16. Leaving

Savannah's POV

I sighed, zipping up the suitcase on the bed. I walked over to the mirror and pulled my hair up in a ponytail. I checked the time: 8:23. Seven minutes till I spend my last day with my best friends before I left. There were many pros of being adopted, but at the same time, there were cons. I lived my whole life here, and everyone I knew lived here. Leaving was going to be harder than I thought. I walked to the kitchen and got myself a cup of water.

"You okay?" Eleanor walked in and heated some water.

I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine."

"You sure?"

I shrugged. "I guess, yeah."

"I'll take you to visit anytime you want, you know that, right?" She made herself a cup of tea and sat down across from me.

I smiled. "Thank you."

We heard a knock the door. I opened the door greeted by Mary and Kylee. "Whaddup?"

"No time for 'whaddup' silly, hurry up." Kylee hugged me as she and Mary walked in the room. How they took the adoption news? Well, they took it better than I thought they would.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Kylee greeted me at my locker. "Hola. Where's Mary?" I shut my locker and we walked to homeroom. Kylee shrugged. "I don't know, she might be running late. Why?"

"I have to tell y'all something." I mumbled. I was excited about being adopted, but at the same time I wasn't excited to leaving them.

"Oh."

We sat in our seats and I tried to change the subject. I texted Mary to see if she was going to be late or not. Typical Mary, she usually runs a little late. Five minutes before the bell she walked in, sitting in the desk in front of me. "Well, what do you want?"

"You guys know how I saw Mr. Hunter on Saturday?"

They nodded.

"Well, I kinda got adopted." I looked down and stared at the notebook on my lap. Their eyes got wide. "What do you mean, kinda got adopted?" Kylee asked me.

"I did."

"Savannah! That's amazing! Who adopted you?" Mary shifted in her seat.

"Uh, we'll… One Direction."

"What!" They boy shrieked, getting stares from almost everyone in the classroom.

"What do you mean One Direction? You're joking with us, right?"

"No, Kylee. I don't know how either."

"One Direction?" Mary couldn't get that to sink in. "So like they're going to be your five daddies?" Kylee and I started laughing. "What are you guys laughing?" Mary whined,  defending herself. "That's what you call adoption."

I calmed down and shook my head. "Not as 'daddies' silly, as brothers."

"Oh."

"But seriously, imagine them all being your daddy," Kylee said, still laughing.

"Kylee, shut up." Mary shoved her in the arm. She thought for a minute. "Savannah! That means you're moving to London?"

Kylee stopped laughing immediately looking at me. I shrugged and mumbled. "Yeah." I quickly added," But don’t worry I'll visit as many times as I can."

Kylee slightly smiled. "Don't worry about visiting us Sav. We can Skype and text everyday. Just look at the bright side. You have a family."

"You know I love you guys." I hugged Kylee, and Mary stood up and joined our little group hug.

"Terrible Tutu Trio forever?" Mary asked us, remembering the nickname Sally Hayes gave us at dance a few years ago.

"As if that's going to end soon," I commented, and we all laughed.

"Hey, that means you got to get us tickets. And I mean, Madison Square Garden tickets." Mary warned me.

"I'll ask them."

"No asks. If they don't accept I'll drag them by the collar until they accept."

We were interrupted by the morning announcements, and as soon as it finished, we continued talking. "But isn't it like on a Tuesday or something like that?" I laughed. Mary tends to aim for her goal, and she'll fight for it, desperately and evilly.

"Ya think I care? I will walk across the country to see them at MSG."

"Dang, Mary! Now don't you go hitting on Savannah's brothers." Kylee nudged her arm and high-fived me. Mary made a disgusted face. "Why do they have to be your brothers now? Sav, I hate you so much," she pouted. I gave her an evil smile.

"But hey," Mary began again. Oh that little stubborn tutu. "You hit on Kyle," she smirked.

"Ew, Kyle? I do not!"

"Watch it you two." Kylee eyed us right before the first bell rang and the three of us headed off to English.

I closed the door behind me and followed them in the kitchen. "Hey, girls!" Eleanor smiled at them.

"Hey, Eleanor!"

"Donde esta DJ?" Kylee looked around, but her favorite four year old wasn't around.

"She's still asleep, she had a rough night last night." Eleanor sipped her tea. As soon as she said it, DJ walked in the room in her pink cupcake pajamas, climbing on my lap. Her light brown hair was in a messed up ponytail, and she was tightly holding on to her blanket. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her head. "Are you feeling better?" I asked her as I redid her ponytail. She nodded, too tired to say anything. She waved at Kylee and Mary. "When is Stefanie coming?" She looked over at Eleanor who was pouring her a glass of milk. As I was going to spend the last day with my best friends, she was too.

"She'll be here in about an hour or so." Eleanor handed DJ her milk. Mary checked her phone and motioned to Kylee and I that it was time to leave. I had no idea what we were doing today. I said goodbye to Eleanor and DJ, and we walked outside to Kyle's car.

