That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

15. In Town Today

I found Liam sometime after we arrived, losing Elle in the sea of people with a drink in her hand. I, on the other hand, did not have any intention of drinking, and it looked like Liam didn't either.

By the end of the party, I was exhausted, and Elle was drunk beyond comprehension. I knew I needed to bring her home when she somehow managed to get Harry and Niall to carry her around.

"Harry, put her down! We need to leave!" I scolded, frowning when Harry stuck his tongue out.

"No." He replied, Niall now frowning. He was realizing how drunk she was when she barely even talked back.

He set her down reluctantly, Elle stumbling around in her heels. She blinked largely, then leaned over and took off her shoes and yelled.

"THE PARTY IS JUST STARTING!" I widened my eyes at Liam, groaning.

"Yeah, I don't think Elle should have anything more to drink." Liam snorted, reaching for Louis and Zayn. They all three took a grab of Elle, with Niall trailing behind. Elle stumbled behind, tripping over the door frame.

We finally made it home, me apologizing for dragging Liam and Zayn all the way back to my apartment to help Elle get herself into the room safely.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't think she would get that wasted. I shouldn't have let her out of my sight." I sighed, feeling a major headache coming on.

"Don't worry. I'm mostly just sorry for the blocking of you at work." Liam frowned, crossing his arms. Zayn questioned him slightly, Liam telling him quickly about my little work experience.

"Hey, stop. It's okay. I'm fine, nothing happened. I just hid in a closet." I said, trying to relieve both of their worried looks.

Zayn just shrugged and replied "I'm sure it'll happen again, Liam. She has to get used to it at some point." I nodded, glancing thankfully at Zayn.

"Oh, alright. Now you should get to bed. It's late." Liam said, kissing my forehead. "Goodnight." I said tiredly.

"Goodnight, Zayn." I hugged him as he wrapped his arm around me slightly. "Thank you, guys again. I couldn't have made it without you two."

I watched them disappear in the night in their fancy car, as I turned around to walk back into the building, to sleep.

I woke up, feeling refreshed and wide awake. I couldn't exactly say the same for Elle, however.

"Oh my God, I think I'm going to need an ambulance right now." she said in a gravelly voice, her hair up in a messy ponytail. I just shrugged back.

"I'll get you some Aspirin or some Ibuprofen at the store." I picked up my wallet and headed out.

I had a few things on my list of To Do's. First was to go to the Licensing Department, which took just a matter of minutes since I just had to show them my license from Minnesota. I hated that Minnesota license picture with a passion. My heart pinched painfully as the memories of that day came back clearly. I had just been at Jake's house. It was the first time he had ever threatened me, and I was scared to death, but I hadn't told anyone. I was a wreck, and my only goal for this picture was to not look so cavewoman-like.

It turned out okay, but not one of my best, I admit. I got a call right afterwards, from Elle.

"I think I'm dying, Ami! Please come back!" She groaned into the phone. I could imagine her zombie-like appearance next to the toilet. I just now fully understood the phrase 'hung-over'.

I snickered back, walking into the store that was only a block from the apartment complex.

"I told you this would happen. I swear I did."

I grabbed some Advil and walked to the dairy department, still talking casually to Elle. I grabbed some milk and yogurt, then asked Elle if she wanted some soda pop. I then heard something behind me snap, like a camera phone. I turned to a bright flash of an iPhone.

"Hello!" The person called. I waved back, confused. I then turned around and proceeded my way to the checkout. I set my items down, only to hear the same flashing again.

"Excuse me, no cameras in the store!" The cashier said, receiving a grateful glance from me.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, dearie, but are you Amelia? You know, Liam Payne's girlfriend?" The cashier asked, sliding my items into a plastic bag neatly.

"Yes I am." I replied nicely. She grinned as she handed me the bag.

"My daughter loves Liam, and absolutely adores you. Do you mind if I ask for an autograph please?" She pleaded, reaching for a pen and a piece of paper. I nodded and signed it quickly.

"Well, congrats to your daughter, that was my first autograph ever." I grinned, handing it to her.

"Thank you very much sweetheart. Have a nice day!" I waved back and left the building. That wasn't so bad, I thought to myself. Liam had made it seem so.. dreadful.

I made it to the apartment, and handed Elle the Advil. She accepted it happily and downed some ginger ale and the pill.

"Ahhhhh." She exhaled, laying down on the small couch.

"Guess what I did today?" I said excitedly, talking about my new license.

"What." She didn't sound very excited. I rolled my eyes, ignoring her 'enthusiasm'.

"I got a license! Now I just need a car.." I said, determined to get one soon.

"You haven't got that much money, do you?" She asked, her fingers massaging her temples.

"Well, no, but I've been saving up from my job.." I really didn't get much, plus I had to pay rent.

"Ugh. Jobs. Gross." She replied plainly.

"Speaking of which, you better get going on the modeling job, or else you're going back home!"

She groaned even harder, turning so her face was stuffed in the back of the couch. My phone buzzed, and I picked it up.

From: Liam To: Amelia

Do you want to go get some frozen yogurt or something today? xx

I smiled and typed back;

To: Liam From: Amelia

Alright, sounds good! Meet you in an hour or so?

From: Liam To: Amelia

I'll see you at your place then! Love you xx

"Hey Elle, I'm going with Liam to a frozen yogurt place in an hour. Think you'll be okay?"

She snored in response, obviously fast asleep. I decided to go, she couldn't get in too much trouble. I left a note and began my descent down the steps.
