That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

94. Explanation.

*Amelia's POV*

"Liam, where's Elle?" I asked innocently, picking at my fingernail polish already. I had absolutely nothing against the colors or having it on, I just had a bad habit of chipping it off piece by piece. It made my nails look absolutely terrible.

Liam looked up, smiling at me open-mouthed. "Not sure, sweetie. I'll call Niall, he ought to know."

I nodded, continuing to pick at my nail polish. There goes a piece of blue, off onto the hospital sheets. I was still put to bedrest, just in case. In case of what, I had no idea. The doctors just said 'in case something were to happen.' Oh, that just perfectly explains it!

"Hey, Niall!" Liam chirped happily, grinning lopsidedly at me. I grinned back, then stuck my tongue out at him. It reminded me of a few months ago, when I had tried so hard to make him laugh, and I definitely succeeded.

"Whoa, slow down there, mate! What's going on?" Liam's face grew serious quickly, his forehead creasing with worry lines. I sat up straighter, any interest in my nails gone. I bit my lip as I waited for Liam to explain to me what was going on.

"Oh. Oh! I'm sorry! Come back to Amelia's room, we can," He paused, obviously listening to Niall's answer. "No, she's not here."

I cocked my head, confused. Were they fighting? I thought that everything was perfectly fine between them. They seemed so happy last time I remembered. But that was also about a week and a half ago. So things might've changed quickly.

"See you then. Don't do anything stupid." Liam hung up, shaking his head with a bewildered look on his face.

"Well?" I said, leaning forward in pure attentiveness. He took a deep breath, his eyes widening as he shrugged.

"I'm not entirely sure, but I guess Elle was reading to some kids in the hospital, and Niall was there, and she ran away, supposedly. Niall ran after her, and I guess something happened, he didn't say. He's beyond pissed, and he broke up with her. He told her, and I quote, 'I never want to speak to you again, and I never want to see you again. We're through.' Or something along the lines of that."

I gasped, completely taken by surprise. "Oh my goodness! Does he know where Elle is?" I was suddenly overtaken by complete worry and fear. In the state she was in, who knows what she might do. I needed to find her, and quickly.

"Liam, I need to find Elle. Now." I demanded, lifting the sheets up and placing my feet on the ground. I knew I was going to be unsteady, due to the fact that I hadn't walked in over a week. But I was not prepared when I stood for the sudden rush of blood to my head, as I almost fell back onto the bed. Liam, however, caught me before I hurt myself.

"I don't think you're in a good enough state, honey..." He said, shaking his head as he tried to put me back onto the bed. I struggled against him, trying to break out of his grasp.

"Elle might hurt herself! I need to find her!" Then, I brilliant idea came to me. "Liam, dearie, could you please get that wheelchair?"

There just so happened to be a wheelchair in the corner of the room that the hospital used to push me to the therapist's office. He wheeled it over, uncertainty filling his eyes. "I don't know, sweetheart."

"I have to! C'mon, do it for me! Because you love me!" I said, playing on his feelings. He sighed, shaking his head, as he helped me into the wheelchair.

"Because I love you." He laughed, pushing me out of the room. "I love a completely insane girl, I can tell you that."

"A completely insane girl who's insanely in love with you." I blurted out, feeling my cheeks stain red quickly. When did I become a hopeless romantic with cute little phrases just jumping out of my mouth? Liam seemed to like it, however, because he chuckled, touching my cheek as he pushed me through the halls.

"If I were an upset Elle, where would I go?" I muttered, tapping my chin thoughtfully. I couldn't think of anywhere in a hospital that Elle would actually like to be, other than the cafeteria, where we checked to find no Elle in sight.

"Maybe she's in the bathroom? Maybe she's fixing her makeup." Liam said, the little genius he was. I grinned, nodding my head.

"Yes! Off to the bathroom we go! Your genius!" I laughed.

"Elementary, my dear Watson," Liam chuckled, then added, "Or should I say, my dear Ames?"

We pulled up to the woman's restroom, where I had to push myself in. Liam was most definitely not going into the restroom, even under the circumstances. He helped me push open the door, however, as I tried my best to wheel my way into the large bathroom. I looked into the stalls, finding that only one was closed.

"Elle?" I asked softly, licking my lips. There was a sniffle to answer me. "Come on out, Elle. It's okay."

"No! I'm staying in here!" She cried, sobbing yet again. I heard a splash, like she threw something into the toilet.

"Elle? What was that?" I asked, my eyebrows creasing.

She paused, to which I heard no noise. "N-nothing."

My heart started to pound as I began to familiarize with the sound. "Elle, please don't tell me..."

"It's none of your business, Amelia! Get out of here! I don't need you! Just go away!" She yelled, banging on the stall door. Tears pricked in my eyes, but I wiped them away.

"Fine. But you are letting down so many people, Elle. Don't be so selfish." I wheeled away, pulling the door open to my best ability, until Liam came to help.

"Is she in there?" He asked, looking into the bathroom door. I pushed it closed behind me, sniffling.

"Yeah. I want to go back to my room now." I said quietly, crossing my arms over my chest. He seemed to understand, and began to push me back to my room, where we sat in utter silence, him waiting for an explanation that would never come.
