That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

81. Luncheon.

*Liam's POV*

We parked on the curb next to some restaurant that I didn't bother to look at the name of. I stepped inside quickly, nervously glancing at the time on my watch. It was already a quarter past one, so the doctors should be checking on Amelia's IV and vitals right about now. If I were to get an emergency call, this would definitely be the time.

"Follow me, please." A small, wrinkled old lady smiled kindly at us from behind her little pedestal and lead us to a small booth in the restaurant. She handed us some menus, to which I found out that it was a Chinese restaurant.

"I'll take some water, please." I asked the lady, smiling softly. I glanced at my cellphone for the fifth time since we arrived at the restaurant, frowning at the blank screen. What if something happened, and they couldn't get a hold of me?

"Liam, I bet she's fine. They would've called. Okay?" Elle reassured me, smiling kindly as I nodded. I knew she was right. I don't know why I just couldn't accept the answer in my own mind.

"Water for me, too." Eleanor said, opening her menu. Both Louis and Elle got the same thing. We watched as the lady picked up a pitcher of water, with a huge amount of effort in her elderly arms, and pour it into our glasses.

We took dainty sips, chit-chatting with one another until she came back to take our orders. I ordered some sweet and sour chicken, and didn't pay attention to what the others ordered. My eyes flickered back to my phone, which still hadn't vibrated to show any sign of a change. I sighed, sticking it back in my pocket, hopefully until the end of the meal.

"Sorry I'm being so rude. I'll try to restrict myself from my phone." I apologized, my hands now resting atop the table.

Louis shook his head. "It's alright, lad. I'd be worried sick if I were in the position with Eleanor." He smiled at Eleanor, who blushed subtly. He patted her leg, which is when I looked away. I didn't want to think about the fact that I wished Amelia was here so I could show her my affection, no matter how cheesy it sounded.

The food arrived surprisingly quickly, to my relief. It was alright food, although I admit Chinese isn't my favorite type of food. We talked quietly to ourselves, even though we were practically the only ones in the restaurant at this hour. My phone vibrated, to which I freaked out and pulled it out quickly. Turned out it was actually Modest! Management, telling us that we had rehearsals soon, which meant our vacation was running out of time.

I'd have to go on tour again, and even Amelia didn't know yet, and I wasn't sure if she actually would. I didn't want to go on tour while she was still a Sleeping Beauty, which is what I resulted to calling the minor coma she was in, and I definitely didn't want her to wake up and have me halfway across the world. It'd break her heart, and mine.
