75. Escape Route.

*Elle's POV*

"Oh no, oh no! What do we do, Elle!" Liam was having a panic attack as he frantically searched the room for an escape. I did the same thing, except quieter and calmer, since I wasn't a pussy.

"Stop being a freak and calm yourself! We're going to find a way! And if that doesn't work, just pretend like I went crazy and you followed me here, trying to stop me from coming here. Understood?" I ordered, to which Liam nodded worriedly. Then I spotted a perfect exit route.

The window.

"Pick me up." I demanded. Liam widened his eyes.

"What? Why?"

I sighed, annoyed. "Just do it. Trust me." He did as I told, and picked me up, quite easily to my surprise. I reached up and unlatched the window, the cold air hitting my face like a burst of water. I overcame my shock and climbed out quickly, then turned around to help Liam, but he was already halfway out of the window. I shut it hard, making sure to make as little noise as possible. I scrambled back from the window, accidentally running right into Liam, who fell over onto the ground. I watched the door to Amelia's room open, and the doctor from earlier walked in, along with Dr. Hatfield.

My eyes shot to Liam's, who's eyes were locked on the window with pure shock. I helped him up, and we both sprinted to the front door. We made it inside, our cheeks flushed and our breaths wild. I burst out laughing, and Liam's own laugh chimed in with my own. We walked into the waiting room, still snickering to ourselves.

"You guys made it!" Zayn said happily, grinning. The receptionist looked confused, but went on to reading her gossip magazine.

"Thanks to me!" Harry exclaimed, grinning a cheeky smile. I walked over and kissed him on the cheek, to his dismay. "No lips?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, right. I still need to go find my own boyfriend." I sighed, my stomach wrenching. Hopefully he was alright...

"We haven't gotten a hold of him yet... we were hoping you did." Perrie said, her eyes sad. I nodded, appreciating that they were telling me this.

"Ah, so it looks like the whole group is here now." The doctor walked in through the doors that I had just broken into just minutes ago. I checked the time, realizing it was already 1 in the morning. No wonder I felt like my eyes were falling off my face.

"Actually not yet!" Dr. Hatfield walked through the doors after the other doctor, smiling. "There's two more, correct? That's what Harry told me just a few minutes ago." So that's how they'd stalled him. Just enough time.

"So, we have found out that her head is actually fully recovered from her earlier injuries."

"Thank God!" Liam shouted, smiling widely. I smiled, grabbing his arm and looking him in the eye. He looked genuinely happy, and that made me happy, knowing that Amelia had finally snagged a good one.

"Why isn't she awake?" I asked, being the buzz kill I was. He looked at me, frowning.

"We aren't positive yet. We'll know soon enough. It could still be the medicine for all we know."

Both he and I knew that that wasn't the case. Something else was going on back there, and they were not willing to share that information, now were they? That made me kind of upset, but maybe they really just didn't understand the situation yet. I'd do anything to know what was going through those doctors minds.

"Is it a-" Zayn took a deep breath. "coma?"

The doctor froze. He glanced to Dr. Hatfield, who only shrugged sadly.

"We honestly can't tell you." He sighed, continuing on to explain himself better. The way he said it was like he didn't want to tell us at all. That certainly wasn't it, right? "We can't say that it is, but I can't promise you that it's not a coma."

Liam muffled back a few sobs as the doctor patted his back, the trailed back into the A&E corridor. I sat there, shell-shocked.

Amelia's not in a coma, is she?
