Claire said.

My phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey! What are you up to today?" I heard the voice of my boyfriend.

"Oh, just hanging with an old friend!" I looked over to Lou and winked.

"Cool! Are you up to seeing a movie with me tonight? Or anything you want, because you know, you're my girlfriend." Josh stammered. I hated when he was like this. I already know that! I won't be your girlfriend much longer if you keep saying that! I thought to myself.

"You know, I'd love to! But I haven't seen my friend in two years, so I kinda wanna hang with him." I replied, desperate to get off the phone. I knew I was wasting Lou's time. But I could see him smile when I told Josh the last part.

"Oh, I understand babe," HATE WHEN HE CALLS ME THAT "So who's the friend?" Josh asked. Why is he still talking to me? Did I not make it obvious that I wanted to stop the conversation? Then again, he's really clueless.

"Oh, you've never met him. His name's Louis." I said, smiling. Louis.

"He's a guy? Can I trust you? Wait-- no, yes, you're my girlfriend, but really--" I cut him off.

"We're FRIENDS." I lied. I knew we were more than that.

"Kay... I'll call you later??" Josh said.

"Um, I probably won't be around my phone...." I replied, really annoyed.

"I dunno, just probably won't!" I snapped. Then, I forgot how sensitive Josh was, and immediately remembered and regretted it.

"Oh....sorry. See you in Geography then. Love you." Josh said, obviously hurt. I didn't want to say love you back so I ended it with a 'Kay bye.'

When I FINALLY hung up, I looked at Lou. He could tell I was frustrated. He rubbed my neck with his strong hands. It was perfect.

"So whaddya say? Let's get outta your car and play like old times!" Lou suggested.

We hopped out of the car.

About three hours later, we were walking in the park hand in hand.  I had been telling him about college, how annoyed I am with Josh, and all sorts of stuff. He told me about his tour, the boys, and everything I didn't know (which by the way is not alot!). We stopped at the willow tree.

We looked into each others eyes and got lost.

"It's tradition." Lou said smiling.

"Aw, Lou-Boo! How can I resist?" I said. He pulled me close so our foreheads were touching.

Then, we kissed. It was the most passionate and best kiss I had ever had. Well, the only other kiss was the one when we were 15. I never kissed Josh because I know he just isn't my type.

We separated, then I blushed. We both laughed.

"Claire-Bear, I gotta tell ya something." Lou said, holding my hands.

"What is it?" We're best friends, tell me anything!" I said.

"But it might ruin our friendship." Louis said, with sad eyes.

"Oh. Well give it a try." I said, staying positive.

"I think I'm in love with you..."

"I know, I know, I figured you would hate me and not be my friend. Plus, you have a boyfriend, and I shouldn't be invading that." Lou-Boo said, looking down.

"No, Lou-Boo, I love you too. For real. Not best friend love. L-O-V-E in love. I have since the day my mom laid me down next to you on the blanket. I was two weeks old, you three. I didn't know it then, but you're my soul mate. I'm serious. Forget about Josh. He means nothing. I wanna be with you." I said, it came from the heart.

Louis was speechless. A tear rolled down his face, then I started bawling. We were wiping each others tears and he engulfed me in a hug.

"Claire-Bear....don't ever leave me, love." He said.

"Oh Lou-Boo. I won't. But we can't make this work." I said, crying again.

"Why? I love you, you love me, that's all that matters." Louis said.

"I know, but you in One Direction and me in college. It's impossible." I said, in a full sob.

"Shh...shh....nothing's impossible. Especially with a love as strong as ours. Shh...shhh..." Lou said. His buff arms were wrapped tight around me. I knew I was safe.

"Let's go home. My parents left while we were out and will be gone for the weekend. Sleepover?" I asked.

"Course, love."
