Can't Buy Me Love

2. It's Time For A Makeover

Brooke's POV

I wake up early the next morning, unable to contain my excitement. I quickly get ready, putting on a pair of skinny jeans and a peach colored shirt. When I get out of the bathroom, I have a missed call from Paul. I call him back.

"Hello," he answers.

"Paul? Did you call me?" I ask.

"Yes. I called to tell you that I'm on my way to pick you up. I'm actually rather close, so be ready," he says.

"Ok," I say and excitedly hang up the phone.

I grab my bag and wait outside for him. I told Mom the news last night and she seemed ok with it. She wasn't here when I woke up, so she must be at work. Paul soon pulls up in his car and I get in.

"Good morning, Brooke," he says politely. "How are you?"

"I'm fine. Just a little nervous that's all."

"Don't be nervous. Everything will go fine," he reassures me.

Paul pulls out of my driveway.

"Where are we going first?" I ask him.

"To a stylist to get your hair and makeup done."

I smile. The rest of the ride there was silence.

"Hello Lou," Paul says as we enter the salon.

Lou? You mean Lou Teasdale? One Direction's stylist?

"Hey Paul. This must be Brooke," she says, hugging me. "It's nice to meet you. You're such a beautiful girl."

I blush. "Thanks. It's nice to meet you too."

"How about we get started?" She asks me, smiling.

She leads me to one of the styling chairs and I sit down.

"Make her look camera ready," Paul demands.

"I'll do my best," Lou tells him.

Paul leaves the room after that. "He's so bossy," Lou whispers to me. I laugh.

Lou begins to style my hair. She straightens it and adds a bunch of hair product.

"That should be good for your hair. Now on to makeup!"

I gulp. I don't really like makeup that much.

"So, how often do you wear makeup?" Lou asks me.

"Never. I've never worn it," I confess.

She looks at me in surprise. "Well, there is always a first time for everything."

I smile and she begins to apply the makeup.

"Finished!" She says after a while.

She turns me around in my chair and I look at myself in the mirror. Paul comes in soon after.

"She looks amazing! Wonderful job, Lou!" He says.

"It's no problem, Paul."

I get out of the styling chair and stand up. I feel like a completely different person.

"Time to go shopping," Paul says, as he grabs my hand and leads me to his car.

He drives us to the mall. "I invited a fashion expert to go along with us. I hope you don't mind," Paul says when we arrive.

We walk to the entrance and the fashion expert turns out to be a man.

"Hello Paul. Is this the young lady we will be shopping for today?" He asks politely.

"Yes it is. I think I'll wait in the food court while you go shopping though. I'm not really into this kind of thing," Paul says.

"Of course! Come with me Brooke," the man takes my hand and leads me to the first shop.

"What's your name?" I ask him.

"Luke," he smiles.

"Nice to meet you Luke."

"Nice to meet you too. Let's pick out outfits first, then we'll get to the dresses."

I nod and Luke begins to pull out shirts, pants, and accessories of all kinds.

"Now, when shopping, alway keep in mind that you need to find things that bring out one of your features."

I take in all of the information Luke tells me as he piles clothes onto my arms.

"Let's try these on shall we?" He smiles.

We go to the dressing room and Luke hands me outfits to try on. It seems like we spend hours doing this. We finally decide on at least five of the outfits.

"These will be perfect for your dates with Harry," Luke says, as he pays for all of it. "In case the paparazzi show up, you always need to look your best."

Paparazzi? I forgot about them. I'm just a regular girl. What if I can't handle the paparazzi?

The next store we go to is a dress shop. It's filled with tons of pretty dresses of all different colors. When we enter, Luke looks me up an down.

"We need to find a dress that shows off your curves. After all, you have been blessed with them," he smiles. I can feel my cheeks flush.

Luke picks out five dresses then I go to try them on. The first one is a tight fitted black dress that is sleeveless. I show Luke.

"That one is perfect!" Luke claps. "You could wear that on a formal occasion with Harry. Like an awards show."

I try on the rest of the dresses and we decide to get them all.

"Now let's get some shoes!"

We run to a shoe store and I begin to feel overwhelmed.

"I don't know if I can handle this," I sigh.

Luke looks at me, worried. "Oh honey, everything will be alright," he hugs me.

"Are you sure?" I ask him.

"I'm positive. If anything gets you down, just look on the bright side."

I smile and we shop for shoes. Luke gets me a pair of heels for every dress I got, to match.

"I can't wear these. I'll fall," I complain as I walk in a pair of heels for the first time.

"You'll be fine. You'll get used to them after you wear them a couple of times."

We pay for the shoes.

"Ok, let's change you into one of your new outfits so you can meet the boys!"

My heart beats a little faster. I'm so excited to meet One Direction. Especially Harry, "my boyfriend."

I change into a blue shirt where the sleeves reach my elbows. I also wear a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a dark gray scarf.

Luke and I walk back to Paul carrying tons of shopping bags. His face lights up when he sees me.

"I see that you did some major shopping," he smiles. "So Brooke, tell us. How do you feel?"

"Like a completely different person," I say. "In a good way."

"Great! Thanks so much Luke! Are you ready to meet the lads?" Paul asks me.

I nod. We get back into Paul's car.

"We're going to my office. That's where they should be right now."

"What are we going to do with all of these clothes?" I ask him.

"Oh, about that Brooke..." Paul starts.

"What?" I ask him becoming worried.

Paul sighs. "We need to move you out of your flat and get you a new one."

"What? And leave my mother?" I yell.

"I'm sorry. It's apart of the job. I'll help you tell your mom and get you packed."

I cover my face with my hands. My mother will be devastated.

We pull into Paul's office and I've calmed down a little bit.

"Are you ready?" He asks.

I nod and he opens the door to his office. We go into one of the rooms inside and I see the boys sitting on the couch talking and laughing.
