28. Double Date.

"Hey, babe, I was wondering if you wanted to hang with Niall and I. The rest of the boys are busy today, but we're free!"  Liam said into the phone, making me smile. I just had to ask if I could bring Elle. She would kill me, but it would be worth it.

"That sounds great! Do you mind if Elle comes?" I replied, smiling. Elle looked at me, her mouth open wide. She shook her head, her hands motioning me to 'cut it out', but of course I didn't.

"Sure! I'm pretty sure Niall's taken a liking to her." He chuckled, and I laughed in return.

"Wouldn't that just be dandy? Pretty sure it's vice versa." I snickered, avoiding Elle's glare. "If you weren't handicapped, I'd rip your head off!" She yell-whispered. I smiled sweetly, then motioned to my leg. I didn't have to use the wheelchair anymore, but crutches were still needed.

"I'll see you later, Ames. Love you." He said sweetly, using his new nickname for me, 'Ames'. He decided he wanted to be different and call me something other than Ami, and we decided on Ames.

"Okay, bubs. Love you!" I called him any name I wanted to, and today I chose 'bubs'.

I hung up the phone and turned to Elle fully, who was staring at me with cold blue eyes.

"Looks like we're going on a double date!" I said happily, my hands clasping around my face. She groaned, flinging herself onto the couch in misery.

"Nicely done, Amelia, now I have to sit in torture with you and Liam. At least Niall is good company." She complained. "And now I have to get dressed!"

She walked over to her unpacked suitcase and rummaged through it messily. She pulled out a flannel and a pair of skinnies and flung them onto the floor. She then grabbed a pair of my boots and threw them next to the pile of her chosen clothes. "There we go."

She sulked into a different room to change, and came back with her makeup bag. "And now I have to go through the labor of putting on makeup."

"Quit your whining and help me choose something to wear!" I said, going to the closet where my clothes were nicely organized and hung up. I chose a pink flowery shirt that flowed nicely and put on a white cardigan. I then chose a pair of boot cut jeans and some sparkly TOMS, that were my absolute favorite pair of my 3 pairs of TOMS. I have an obsession with clothes and fashion, and try something new everyday.

"Cute." Elle complimented me, as I twirled around for her, giggling.

"When did all of this giggling start happening?" She questioned, tilting her head slightly. Her blonde hair was swept into a French braid as I replied.

"I don't really know. It just started happening when I first got here. Must be the British air!" I sighed, looking out our window into the streets below.

"Or was it when you met Li-Li?" Elle joked, using some stupid nickname she made up. I rolled my eyes, but I smiled still.

"Maybe. I don't know. Could be, he makes me feel so.. light and airy, you know?" I said, and she nodded, smiling now to herself.

"Yeah, I know the feeling. I do think that Liam's a good one. Try not to lose him, okay?" She said nicely, her blue eyes happy. Happy for me, or maybe happy for something I didn't know.

We made our way to the bottom of the stairs with me struggling with my crutches, tripping, and almost falling down the stairs before Elle caught my by my arm. The crutches clattered noisily down the stairs, and Elle had to retrieve them for me.

"Maybe we should take the elevator.." Elle stated, blowing a piece of hair out from her face. I readjusted my sock bun and shook my head.

"I refuse to ride that stupid thing ever again."

We made it to the bottom of the stairs, luckily in one piece, in which we met Liam and Niall waiting patiently.

"Hey, Ames." Liam said, hugging me and pecking my cheek.

"Hello, bubs." I replied, then laughing at Niall's confused face.

"Bubs?" He snickered, and Elle joined in.

"Shut up." Liam said, blushing a deep shade of red. My face felt hot, but I shook it off and ignored them.

"You're just jealous because you don't have a cool nickname like 'bubs'." I said huffily, frowning. Niall stopped laughing and stuck his tongue out.

"It's because I'm Irish, isn't it?" He joked, and I just laughed and took my place next to Liam, where I used my crutches terribly.

"So where are we going, dear bubs?" Elle said, grinning like a loon. Niall laughed insanely, and Elle smiled smugly.

"Well, Elizabeth-Anne, we're just going on a random walk and going into the first restaurant that looks appetizing."

"AMI, DID YOU TELL HIM MY NAME." She yelled, furious. I shrugged my shoulders, smiling wide.

"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. What's it to you?" I said, winking at Liam. He smiled.

"So Elle, where are you from originally?" Niall asked from behind Liam and I. I looked to Liam who grinned in my direction.

"Oh, I'm from New York, but I moved to Minnesota when I was really young. My dad grew up there, and he wanted me to get back to my 'roots'. My parents divorced a while back, and my dad got custody, then remarried. I really honestly hated it in that shitty town. But Amelia made it okay for me." She talked to Niall for a while, them asking questions back and forth while Liam and I made small talk.

