That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

40. Euphoria.

I walked briskly down the street, my hands stuffed in my pockets. I had to get home and pack, which excited me, at the same time as frightening me beyond belief. I shook the feeling of fear as I climbed the stairs into the apartment building. I threw open the door, opening it to Elle, in the same spot as I had left her. She still looked tired, her eyes sunken in, and dark.

"Did you eat today, Elle?" I asked, hoping the answer was yes. She didn't reply, only shrugging her shoulders. Her pointy, thin, shoulders. I could already see the effects of malnutrition on her, and I was not happy.

"Elle. You need to eat. I am not going to stop bothering you about it until you do."

I stuffed a granola bar into her hands, sitting cross legged beside her. She rolled her eyes, unwrapping the chocolate chip bar and taking a huge bite, swallowing it immediately, like she didn't even try to taste it.

"There you go. Can you leave me alone now?" She said, exasperated. I bit my lip, shifting uncomfortably on the couch.

"Well, uh... Elle? I'm going to be.. um... gone for a few days." I mumbled, looking down at my hands and moving them around. It was a nervous habit, which was not helping anyone right now.

She cocked her head, her eyes squinting. "Where are you going?"

I shrugged, not knowing the answer myself. "That part isn't figured out yet."

"How could it not? Just a spontaneous trip? I'm guessing it's with Li-Li, right?" She sounded upset, but I wasn't sure of it yet.

"Yeah. We thought it would be best to go alone. Hope that's alright with you, Elle." I said slowly, unwrapping my hands and standing silently. She hesitated, her mouth open slightly. She closed her mouth, then looked up at me and nodded.

"Yeah, okay. Sure. Have fun, Ami."

I burst out in a grin, letting out my held in breath. I took her into a warm embrace, then let her go. She felt frail already. Maybe it was just a cold, and I was just overreacting.

I walked into my room, searching for my suitcase. I spotted it, and rolled it onto my bed. I had to pack, but I didn't know what. Should I pack warm clothes, or should I pack wintery clothes? Flip flops or boots? Mittens and scarves or sun hats and sunglasses? I decided to ask Liam, so I pulled out my phone and called him up.

"Hey. How did Elle react?" He asked straight away.

"Great!! We're still on, right?" I exclaimed, smiling.

"Of course!" His voice was light and airy, and I smiled, looking forward to when he was all mine, and we were alone. On our very own vacation. I shuddered at the excitement.

"Do you know if we're going to a warm place or a cold place? I'm packing right now." I said, pacing back and forth.

"Warm. I was thinking, since you liked Hawaii.. Did you want to go again?"

I stopped, my mouth agape. "Of course! That would be... spectacular!"

"I'm going to pick you up tonight, at 4:00. Our flight should be around 7, so it gives us enough time to pack and eat dinner. How does that sound?"

I smiled, mustering up enough courage to tell him what I thought. "I think that you are the most wonderful person, inside and out, that I have ever met."

And I hung up that phone, euphoria streaming through my blood. I felt like I was in a dream.
