That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

8. The Date

"You look beautiful." Liam said.

"As do you, Payne." I joked, looking at his nice shirt and black pants. He looked adorable, if I could say anything.

"Well, not exactly the reaction I was expecting." He shot back, a crooked smile curving up his face.

We were driven to a very nice restaurant, and I gasped at the beauty of it. We walked through the double glass doors, as a man held them open for us. I thanked him kindly, and walked through with Liam guiding me in.

"This is the nicest place I have ever been to." I said in amazement, looking around in pure awe. There were Christmas lights hanging to create a soft yellow light coming from above. There were only a few people, mostly elderly and ignoring us. There was a little band playing on the small stage in the corner, and the music was soothing. I relaxed a little as we sat down in the waiting area.

"I hope it tastes as good as it looks, I've never been before." He laughed.

"The food or the room?" I giggled, crossing my legs.

"Honestly, what do you think, Amelia?" Liam chuckled, messing his hair up a little with his hands.

"I call the chairs, you can have the curtains," I returned, flicking him.

"Deal, as long as I can have the plates."

We laughed quietly to ourselves, and when the waiter came she stared at me like I was insane.

"Table for two?" she asked, looking up from me to look at Liam. Her eyes grew wide and her eye twitched.

"Yes please." I stammered, standing up. I smoothed out my dress and took Liam's offering hand.

"You okay?" he whispered, his lips barely touching the skin near my ear. It tingled slightly, causing me to shiver slightly.

"Yeah, it's just the waiter gives me the creeps." I replied softly back.

"Don't be, the waiters are certified. They are promised and sworn to not call the paparazzi." He stated firmly. My stomach twisted. Crap, I forgot about the paps.

"Thank goodness."

We sat down at the table and the blonde waiter said, "Hello, I'm Katie and I'm going to be your server I start you off with something to drink?" She looked directly at Liam the entire time.

"I'll just have water for now." I decided, glancing at Liam.

"Same." He said.

"Okay, I'll be back ASAP with that." She said, throwing a pearly white smile at Liam. My stomach did another flip flop. She was way prettier than me. She walked away, her hips sashaying around.

"So what are you planning on having?" he asked, calling my attention to him again.

"Um, what about this. Pot-au-feu. Apparently it's some type of beef stew. Sounds better than the 'rooster in wine.'"

"Okay, and I'll get the potato things." he replied, flipping his menu around in his hands skillfully.

The waitress came back, practically speed walking to our table. "What can I get you today?" her eyes flicking back and forth between Liam and her little pad of paper.

Liam told her our orders, sneaking a few smiles at me. I grinned back, stifling a laugh when he winked at me.

"Okay, I'll get you these orders in a flash." she said, flashing a quick smile at Liam, then proceeding to grimace at me not-so-subtly.

"So, does it look like she wants to kill you or what?" Liam said softly.

"More like she wants to rape you." I laughed quietly.

He snorted, kicking me lightly from under the table. "Naughty thinking, Amelia!"

We looked at each other laughing quietly, making small remarks about Katie. We had to try hard not to interrupt the quiet environment.

After a while, the waitress came back, holding our food. "Pot-au-feu, and potatoes." She set down the dishes and promptly walked away.

"Let's feast!" Liam exclaimed, a bit louder than it should've been.

"Liam!" I hissed, smiling at his huge grin. People looked at us, shaking their heads.

I grabbed my spoon and took a huge bite of the stew. Eh, not bad. I took one look at Liam's face and I knew that his potatoes were disgusting.

"Is it terrible?" I asked, reaching for the plate. He nodded solemnly. I tried a bit of it, and my face twisted with disgust.

"Oh God, it's awful!" He said, wiping his mouth with his napkin. He took a large gulp of his water.

"Here, have some of mine. It's not too bad." I said, handing him my bowl.

He shook his head, frowning. "Let's just ditch this place with a one star review." I felt terrible, thinking of the money spent for a reservation.

"Oh, Liam.." I said, reaching for his arm. We stood up and walked away. The whole restaurant stared at us questionably.

"Do you think they are calling us hooligans or what?" I whispered to Liam.

"Hooligans? What kind of word use is that?" He chuckled as we approached the desk.

"Leaving so soon, Mr. Payne?" The person at the desk said, looking quite fidgety.

"Yes, if you'd like, I could pay, but we are leaving because the food was unpleasing to us." he said politely.

"Uh, no pay then, Mr. Payne and acquaintance." I could see a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead. I squinted my eyes in suspicion. Something was up.

"We are on our way then, Amelia." Liam said happily, hooking his elbow around mine courteously.

We stepped out the doors, and we were immediately attacked by a flashing mob.