"Where are you from, Irish?" She asked.

"Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland." He stated. I didn't dare to turn around, as Elle would just glare at me. So I looked ahead, watching for places I could trip on with my crutches.

"So Liam, should we continue our five questions game?" I piped up, turning my head to look at him.

"Sure! My turn!" He said, then thought of a question. "Do you have any special skills?"

"Nope!" I said, popping the 'p' with my lips.

"I bet you do." He said smiling. I shook my head.

"I can't beat box like you, that's for sure!"

"Okay, next question I guess. But now I'm determined to see if you have any special talents, and I will get one out of you!" He demanded.

"Okay, what's your opinion on gay marriage?" He asked, sounding curious. I thought for a while, not sure of the answer.

"Well, that's a hard one. It doesn't really concern me, so I don't really care if it happens or not. If they love each other, I guess, I don't see why not. I'm not one to judge. I mean, the religion I grew up on was all about no judging and all. So yeah, I guess I just don't really have much of an opinion on it." I said, feeling philosophical. That question has always bothered me, since my parents were definite 'anti-gay/lesbian' and weren't afraid to point it out.

"That makes sense. Next question. When did you have your first boyfriend?"

"Oh, that's an interesting story. It was this guy named Trent, and it was in 8th grade. We went out for like, 2 months. I decided middle school was too early for a relationship, so I broke up with him."

"Oh, and he was an asshole." Elle added, obviously listening to our conversation.

"Yeah, and that."

"Oh, that's nice." Liam said, laughing.

"Where is someplace you really want to go?" He asked, his hands tucking into his pockets.

"Anywhere tropical. I just love tropical places."  I decided, skillfully avoiding a crack in the sidewalk. My crutches wobbled a bit, but I steadied myself in time before falling on my face.

"Could you walk any slower?" Niall complained, Elle chiming in.

"Fine, walk ahead of us." I said, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk. They walked around Liam and I and we began to walk behind them.

"What's your favorite type of food? Like as in Chinese, Mexican, Thai and such." Liam finally said.

"Japanese. I love miso soup. I know, it's weird, but I've always loved it."

"Your turn!" He said, and I grinned, thinking of a question.

"Is there anyplace you'd like to visit?" I asked him.

"Not really in particular, but I would love to visit Hawaii again. It was stunning when we visited it." He decided, then looking up at the sky. I looked up as well, but saw nothing in particular.

"I've been to Hawaii, and I loved it. Such a beautiful place." I said dreamily, imagining the warm water on my toes, warm wind blowing through my hair, and the sun warming me and making me tanner than I'd ever been.

"Okay, what's your star sign?" I was never very into the whole astrology things, but it was something to talk about.

"Virgo." He replied, grinning. "I didn't know you were into that kind of stuff."

"I'm not, I just couldn't think of a better question." I replied, laughing.

"We need to find someplace to eat, like right now. I'm going to die of starvation over here." Elle complained, her head twisting to look at Liam and I. Niall's eyes widened and he grinned as well.

"I agree! This girl knows what she's talking about!" He declared, and Elle just smiled and winked at him. "I know, I'm perfect."

So we decided on a small restaurant with only a few people inside. They served only a small menu, but it definitely wasn't limited.

"I'll have the cheeseburger, please." Niall said, placing his menu facedown on the table.

"Me as well!" Elle said, slamming hers down.

"I'll just have the soup of the day. It's chicken noodle, right?" I decided, daintily handing the menu to our waiter. The waiter smiled at me and nodded, his eyes flickering to Liam.

"And you?" He said, sounding almost annoyed.

"I'll have the same as Ames." He said, his arm wrapping around my shoulders.

"Okay, would you like any drinks other than water?" He asked, his eyes sweeping to Elle. I then realized why he seemed so annoyed. He thought Elle was pretty. Like every single other guy. I rolled my eyes as I looked at my full water glass.

"You okay? You look mad." Liam chuckled, whispering into my ear.

"Nah, it's just I'm mad at the waiter. He needs to quit flirting with Elle. It's disgusting!" I murmured back, causing Liam to snort.

"He's not just fawning over Elle, Ames. He's paying too much attention to my dearie." He said back, as I shook my head in response.

"No, he is not!" I protested, smiling anyways. Liam just shrugged, still looking happy.

"Who are you talking about?" Elle asked.

"Nothing in particular." I replied mysteriously, grabbing Liam's hand under the table. His finger traced patterns into my palm, and my whole arm felt like there was electricity coursing through my veins. Now it was perfect. My favorite people at this small table, nothing to worry about, it caused me to feel giddy inside, which was strange. But I was learning to love it.
