13. The Wrath Of Elle Whitman

I woke up at 6 o'clock sharp, making Elle groan as I stepped off the bed we were forced to share.

"We are getting a different bed for me, as soon as you get back from school!" Elle exclaimed, pulling the covers over her blonde curls.

"Work." I corrected, causing her to groan louder. I pulled a brush through my ratty brown hair, causing me to wince from all of the knots. I had always been jealous of Elle's hair. It was long, blonde, and whenever she woke up in the morning, it was sleek and smooth, not knotted and ugly like mine.

"Whatever. Now get your skinny white ass to school!" she complained, burrowing further into the bed.

"I'm going, I'm going!" She was a complainer and a whiner in the mornings. Scratch that, she was always like that.

"Are you seriously going in those clothes?" she said, now standing up and looking me up and down.

"Uh yeah, I can't go there the way you dress. I'd be kicked out in no time!" I retorted, popping my hip and cocking my eyebrow.

"Stop being such a smarta-" she started, me cutting her off.

"Do not finish that sentence!" I said, wagging my finger subtly.

"GOD, you're acting like him!" She screamed, holding her hair in her hands and smacking her face on my pillow.

"What? Like who?"

She waggled her perfectly sculpted eyebrows at me, saying "Oh, you know... you're BOYFRIEND!"

"Uh, how do you know that?" I squeaked.

"I wasn't passed out in the bathroom, y'know!" She said angrily.

I stammered, but she held up her finger signaling me to shut up.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME??" She yelled, flashing a grin.

"I have to, uh, go now. Bye!" I said, scurrying out the door.

"We will be discussing.." I didn't hear the rest as I shut the door and skipped down the stairs.

Bzzz Bzzz

I held up my phone and unlocked it.

From: Elle <3 To: Amelia

As I was saying, we will be discussing this when you come home! Love you!!

I groaned, dreading that horrid time.

The school day went by, same as usual, then football. Yvonne, the newly appointed team captain yelled at me to 'strain' and 'try harder'. I rolled my eyes, and ran harder. I then went to work.

"Amelia, can you brew up a double chocolate macchiato?" Matt yelled from across the shop. I nodded and grabbed a cup. I  got the chocolate and began the brewing process. I turned around to wait, when a girl spilled hot water on me. I yelped, flinching as the scalding water made my skin instantly turn red. Her eyes widened, and I felt sincerely bad for her. She was newer than I at the job. I forgot her name, it was one I'd never heard of.

"I am so, so, so, sorry!" she exclaimed, turning around and grabbing the nearest towel. I grumbled back, patting the towel softly against my bright red skin.

"Amelia, is that double chocolate... Oh. Have Alicia do it. And Talia?" Matt called out. That was the name, Talia.

"Yes?" she whimpered back.

"Could you get Ami some ice?" He said, patting my back sympathetically. She nodded, going into storage where the freezer was. Alicia finished up the coffee, handing it to the customer. I looked at the long line of customers curiously as Talia handed me a bag of ice. I grunted thankfully, pressing the ice onto my burnt skin.

"Ahh, feels so good!" I sighed, gaining a quick grin. I glanced at the clock, only 5 more minutes. Then I had to face the dragon. Uh, excuse me, Elle.

"Do you think you can handle a red bull spritzer?" Matt said, winking.

"Yeah, those aren't too complicated." I said, winking back. I grabbed a cup and got ready to prepare it.

"What flavor?" I asked the customer. She looked about 13, with bright red hair and green eyes. She popped her bright pink gum and replied casually, "Watermelon." I wrote with a sharpie on the cup, WM SP, which stands for Watermelon Spritzer, and began to make the drink.

I got the red bull and popped the tab and poured it in the cup of ice. Then I grabbed the watermelon flavored syrup, pouring in the perfect amount to make it a pretty pink color. I smiled and handed the cup to her, handing her a straw and a lid. She handed me the money, then squinted her eyes at me.
"Aren't you Liam Payne's girlfriend?" She asked. "Can I have a picture with you?"

"Uh, yeah, I suppose." I said, leaning over the counter so she could snap a quick picture with her white iPhone.

"Thanks. I follow you on Twitter. Follow me back? I'll tweet you the picture! Ok, thanks, bye!" She gushed, running out the store with a confused red headed lady trailing behind.

"What was that about, Ami?" Alicia said, putting her elbow on the counter, questioning me with her eyebrows raised.

