Madly, Truly, Deeply

This is a Harry Styles fan fic!! It's about a regular girl who makes one bad decision in her life, and is reminded of it everyday. Don't worry, the reminder is quite a good one :)

2. Breaking the Rules

"So, you going to the party tonight?" my friend Sammy asked me the tenth time.

"Like I told you before, no. I'm not allowed out that late on school nights." I explained, shutting my locker.

The most popular girl in our High School was throwing a major party. When Sammy found out that we were both invited, she had to go. Too bad my parents are very strict about my curfew.

"But, Max! We never get invited to these things! And plus- don't you want to break the rules once in your life? Come on, live a little!"

I chuckled, "Sammy. I've broke the rules many times, remember?"

"Stealing a freaking cookie doesn't count!"

The rest of the day went exactly the same: Sammy whining, begging that I would go with her. Me asking her why she doesn't just go by herself, and her answering it the same way: "Because I could get raped! I need your ninja skills present with me! Just in case."

I opened the front door to my two story home. It was dead silent. "Mom?" I called down the hallway. No answer. She must be at work.

I walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of apple juice when I saw a note taped to the microwave.

It read, "Dear Maxxie, I couldn't find anywhere to tape this note, so I decided to tape it to the microwave. Hope you don't mind! Anywho, I am going to be in Las Angeles for three weeks. Sorry for not telling you earlier, but I haven't had much time lately. I stacked up on your favorite foods and drinks so that I know you wont go hungry! I love you lots, and I expect a call from you every day. I don't care when, but I expect one! Oh, and you still have your curfew. I will have Mrs. Johnson check every night that you are in the house by 10:00. Love you, Mom."

I rolled my eyes at her foolishness. She doesn't trust me? I think my heart just broke a little.

After chucking the note onto the dining room table and grabbing a bottle of AJ, I decided to call Sammy. She picked up on the first ring.

"Max! Did you re-think the option?!"

"Sammy, my mom's out for three weeks, so-"

"YES! Party all night!"

"No-Sammy! No party! Mrs. Johnson is going to be checking up on me to make sure I'm in the house by 10:00."

"Wha?! But- that's so stupid! Sneak out!"

"Sammy! No."

The conversation continued before I finally said, "fine." I had to hold the phone away from my ear for approximately 2 minutes before she finally calmed down.

"Okay. What are you going to wear?" she asked.

"Uh, what I'm wearing now?"

"What?! No! You have to wear something- no offense, but- pretty."

"Well, then I have absolutely no pretty clothing." I said, quite harshly.

She was beginning to get on my nerves. Personally, I just want to stay home and chill while listening to music. Not party all night while dodging stupid drunk people.

"Fine, uh... Wear one of your awesome plaid shirt- skinny jeans outfits!"

I was quite known for my plaid shirt- skinny jeans outfit, it's quite funny. "Okay," I answered. "Will do. When and where should we meet up?"

I shuffled into bed and opened my book. The time was exactly 10:00 PM; Mrs. Johnson should be checking up on me soon. In a matter of fact, I heard a knock on my bedroom door.

"It's open!" I called.

In she stepped; a quite small and petite woman in her late forties with graying hairs strewn all over her face. She had a kind smile on her face as she slowly advanced over to my bed. She was actually really nice; always gave me cookies when she babysat me a long time ago.

"Hello, darling. Just making sure you were still alive and in the house." she said, sitting on my bed.

"Well, I am! Just reading this awesome book..."

We talked for a total of five minutes before I urgently told her that I was getting quite tired and I needed my sleep. She smiled, patted my head, and strolled out of the house.

Jumping up, I ran over to my closet and got dressed into this: with my hair styled like this: I quickly ran out of the back door that wasn't facing Mrs. Johnson's house.

"Wow, you look really... HOT." Sammy joked.

"Haha, very funny."

She was wearing a dress that went down to her knees. It was purple and sparkly. Her blonde hair perfectly straight. It was like we were complete opposites.

The bass was incredible. I could feel the beat of the song, "Hall Of Fame" by the Script and Will.I.Am thumping through my body. People all around me were drinking from red solo cups as I hung out, by myself, in a corner.

Sammy left with a boy from our school. I think his name was Luke? Eh. Anyways, I'm really bored. Why not go for a stroll outside?

That's exactly what I decided to do. I put down my white paper cup, full with water, and walked out of the stuffy, crowded house. The air was comforting as it blew through my curls. I was walking, staring at my feet, when I spotted a trail in the grass.

I decided to follow it. Humming to myself and kicking a stone, I strolled endlessly down the trail into a wood. Even though it was dark outside, I felt no danger. That was until I heard voices.

They were quiet and deep; they had to be male voices. "What should we do, Boss?"

"What do you think we do, idiot? The same as every other low-life who deceived me, burn it." a much deeper voice told the other.

Burn it? Burn what?! I silently follow the trail more until I came upon the two males. They looked around my age, 17, maybe a year older. I could barely see them, the only light being the glow of the fire set to an object that was lying on the grassy ground.

What was it? I strained my eyes until I understood what- or who- it was. I staggered backwards, slamming my back into a tree behind me. They were burning another boy. They just killed a person!

My breathing increased, coming out in heavy puffs as my vision blurred, swirling in circles. I began to run away, not confident on where I was stepping, or which direction I was going. My head snapped backwards, my eyes widening as I saw the yellowish glow of the fire behind me.

My heart immediately stopped, as I ran into a hard object, wishing it was a tree...

Boy, was I wrong.