"Savannah! I haven't seen you in forever! How are you?" Kyle smiled at me as the three of us climbed in the car. It was true. Even though he was two years older than Josh, he used to come over many times, even if it was without Kylee. "Hey Kyle! I'm better, thanks."

Kyle dropped us off at the front of the mall. We walked in Macy's, and headed straight to the dresses. Each time we would go to the mall, we would spend most of our time trying on all types of dresses. From homecoming dresses to every day dresses. "It's not prom season yet," Mary pouted and she looked through the dresses.

"Chillax, Mary. It's still not even December yet," I said as I examined a royal purple dress.

"Dang, all these homecoming dresses are still out. Isn't it over?" Kylee asked.

"Who knows." I pass Mary a dress. "Try this one on, I think it'll look perfect on you!"

She examined it and looked up at me, giving me a disgusted face. "Really Savannah, really?"

I try to hold back my laughter, but I couldn't. Kylee looked at the dress that Mary was holding. She laughed with me. "Please, Mary. Try it on. It'll look perfect on you. Please."

Mary smirked and hung the dress up. "In you're dreams."

We stayed in Macy's for another hour or so, trying on dress and pretending we were at our 'Tutu Model Show.' We left Macy's and walked around the mall, window shopping. We were walking past Claire's when Mary stopped us, practically talking to herself.

"Savannah, ooh girl you're brothers are here. They have a One Direction pillow? I swear half their merchandise is for 8 year olds," she said looking through the handbags they had.

"Hey, didn't you need a new phone case?" I asked Kylee. She nodded. "Well, I think I found one for you." I hand her over a Justin Bieber phone case. She made a disgusted face. "Seriously guys, me and Justin Bieber don't go with each other. We're two different people, in a bad way. I'm the good person, he's not."

"Watch them get married. We'll let Justin know what she said," Mary whispered in my ear and laughed. Kylee rolled her eyes and we followed her outside the store.

It was a little after noon when we decided we were hungry. We walked to the food court and immediately headed to Chick-fil-A. No doubt about it it's our favorite fast food restaurant to go to.

"Where are you guys taking me?" After we ate, we went to a nearby park and walked around. Not long after, they dragged me back in Kyle's car and blindfolded me.

"You'll have to wait and see!"

It took almost twenty minutes to get to the mystery place. Kylee took the blindfold off of me and I rubbed my eyes until they were adjusted to the light.

"Why did you blindfold me to your house?" I asked Mary, who had a smirk on her face. She shrugged and walked out the car. "Bye, Kyle! Thanks for driving us." She smiled and walked over to the front door.

I shrugged it off and followed her out. "Thanks, Kyle!"

"Anytime! Hey wait, Kylee!" He opened the car door and ran out to me.

"Yeah?"

"I wanna hug before you leave!" He wrapped his arms around me and squeezed me a bit too tight. He didn't mean to; he was on the football team. "Promise to visit me okay? Not Kylee. She's not cool."

"Definitely, Kyle. Bye!"

We walked up to the door and Kylee immediately pressed the doorbell repeatedly.

"Kylee, chillax. My mom is going to get annoyed."

The door opened and Mrs. Williams opened the door. "Hey girls." She smiled and let us in. I followed Mary into the kitchen and grabbed a bag of chips. Mary opened the back door and let me go out first.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone jumped out of no where. Everyone from the whole grade, and some from sophomores too. About fifty people.

I squealed and jumped back, taken back by the surprise. The whole backyard was decorated from head to toe. "You guys did this?" I turned to face my two best friends. "Maybe," Kylee smirked. I hugged the both of them. "I love you guys so much. You're the best friends anyone can ask for."

"Savannah, you're going to make me cry!" Kylee hugged me back.

"Ah I'm gonna miss y'all so much."

"GROUP HUG!" Daniel screamed and soon enough we were having one of those big group hugs.

~

It was getting dark, and almost a three hours has past. People were leaving one by one, and I thanked each and everyone of them. I was talking to Kylee by the food when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hey." I turn around and see Sam, smiling. "Hey." I smiled back.

"I'll leave you two alone." Kylee smirked and walked away smiling.

"So you're leaving tomorrow?" Sam shoved his hands in his pocket, half-smiling.

I nodded. "Yeah, bright and early."

"I bet you're excited." He chuckled.

I shrugged. "There's both good and bad things about it. I mean, you know, I'm going to miss all of y'all."

He smiled and hugged me. "I'm going to miss you, too."

"Don't worry though I'll keep in touch and visit sometimes," I assured him.

"You better." He warned me. "So, you're going to London?"

I shook my head. "Going to Connecticut for a few days then New York for MSG, then London."

"Madison Square Garden. That's a place. Your brothers have a concert there?"

I nodded. "Yup. You've been there before?"

He nodded. "I've been there, just visiting. No concerts or anything."

"I could probably get you tickets to their concert." I joked.

His eyes widened. "Me? One Direction? Ew no! Never!"

I shrugged and crossed my arms over my chest. "Guess someone's missing out."

He laughed, shaking his head. "You taking Kylee and Mary?"

I smiled. "Maybe. They just don't know it yet. Don't you dare tell them Sam, I will literally hurt you."