"Long story." I told her, laughing.

"Tell me tomorrow, store closes in like, 5 seconds." She said, waving the lingering customers out. "We're closing! Come back tomorrow!"

I flipped the sign to closed, pulling my bag farther up on my shoulder. "Goodbye! See you tomorrow!"

I walked out into the lit street, walking to my apartment slowly. I smiled to myself, looking at the clouds overhead.

"Looks like a storm." Somebody said beside me. I gasped, stumbling and dropping the bag of ice.

"Sorry to startle you!" Liam said, catching my arm as I tripped. I grimaced, as he had gripped my burnt wrist. His eyebrows furrowed, looking worried as he let go.

"What happened?" He asked, reaching down and picking up the ice.

"Oh, just a clumsy girl. She accidentally spilt some hot water on me." I said casually, trying to brush it off.

"Isn't that stuff terribly hot?" He said, putting the ice carefully back on my hand. I grabbed it to keep it steady.

"Yeah, but it's okay, don't worry." I replied, walking along the road. He wrapped his arm around my back, putting his hand on the small of my back.

"I'll try not to." He replied, laughing.

We walked that way until we reached my apartment, as I groaned inwardly.

"What, do you not enjoy my company?" He joked, turning so he was facing me, nose to nose. More like my nose to his chest, however.

"Oh, it's not you, trust me! It's Elle. She is a little... grumpy. She overheard about us. And she is pissed off that I didn't tell her straight away." I said, receiving a sympathetic smile and a peck on the tip of my nose.

"Nothing I can do about her. She's a feisty one." He grinned. I laughed, leaning my head against his giant chest. He was beyond fit.

"I agree, nothing can tame the wild beast!" I snorted.

"It sure seemed like her and Niall got along well, now didn't they?" he asked.

I giggled, about to answer. Then it began to pour. And when I say pour, I really mean pour! I gasped as Liam's mouth popped open. We both grinned at each other, as I stuck my hands in the air, feeling the cool drops run down my bare skin.

"Oh my gosh! This is beautiful!" I screamed, dribbles of rain falling from my hair. Liam just laughed, picking me up and spinning me around. He set me down, and I looked in his eyes shyly. He lifted my chin, tucking my hair behind my ear. He leaned forward and our lips touched, buckets of rain still pouring down. I smiled in the kiss, reaching my hands around his neck and pulling him closer. He pulled apart and picked me up, bridal style.

"What are you doing?" I shrieked, my shoes dripping.

"I'm carrying you, obviously." He replied, rolling his eyes and stepping in the door. He reached into my bag for my keys to the second door. "We don't want you getting sick, dearie."

"I'm not going to get sick, I love the rain! It's even more beautiful here." I said dreamily, my arm wrapping around his neck to get a better grip.

"Better not risk it." He replied, smiling hugely. He reached inside of my bag and brought out the now melted ice pack. "Well this isn't useful anymore."

"Eh, it doesn't hurt too bad anymore." I said, showing him my wrist to further the point.

"Oi, there's a blister!" He exclaimed, setting me down on my feet and reaching for my hand.

"It's not the worst I've ever had. I've actually had really bad ones before. This one is nothing!" I said sarcastically. He unlocked the door and stepped inside.

"'Ello?" Elle called from her perch on the bed, typing away on her laptop "Oh, it's you. Never mind."

I rolled my eyes in response, kissing Liam on the cheek. "Bye, Liam."

"Bye, love." He murmured. "Bye Elle!" He said, waving at the grumpy blonde. She waved him off, saying a subtle 'Bye.'

I closed the door behind Liam and turned to Elle reluctantly. "Could you be polite to at least one of my boyfriends for once?"

"Hmm, how about no?" She shot back. I pushed her off the bed, snorting as she yelped and almost fell.

"Hey, it's Thursday. There's a party tomorrow!"

"Not here! I'm not allowing it!" I replied.

"Nah, it's at Harry's actually. He invited me. What a kiss up." She closed her laptop and set it on the table. "Oh wait, I mean Harold Edward Styles. Hah!"

I finally gave in after her multiple pleading, then yelling a grumpy "Go to bed!"

"Are you sure?"  It was muffled, but I was sure she had said it.

"I don't know." I replied quietly. I knew what she was talking about. She didn't want me hurt either. Not after Jake. She wanted me happy. I just wasn't so sure yet.
