Savannah's POV

"Thank you for tonight," I hugged Sam goodbye as he dropped me off at the hotel.

"You're welcome, I had a lot of fun," he smiled and checked the time. He chuckled, "We made it just in time, it's two till ten."

I shook my head and laughed, thinking of Louis. I knocked on the door, and Eleanor opened it, motioning us to come in. We both sat in the couch, looking at Eleanor on the phone. "What, no. - Yeah, they're here. - They just got back. - Louis, shut up," she spoke through the phone. I through my head in my hands and shake my head. Sam just laughed it off. "Louis, yes they're hear. They're right in front of me!"

She sighed and handed me the phone. "He wants to talk to you. I swear, that boy is…," she thought of a word to describe her boyfriend, "special."

I took the phone, "Hello?"

"Savannah! How was it! Is Sam still here?"

"Yeah, he's still here, sitting right next to me."

"Did you have fun? How was it?"
"Yeah I did... Isn't it like three o'clock in the morning over there. Why are you still awake?"

"Oh, don't worry, it's only four. I just woke up a few minutes ago to make sure he listened to me. There has to be some kind of discipline around here," he acted like he was the king of everything, or, the Sass Masta.

"Louis…" I began to say but he cut me off.

"Now, since all is good, I'm going to go to bed now. Goodnight Savannah!! Tell Eleanor I tell her goodnight too, okay?"

"Yeah, goodnight! Talk to you tomorrow!" I hang up the phone and handed it back to Eleanor. "So… how was it? What movie did you see?" she sat down across from us and smiled, anxiously waiting for our response.

"We didn't see a movie, well, because there wasn't good ones to see, so we just walked around the Fountains area. It was fun though."

"That's good. Where did you eat?"

"Fuddruckers," I say as DJ walks in in her pajamas and her doll and blanket. Her hair was a mess, she probably has been sleeping and woke up when we came in. She smiled when she saw us and walked over to us. She sat in between Sam and I, and cuddled closer to me, nuzzling her head in my lap.

"Did we wake you up?" Sam poked DJ. DJ sat up and looked at him. She nodded, "Yeah, and I was having a very good dream. And no poking me!" she pouted, and stuck her tongue out at him. He laughed and poked her again. His phone rang, "Hello? - Oh, yeah, oops. - Yeah, I'm coming, just hold on a few minutes. - K bye."

He shoved his phone back in his pocket and stood, "That was Nathan, they're waiting for me."

DJ got up and hugged him before running off to the bedroom. I walked to the door following Sam, and Eleanor walked up to him.

"I'm going to see you more often right?" she smiled. Sam shyly shrugged and nodded, "Yeah."

"That's good, I'm going to go check on DJ, bye Sam!" she hugged him and walked away. I opened the door and closed it behind us.

"You don't have to walk down with me, I'll be fine."

"You sure?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine," he smiled.

"Thanks again for tonight," I hugged him one last time, "oh, and sorry about Kylee and Mary. They're a little crazy."

"Oh, no problem about them. I'll text you later?"

I nodded.

"Goodnight! See you Monday," he walked in the elevator and waved.

"Goodnight!" I waved back. I walked back towards  the hotel room.

"So, Savannah, what did y'all do on your date last night?" Mary smirked as the three of us sat down in a booth at Olive Garden. It was Kylee's birthday in a few days, and we were celebrating it tonight.

"I'm going to kill you two if y'all don't know that by now," I glared at them while they smiled.

"Bye the way," I shifted in the booth, "why did you guys tell Sam?"

Their eyes were opened wide, "He told you about that!" Kylee half-shrieked. I nodded, still glaring at them. "If we weren't in public right now, I would have thrown mustard and mayo on your heads, but we are," I warned them.

"You know what, Kylee?" Mary totally changing the subject. "You should've invited One Direction. That would've been pretty fab."

"I know, that would've been," she sighed. "You still talk to them right?" she asked me.

I nodded, "Every night. They even gave Sam a talk yesterday."

"Who's idea was it?" Kylee started laughing.

"Who do you think?" I smirked.

"Louis. Or Harry. I don't know."

"It was Louis' idea, obviously."

"My goodness, that child. Are we going to see them again?"

I shrugged, "I don't know."

"Maybe they'll be so generous and hand us over some Madison Square Garden tickets. What a dream come true."

"Dream on, Mary."

"Good evening, my name is Liam and I'll be your waiter, what can I get you ladies to drink?" the waiter, who was probably in his twenties asked us. He took our order and walked away.

"He's a cutie," Mary whispered as soon as he disappeared from our view.

"Shut up, Mary!" I slapped her arm.

"What, he isn't yours."

My phone lit up on the table and started ringing. I hesitated, reading the caller I.D., before answering.

"Good evening, Savannah! Hope you're doing well," Mr. Hunter greeted me on the other end of the line.

"I'm doing fine, thank you."

"I was thinking of meeting you tomorrow, is that fine? Or next Saturday? I'm sorry for not being able to meet with you earlier, I've been very busy."

I thought about it for a minute.

"Next Saturday is good. Where do you want to meet?"

"Is it okay we meet in Dr. Adam's office?"

"The hospital?"

"Yeah, is it fine? I could meet you somewhere else if you want."

"No, it's fine."

"1:30 is good?"

"Uh, yeah. It's great."

"See you then, Savannah, have a good night!"

"You too," I hung up and plopped my phone on the table.

"So, what did he say?" Kylee took a bite out of her garlic bread. I shrugged, "he wants to meet up and talk about stuff."

"Can we not talk about it now?"

"Did he kiss you!" Mary squealed out of the blue. It was her who can change the topic like that. I looked at her, and I guess I started to smile and blush a little. Both Kylee and Mary's eyes were opened big, and they're faces were priceless.