"Don't worry I won't. When are you going to tell them?"

"Before I leave. I want to see their reaction live." I smirk.
"That's going to be interesting. You should record it and send it to the whole school."

I laughed. "I actually should. I'll at least send it to you, don't worry."

His phone started vibrating and he excused himself before answering.

"Hello? - Hey Nathan- Uh, yeah I guess - K see you - Bye."

He shoved it back in his pocket. "Nathan is going to be here any minute." He shrugged and sighed. I could tell he didn't want to leave. "I could walk you out," I offered and he smiled. We walked in the house and he thanked Mrs. Williams before we got to the front door. Nathan hasn't arrived yet so we waited.
"Promise you won't forget about me?"

"Sam, I'm serious I won't forget about you, I promise!" I gently shoved his shoulder. He chuckled and got serious, looking at his feet. "Could I have one more kiss before you go?" He looked back up at me.

I bit my lip and nodded, smiling. He took my hand and stepped closer to me, not breaking eye contact. He put his other hand around my neck and leaned in, closing the space between us. His phone vibrated, interrupting the kiss.

"It's Nathan. He's right there." He said pointing to his car. He looked back at me and hugged me one more time. I hugged him back tightly. "I'm going to miss you, Savannah."

I smiled slightly. "I'll miss you too."

When his brother's car was out of sight, I opened the front door and walked in.

Kylee, Mary, and I all helped Mary's mom clean up after the party. Louis and Zayn would be picking me up in half an hour. We picked up the last pieces of trash and I walked over to my bag. I searched through it, finding the envelope, and I grabbed it, hiding it in my hoodie. Kylee and Mary walked in the door and I skipped over to them. Mrs. Williams winked at me as she got out her phone, recording them.

"You seem a bit excited." Kylee eyed me.

I smirked. "Well…"

"I kind of have something for you." I stuck my hand in my pocket and got out the envelope. Mary widened her eyes. "Is that?! Is that what…"

I smirked nodding. "You're going to New York! We're going to New York!"

It's been our dream to go to New York together, really. Ever since fifth grade when Mary came back from New York, she told us how amazing it was. We decided that one day, we'll go together.

"I love you so freaking much did you know that!" Mary screamed and hugged me tight. Kylee just stood there, gaping, trying to process the information in her head. "I'm going to New York? I'm going to Madison Square Garden!"

I nodded excitedly. "Yes!"

She finally got back to reality, screamed, and hugged me. "This isn't real, is it?" She asked me as Mary snatched the envelope out of my hand. I shook my head. "Nope. Actually Liam offered to take y'all. It was his idea."

"Is Liam coming to pick you up?"

I shook my head. "I think Zayn and Louis are. I don't know."

"Dang it. Tell him we said thank you, eh?"

I smile. "Don't worry, he knows that already."

"So like this is the Golden Ticket I've been waiting my whole life for?"

I shrug. "If you say so."

The doorbell rang and Mary immediately ran to answer it. She opened the door and jumped on the boy standing there. Poor boy. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Kylee walks up to Liam and Zayn and hugs them too.

"Guess Savannah already gave them too you?"

I laugh and nodded. Mrs. Williams walked up to us, welcoming the boys. I see the phone in her hands. "Mrs. Williams, show them the video."

"What video?" Kylee asked.

Mrs. Williams smiled and played the video, showing the five of us. Both Kylee and Mary's eyes were wide, and Liam and Zayn were laughing their heads off. "Mom!" Mary pouted. Mrs. Williams shrugged. "It was Savannah's idea."
"Actually it was Sam's." It actually was his idea, even though I was planning it anyways.

"He's going to get it Monday." Kylee shook her head, embarrassed. Liam and Zayn wouldn't stop laughing. "Hey, don't worry," Zayn assured them, "we've seen worse."

We stayed for a few more minutes, before we left.
"Hey, it's not a long goodbye. See y'all in two weeks." I hugged both of them.

"Don't even mention it. It's like a dream I'm living." Mary said as she closed the door behind her, fanning herself. I shake my head laughing and follow Liam and Zayn in the car.

Eleanor left to go to England, as she wasn't going to go to the few concerts before MSG. I held on DJ's hands as we passed through the crowd. Thankfully no one stopped them, as it was the end of Thanksgiving Break. We got to our gate right on time and walked in the plane. I sat down next to Harry, leaning against him, texting people.
"Who you texting?" Harry teased me.
"Kylee." I said plainly.

"Not Sam?" I turn around and see Harry's pouting face. I shoved him in the arm. "Shut up, Harry." He laughed and patted my back. "Don't worry, the teasing won't stop now."

I glared at him. "Evil person."

He shrugged his shoulders, defending himself. "Hey, it's not only me. It'll be them too."
"Gosh, you guys."

"You know you love us."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah."

People finish settling down in their seats, and the plane started going down the runway aisle. I sighed looking out of the window.

"You okay?"

I nodded. "Yeah, it's just going to be new for me, not living here anymore."

Harry wrapped his arm around me. "We'll visit anytime you want, kay?"

I smiled. "Kay."
