That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

10. Feeling Low

I was a mess the next day, and I called in sick at work and school. I stayed in bed until 10 o'clock, after multiple phone calls from my mother. I assured her I just had a cold, and she gave up. Then my phone rang again, but I ignored it. After about the sixth time, I groaned and reached for it.

"Hello?" I said groggily.

"By God, Amelia! I've been trying to reach you all day! What's wrong?" a rough voice said, cracking slightly when saying my name.

"I'm sorry, Liam, I'm sick today." I lied, my heart twisting.

"Yeah, whatever. I can tell when you're lying. I'm coming over right now." he said, hanging up abruptly. I frowned, putting my phone down and staring at it blankly. Another ten minutes passed and the buzzer went off. I groaned and let the door open, letting Liam in. He sat down at my desk while I sat cross legged on my bed in my Hollister sweats and blue Hawaii sweatshirt. I had gone to Hawaii when I was 13 and it was the best experience of my life.

"Amelia, I know they found your Twitter." he said quietly. I looked up at him slowly, wondering which one he'd read. I'd been ignoring it, so who knows what nasty thing they came up with now. I lost it when they said that I was with Liam for fame and money. Oh, and that I had punched Harry in the face. I mean, I barely knew the guy!

"Trust me, it's noting. I just have a bit of a cold." I said finally, playing with the tassels on my homemade blanket that my grandma had made for me. It was one of my favorites.

"Just ignore them. They don't know how to handle stuff like this. They'll love you eventually, trust me." he replied.

"Don't stress about me, please. I'm fine."

Liam stood up, grabbing my wrist. "We're going out. You can't be secluded all day!"

"Not looking like this, boy!" I laughed. "Plus, my school would see me and I called in sick!"

"Uh, love? It's almost 3 in the evening..." He said, smiling lightly.

"Oh. Well at least let me take a shower!"

I got ready while Liam played around on my laptop, fascinated by my hundreds of photos. Most of them were me and my friends messing around. Then there were a few pictures of me and Jacob.

"Who's this guy? It looks like one of those people who say 'dope ass swag' all the time and brag about smoking marijuana." He snorted, showing me a picture of Jacob and I posing next to a statue of some famous person, but I don't recall where it was. I felt my heart drop as I replied "My ex. Jake."

Liam looked at me and seemed to understand that it was a sensitive topic. I knew I wasn't quite over it yet. I'm still not sure if I can trust again, since he cheated on me multiple times, every time saying he'd never do it again. And that I was his one and only. I always came back for him. I believed him.

"What did he do?" Liam was all of the sudden behind me, breath tickling my ear.

"Doesn't matter now." I said, looking in his eyes through the mirror.  I turned around and hooked my arms around his neck. "I'm here now. Not with him."

He smiled, satisfied with my answer. He pecked my lips quickly and grabbed my hand. He led me out the door, leaving poor Bear barking behind us frantically.

"Maybe we should take her..." Liam suggested, picking her up lovingly. I nodded and got her leash, coming back to Liam cuddling with her.

"I'm thinking you like dogs?" I questioned, smiling. He nodded, setting her down and attaching the blue leash to her plain black collar. We walked to the nearby park, one that was secluded that we had our first date in.

"Amelia." Liam said suddenly, grinning.

"What?" I asked tilting my head slightly to take a peek at his face. He was looking behind me, in which I turned around. I gasped, my eyes almost popping out of my head.