"He did!" Kylee looked like she was going to explode.

I slightly nodded, "Thanks," I smiled at Liam who handed my drink. He took our order and left us. Mary looked like she had calmed down a bit, yet she was still smiling uncontrollably. On the other hand, Kylee looked like she was a volcano ready to erupt.

"Wait, let me get this straight, Savannah. He kissed you! Give us the deets! Give us the deets!" Mary jumped in her seat. "But didn't you see? I mean, y'all were stalking us…"

"Nope! Tell us!" Kylee somehow managed to say.

I played with my straw and told them the story.

"Did he make it official?" Kylee whispered 'official' across the table. I shook my head, "not as far as I know."

"I'm going to talk to him Monday."

"Don't you dare. I will kill you, not that I am not right now," I warn Kylee. She just smiled and took a sip out of her Coke, "I know you love me."

I dreaded this whole entire week, I could barely concentrate on school. Ever since Mr. Hunter called, I couldn't stop worrying about Saturday. First, why does he want to meet in the hospital? And second, what he's going to talk about: where will DJ and I go? I wanted Josh to be here with me. He could've chosen the right decision. I pray hard that it's not away from here. There was no way I wanted to leave my best friends. I also thought what I was going to do for Eleanor. She stayed with the two of us this whole time, and she didn't even have to.

"You okay?" It was almost 10:30 on Thursday night, and I was slowly doing my geometry homework. I look up and Eleanor walks in in her pajamas.

I shrugged, "yeah, I'm fine."

"You need help?" she came and sat next to me on the bed.

I shook my head and looked up at her, "I got it. it's just too many steps. I finished my other homework."

"You seemed worried this whole week, is everything okay?"

I finish the last problem and shut my book. I sighed, "Mr. Hunter wants to see me on Saturday, and I have a feeling I know what we'll talk about, and I was hoping it would've been Josh and I instead of just me."

"What's that?"

"What's going to happen to DJ and I. He wanted to talk about it last time, but I told him to wait till Josh wakes up."

"I could take you in."

I looked at her, "No, Eleanor, we're probably too much trouble. You've been too good to us, I don't even know how to thank you. I'm still thinking of what to give you."

"You don't need to give me anything, silly! I don't want anything. I actually enjoyed these past few weeks," she nudged me, smiling. I smiled in return, "but El-"

"Hey! No buts."

I leaned back against the pillows and sighed, "Eleanor, Eleanor, Eleanor."

"He wants to meet you on Saturday?"

I sat back up and nodded, "yeah, at the hospital. 1:30."

She thought for a minute, "Hey, maybe after, if it doesn’t take too long, or maybe on Sunday, I say we go to Galveston. Just the three of us."

"That'll be great, Eleanor, that really will be."

"I’m going to go take a quick shower, finish up and go to bed, it's getting late, okay?"

"Okay, just let me study vocab quickly, won't take that long!" I throw my math book in my backpack and search for the vocab book.

Eleanor dropped me off at the hospital, while she went off and did some quick errands. I insisted DJ to go with her, I didn't want her in this conversation. Unfortunately, I was the oldest, and I had to make the choices. I walked passed the front desk and through the hallway. I looked at the time, and I was five minutes late. I shrugged, 'whatever' I muttered to myself. Let's just get this thing over with. I knocked on the door and opened it slowly. He sat down on Dr. Adams' desk with files, covering part of it. he looked up when he heard the door closed. "Good afternoon, Savannah," he smiled.

"Hi." I sat down on the chair across from him.

"I'm sorry I didn't talk to you, I was really busy. There was a case I had to take care of."

'I'm actually glad, I don't want to be here anyway.' I thought to myself. "Oh, it's okay," I said aloud to him.

"How have you been doing? I'm sorry for your loss, again."

"I've been doing better, thank you."

"We have your parents' will, but that will have to wait a while, maybe a few days…" he started talking about nonsense. Most of the stuff didn't make sense to me, whatsoever. I mean, I was still fourteen, fifteen in May. How would I have any clue about these now?

"What's going to happen to me?" I whispered, not wanting to know the answer. He looked up from the paperwork he was filling out which was spread out on the desk.

"I don't know, Savannah. But as for right now, I think we might have to put you in some kind of orphanage or in a foster care group. We'll settle it out soon."

"A foster care group? Can't I just stay with my one of my friend's family until I'm 18 and move out?"

He shook his head.

"What about Ben? Alyssa's boyfriend? He's willing to take us in. He told me."

"I'm afraid not. I'm sorry," he said, looking back at the papers.

"Whatever you do, DJ's staying with me. You can do anything with us together, you cannot separate us."

"I'll do my best, Savannah."

"What do you mean you'll do your best!? She's my sister for crying out loud! You can't separate us! Before Josh died he made me promise him that we stick together! She's the only family I have left and your going to take me to a new world and you're now saying DJ might not be with me! You're insane!"

"Savannah, please calm down. I told you I'll do my best."

I slumped back in my seat. I didn't realize I had stood up. This was NOT happening. I was leaving my best friends and hometown to who knows where, and possibly without DJ. That cannot happen.

"Is there anything else I can do instead of going to a foster home?" I whispered, half expecting him not to hear me. He stayed quiet for a few minutes, flipping through papers, filling them out.

"Well, if someone decides to fully adopt you and DJ as part of their family in time of 31 days, then we don't have to send you to a foster care home."

"31 days?"

He nodded. "31 days."

"What if someone decides to adopt me after 31 days?"

He sighed. "We can arrange that later. But at 31 days, we'll send you to a foster family."

Before I could argue again or he could tell me anymore information, I heard a voice behind me.

"We'll adopt them."
