That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

78. Wait-

*Liam's POV*

"Hey!" Louis' voice rang out from the other end, making my face break out into a large grin.

"Where are you guys? And why aren't you using your cell?" I asked, smiling at Harry as he looked at me in a confused manner. I mouthed 'Louis and Eleanor' to him, hoping he'd get the hint. He obviously didn't, as he shrugged and looked to Zayn for an answer. Zayn was just as clueless as Harry, so I just shook my head and continued on with my conversation with Louis.

"We just arrived at the airport! I'm using a bloody payphone, both Eleanor and my phones died because one of you packed our damn chargers!" He bellowed, pretending to be furious. I rolled my eyes, staring at my shoes.

"Wasn't me." I offered up, my finger lightly touching Amelia's wrist as I sat there, watching her sleep. That sounded beyond creepy, if she weren't in a hospital bed. But I suppose it's normal activity in the A&E.

Louis scoffed. "I know, it was probably my Harold, am I right?" I looked at Harry, who was still staring at me with a completely baffled look on his face.

"Harry is definitely to blame." I answered, nodding my head. Harry looked shocked.

"What? Me? Why, I'm an angel!" He smiled, fluttering his eyelashes and twirling his hands around his head to create some sort of happy effect. I snorted at Harry. He didn't even know who I was on the phone with, let alone what I was blaming him for.

"I'd better go, Eleanor is stomping on my foot!" Louis said, then took a break to tell her to cut it out. "El!" He laughed, then said goodbye and hung up.

"Who was it?" Harry inquired, staring at me quizzically.

"Louis and Eleanor. They've arrived at the airport. They'll be here in a few minutes."

We sat in silence a while, and eventually, Harry and Zayn left the room. Then my phone rang once more, as soon as Perrie stepped in with Zayn. They sat across from me, switching their worried glances from Amelia then to me.

"I can't explain right now, but Elle and I are on our way to the hospital, and Elle's hurt really bad. We're almost there, but I have to go. See you."

"Niall, wait-" But I was cut off by the click of the phone call ending. I gripped Amelia's hand in shock as his three sentences actually sunk in. I looked up to Zayn and Perrie, who seemed ready to come and hug me or something, judging by the looks on their faces.

"Liam? Who was that?" Perrie asked, glancing at my phone. I opened my mouth, not sure how to explain.

"Niall." I shook my head. "I don't know what happened, but Elle's hurt. They're on their way here."

Zayn shook his head as well, his face shocked and sad. "It's always us, isn't it? Something's always got to happen."

Perrie took his hand and led him out, I suppose to meet Niall and Elle to see what happened. So I sat there, Amelia's steady but quiet breathing the only thing to keep me company. I didn't mind the alone time with her. Everyone's been rushing us around all night and morning, from hospital room to waiting room, to the CT scan room, and back again. It's hard work to stay up this late, especially with the drastic time change.

I leaned back against the back of the chair that I'd pulled up next to her bed. Her hand was still limp in my own as I waited impatiently for someone to give me any news as to how both Niall and Elle were. Amelia would want to know...
