That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

56. Sunset, Darling.

"Liam. Let's go in the ocean." I whispered excitedly, pointing at the lowering sun. "I mean, it is sunset."

He agreed, and we ran down the sandy white beach. The cool ocean waves began to lap at my toes as I smiled at Liam. I remember just thinking about how much I had missed this, and now here I was, all thanks to Liam.

"Thank you. For everything." I smiled, clutching his hand. I then remembered the ring on my finger. "I should go put this somewhere safe before I lose it."

He laughed, nodding his head, then handed me his own. I ran to my purse, where the box was now stored, and placed them carefully back into the box. I grinned, then turned and ran back to Liam. I reached him, then pulled him into the waves.

"I dare you to go under." I said mischievously, pointing at the blue waves.

"Deal." He said proudly, falling into the waves, his arms flapping around madly. His head disappeared under, then reappeared quickly.

"Your turn." He said back, his grin stretching from one ear to the other.

"Easy-peasy." I replied, slipping under the waves. Momentarily, I was under the blue wake, and in another second I was up and grinning. "Ta-dah!"

Pretty soon, the sun was down, and we were soaked. We flopped our way back to the car, my purse in tow, along with his basket of leftover food. We hopped in the car, not caring that we were soaking up the car with salt water.

"Did everyone know about tonight already?" I asked curiously, squeezing my hair out softly so that it wouldn't drip all over the place. He nodded, smiling timidly. "They're going to be super peppy when we get back, aren't they?"

"Most definitely." Liam replied, chuckling as I groaned. We drove down the road, the curves winding. I turned up the radio, and immediately knew the song. I looked to Liam, waiting for him to glance to me. His eyes were wide as he turned to me, his smile huge.

"You're insecure! Don't know what for!" He sang, quite terribly I might add. Not like I sang much better.

"You're turning heads when you walk through the do-o-or!"

We sang the whole song on the way home, snickering at our horrid voices. Although it wasn't like I could sing in the first place. Liam, on the other hand, had the voice of an angel.

"And we're back!" Liam announced, shutting off the car. I twisted the ring around my finger nervously. I hopped out, trailing Liam into the unlocked door.

"They're back! And why are you wet?" Louis asked, looking us up and down. Liam and I looked at each other and just laughed.

"What about you? You're soaking wet!" I pointed out. Louis' hair was matted down, and his shirt and swim trunks were dripping.

He just shrugged, turning around before answering. "Sunset swim, darling."

Liam and I laughed hard, shaking our heads and heading to the living room, where everyone but Louis and Eleanor were seated. I sat down on an empty couch, Liam plopping down beside me. I looked to the T.V. to see what they were watching. I stared at the television until I realized that everyone was staring at me. I looked blankly around at their expectant faces, their eyes wide.

"What?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. Harry rolled his eyes and pranced over so he was seated right next to me.

"Anything.. nice happen tonight?" He said, wiggling his eyebrows. I shook my head, then shrugged.

Eleanor cleared her throat delicately before beginning her sentence." Um, dear, we already-"

"Fuck this. Amelia, we know that Liam gave you that hunk of gold on your finger." Elle interrupted, her eyebrows raised and her finger pointed at my left hand. I looked down at the ring. Oh, goodness gracious.

"Oh. Yeah."

Liam laughed, shaking his head. "You forgot already, babe?"

"Guess so. Whoops!" I said, laughing. I excused myself to take a shower, leaving everyone behind. I placed the ring delicately into the box, setting it on the bathroom counter. I was not taking any chances, being a well-known klutz. After undressing, I stepped into the steaming shower, letting the water relax my tense muscles. I washed through my hair, stroking shampoo through it, then conditioner. I untangled the strands, then rinsed through. Then, as per-usual, I got lost in my thoughts.

I stood there, letting the hot water wash over me, thinking. Thinking about Liam. Then, I thought about Jake. My stomach twisted. Jake.

I wasn't rushing with Liam, was I?
