3. My Day With Liam Payne

I woke up the next day early, and immediately ransacked my wardrobe. Did I have that bad of a fashion sense? I settled on a sweater, scarf, and skinny jeans and pulled on some boots. My buzzer went off lightly, signaling that someone was calling for me. I felt a rush of excitement as I grabbed my purse and ran down the stairs. I pulled open the door to Liam's smiling face.

"Hey!" His chocolate brown eyes crinkled slightly at the sides, causing me to melt inside. I could lose myself in eyes like that. The only problem is that Jake's eyes were brown. Not as beautiful as this boy's eyes.

"Hi." I said shyly, smiling slightly. "So where are we going?"

His smile was lopsided as he answered, "I was thinking the park."

"A picnic?" I replied excitedly.

"That was the idea!"

"Well? What are we waiting for?" I replied, playfully hitting him on the arm. We rode in a simple little car, probably rented to keep a low key identity. So far, no paparazzi so we must have done pretty well.

"How do you like ham and cheese sammies?" he said coolly.

"Yummy!" I said giggling. Where did all this giggling come from??

He chuckled, saying "Your laugh is so cute!"

"Are you saying it sounds bad?" I replied, faking that I was extremely hurt by his words.

"Oh of course not! Your laugh is adorable!" He said seriously.

"Well, thanks." I said awkwardly, since I'm awkward and have an awkward personality.

We finally arrived to the park, my awkwardness making me feel hot, and not in the good way. He reached behind him to the backseat and pulled out a picnic basket, as in the actual brown, weaved kind.

"Oh my gosh, Liam! That is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life!" I exclaimed, grinning. "Is there a red and white checkered blanket in there too?"

Liam smiled sheepishly. "Not quite. It's actually just blue..."

"That works perfectly! Shall we?" I said, gesturing to the bright, cold October day.

"Oh, uh, yeah! One second!" He said, opening his car door. I watched him run around to my side of the car and open my door. He stuck out his hand so I could take it. I reached out gratefully, his huge hand enveloping my small hand.

"Thanks." I smiled, stepping out of the door. What a gentleman!

"Where shall we sit? In the shade or the sun?" he asked.

"Definitely the sun!" I said, feeling the cold wind blow on my bare hands.

He nodded, than grinned, saying "Wanna race?"

I laughed, and said "Okay, but I'm warning you, I have a mile time of..." Before I could finish my sentence, he had already taken off.

"Hey! Cheater!" I laughed, sprinting after him.

"Ha! Beat you!" Liam said, smiling smugly after we made it to the perfect place.

"Yeah, because you cheated!" I replied.

"So you admit I did win?" He shot back, causing me to laugh harder then ever.

We took out the quilt he had brought and laid it down in the middle of the sunny, yet still chilly, field an began to take out the food.

"Mmm, muffins!" I exclaimed, taking out the chocolate muffins in a Tupperware container.

"Hopefully you love chocolate! Because I love chocolate!" He chirped happily, taking the sandwiches out of a different container.

"Oh I do, trust me!" I sang back, grabbing the sandwich he was offering me. He took a gigantic bite of his sandwich. I followed his lead, and found it delicious.

"Did you make these? Because this is amazing!"

He shook his head and replied "Nope! Bought 'em at the store! But that's practically the same thing."

"Yeah, same thing!" I snickered, throwing a bit of sandwich at him. He looked back at me with doe eyes, his mouth agape.

"You. Did. Not. Just. Do. That." He said.

"Whatcha gonna do about it?" I teased him.

"Well, you started it..." He said, picking up another sandwich carefully. He gently ripped it slowly into a few bits, then pelted me with them!

"Oh my gosh! You are soo paying for this Payne!" I gasped.

"Oh really?" He replied, mocking me.

Then we had an ultimate food fight, saving, of course, the muffins.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Liam froze, arm in midair.

"Fan."

I smiled worriedly, and whispered, "Should I, like, hide?"

"Nah, don't worry."

"LIAM. PAYNE. Can I PUHLEEEZZ have your autograph????" She was a very little girl, maybe 10 or 11, with frizzy hair and bright blue glasses.

"Sure, what's your name?"

"RILEY!" She screamed, probably not realizing how loud she was.

"Here you go, love." he smiled, handing the small paper that she had given him back.

"Thank you SOSOSOSOSOSO much! This is the best day of my ENTIRE LIFE." She screeched, running back to where she had come from.

"We better go before the paparazzi spot us..." Liam said quietly. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay! Totally fine!" So we packed up and ran to the car. We got in and drove back to my apartment building.

"Bye Liam." I said awkwardly. Again.

"Uh, bye. Call me later?"

"Okay. Thanks for a really, really nice day! I had a blast." I replied, opening the car door.

"Of course! Good bye!"

I ran back up to my room and unlocked the door. I collapsed on my bed, surprising a sleeping Bear. That was the best date I had ever been on. Yet, still, Jake was still coursing through my mind, making me rethink this. He seemed so far away now, almost in another life. He was the past. Now there was Liam. But questions caused me to pause and almost start crying on the spot. Was I ready? What if it turned out exactly the same?

I couldn't handle another broken heart.
