That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

82. For All Of Us.

*Liam's POV*

By the time we made it back to the hospital, it was already past two. I was already panicking over little things that probably didn't matter.

"What if they didn't call because she's in some type of emergency surgery?" I worried, biting my lip a little too hard, even drawing a bit of blood.

Elle sighed. "Liam-"

"Or, what if something happened and they wanted to say it in person?" I said, shaking my head furiously. I was so worried, because if I lost her, I wouldn't be able to keep that bloody promise.

"Oh my God, Liam-" Elle tried again, but I didn't pay attention to her attempts to comfort my erratic behavior.

"Wh-what if she had to be transported to a different hospital because something super serious-"

"Shut up, already! My God.." Elle shouted, her face red. "You've been rattling on about complete nonsense the entire trip back to the hospital, which is still less than an hour! You know that nothing happened, and you're going to find Amelia lying in that fucking bed like she has been the past week! Don't you get it?"

It was quiet as we all looked at Elle, her blue eyes burning in fury.

"Elle..." Eleanor tried to reason with her, but Elle just raised her hand up and turned away.

"I don't want to cuss you out, Eleanor." She said stiffly. Eleanor, nodded, seemingly relieved.

"Well you can cuss me out all you want." Louis snickered, trying to lighten the dreary mood a bit, but nobody made a move. Finally the hospital sign came into view, and as soon as the car was parked I jumped out and walked into the glass doorway.

"Welcome back, Mr. Payne." The receptionist said kindly, looking through her glasses at me in an annoyed manner. I nodded, smiling a little. At least she didn't say that the doctor needed to see me immediately or something.

I walked down the familiar hall, my shoes squeaking on the unnaturally clean linoleum tiles. I pulled open her door, staring at the familiar number on the sign, then at her name printed neatly in the plastic encasement.

I looked at Amelia, exactly the same as I'd left her. So Elle was right, and I really should've kept quiet during the whole car ride.

"Amelia..." I whispered, my eyes filling with numb tears. I sat down in the same chair, pulling it even closer to touch her rosy cheek.

"I'm sorry I broke the promise. I didn't mean to, and I hope you realize that."

Then, I felt silly because she probably couldn't even hear me. I sniffed, grabbing her hand again, shaking my head.

"I can't believe I'm just talking right now, you probably can't even hear me. I'm being silly." I laughed harshly, tears blinding me.

Then, something unbelievable happened. Her hand moved. I sat there, shocked, not even believing my own senses. I decided to try and talk again, seeing as my voice might've been the trigger.

"Amelia, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand again." I said, hope raising my heart like a helium filled balloon.

Her hand moved once again, and I knew that my senses were not deceiving me. I smiled, looking around the room, as if to spread the news to someone, anyone. But no one was there. It was just Amelia and I, alone in the room. I sighed; I wanted to go tell someone, but I desperately didn't want to leave her there. What if she woke up?

I decided to pull out my phone and call Elle. I put it on speaker phone so I could still easily talk and hold Amelia's hand in my own.

"What." Her voice was annoyed as she answered the phone. Amelia's hand twitched once more.

"Elle! Come in Amelia's room, her hand!" I couldn't even explain what was going on, even though I had so wanted to tell her.

"Just, come here." I sighed, smiling at Amelia's face. I knew that beneath those lovely features and her closed eyes, she was determined to wake up, to see me.

"Fine. Be there in a sec."

"Elle's coming, Amelia. C'mon, try to wake up, for all of us."
