That Brunette And Me

Amelia just moved to Britain from a small town, after having a terrible relationship with a past boyfriend. She meets superstar Liam Payne, but can she get over heartbreak, the wrath of Directioners, and being in fame? Or will she break under the pressure?

49. Breakfast.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked, turning onto the highway. Liam fiddled on my phone, turning on the GPS app.

"I really want a pastry." Perrie said, receiving a few agreeing voices. Then I remembered a bakery that I'd gone to when I was in Hawaii.

"Liam, look up Punalu'u." I demanded. It was a small bakery, but it was a little bit of a drive from Kona. I didn't think they'd mind, since we were going to go and be tourists anyways. "It's halfway between Kona-Kailua and the Volcano National Parks. I went there when I was younger. It tasted delicious."

"Um, the address is 95-5642 Mamalahoa Hwy, Naalehu, HI 96772. I have no idea if I said any of that right." Liam read off, his eyebrows raising.

"Close enough. Plug in that address and it'll tell us where to turn and stuff."

He plugged it in, and the phone immediately began speaking in a mechanical voice.

"After 125 yards, turn right." It said, and I kept going straight.

"That's more than a football field!" Elle exclaimed, causing everyone else except me to turn to her, confused.

"No, it's ninety yards! Everyone knows that!" Louis replied, frowning. Elle was about to fight back, but I interrupted.

"Elle means American football, you know, not what we call soccer."

We drove in silence a while, until the phone spoke up again. "Turn right in 20 meters." I calculated the turn, pulling the wheel carefully to the side until we were going down the new road. After a few more turns, and plenty more miles, a Punalu'u sign was in sight.

"What's the sign say?" Niall yelled desperately, turning to read the sign. His eyes were wide and he was clutching onto Elle's arm, who shook him off, smirking.

I laughed, looking at the road still. "It just said that it's on our next left. Calm down!"

Finally, we reached the next left, and we turned down it. The little bakery was right there, and it had a few tourists already filling the parking lot. There were plants surrounding it, just as I had remembered. I stopped the car and pulled out the keys, dropping them in my purse. We all got out of the car and walked into the yellow building. Inside was glass cases filled with pastries. My stomach growled, and I'm pretty sure everyone else's did as well.

"You guys have got to try the malasadas!" I said, briskly walking to the malasada section. They were a sugary pastry filled with any type of jam, pudding, or really anything. It just depended on the store. I had my first malasada here, after being recommended to try one. I had a vanilla one, and it was filled with vanilla pudding. It was delicious.

"Okay guys, what are you getting?" The person behind the glass cases asked. Her face was smiling, and she looked a bit older, like she'd worked here a while.

"I'll have a strawberry malasada," Elle called. "Oh, and a coffee please." The lady nodded, pointing at the younger guy working next to her. He started to take out her order.

"I'll have a vanilla malasada and a coffee please." I decided, smiling.

After everyone else had ordered, I brought out my wallet.

"Oh, no, no, no! You aren't paying." Liam said, pushing my wallet back in my purse. I frowned, but before I could reply, his card was on the counter.

"I'll pay you back." I pouted, grabbing our bag of goods. I grabbed my coffee, and walked into the outdoor room. It didn't have walls, it was just a small porch with a roof. There were tables out there, but not many people. We sat at the far edge so we could look at the little garden the bakery had made. There were dozens of different plants, including pineapple, coffee, and palm trees.

I could hear little birds chirping from behind, and watched them, amused as they hopped from table to table. I grabbed my malasada and took a bite.

"Mm.." I sighed, leaning back in the chair. Everyone else took a bite and did the same as me.

"These are incredible!" Harry exclaimed, grinning.

We sat back, content with our breakfast. I looked out to the garden, smiling. I loved it here, and I still couldn't believe I was actually in Hawaii again. After we all finished up, we stood, thanked the people in the shop, and walked into the garden to check out the exotic plants.

"What is that?" Zayn asked, staring at a spiky plant growing out of the ground. I pointed at the sign, smiling.

"It's a pineapple! Did you know that the top of the pineapple grows into another pineapple!" I grinned, happy I knew something they didn't.

Zayn's face grew red, as he walked away. He mumbled something, but I didn't catch it. I called after him, running. "What did you say?"

"Uh, nothing."

I crossed my arms, waiting. "C'mon. Spit it out."

"I thought.. that pineapples grew on trees." He said quietly, smiling a little smile. I laughed, shaking my head.

"My mom did too! I have family here, and they seriously could not stop laughing! And I honestly didn't know what the heck they grew on." I admitted. He laughed, walking with me. Liam caught up, walking next to me as well.

"Did you guys see Niall and Elle?" He said quietly, pointing ahead. I followed his finger with my eyes, spotting Niall and Elle. They were walking hand in hand, pointing out some of the beautiful flowers.

"Aw! That's so sweet!" I cooed, grinning. I knew it, I swear, from the beginning! Niall could not keep his eyes off of her! And Elle, well she might be oblivious to just about everything, but she knows a good man from a bad one. Except she usually chose the bad ones, for some odd reason I would never know. She's the one who told me Jake was no good.

"I thought that this would happen." Liam said quietly, smirking at Zayn. Zayn nodded back, and my mouth dropped open.

"Me too!" I laughed, remembering something. "Niall actually called me once, and I told him to go get her before it was too late, or before Harry got her."

"I told him that too!" Liam laughed. We all shut up when Harry walked up.

"What were you laughing about?" He asked, smiling. Zayn, Liam and I all looked at each other, hiding our smiles.

"Nothing interesting." I spoke up, containing my laughter. Harry's eyebrows furrowed as he glared at us.

"I'm watching you all." His fingers pointed at his eyes, then back at us. I shrugged, turning to look behind us before bursting into a full-blown grin.

We headed back to the bakery, following behind Elle and Niall. Louis and Eleanor caught up to us, and they smiled and cooed with us. Piled back into the car, everybody was pretty quiet.

"So, want to go to the volcano today?" I spoke, breaking the awkward silence.

"Uh, is it active?" Harry asked, his eyes wide.

"Well, yeah, but it's not going to explode on you." I joked, smirking at his frightened face.

"So that's a yes!" I shouted, turning on the car and backing out quickly. I followed the signs pointing to the volcano. It was only 10 o'clock, so we had plenty of time to get there.

"So what volcano is there?" Liam asked me, tapping in the volcanic parks into my GPS app.

"Actually, there's two. Mauna Loa and Kilauea. They're two of the world's most active volcanoes!" I grinned at Liam.

"That does not make me feel any better, Amelia." Harry grumbled, kicking the back of my seat.

"Don't make me come back there, Harold." I shot back, smirking. He sighed, stopping his kicking.

"Oh! And we can go to Mahana Beach! It's seriously the coolest beach ever!" I exclaimed, excited. It was one of the coolest beaches I had ever been in my entire life.

"Why is it so cool?" Liam asked, placing my phone on the middle console in the car.

"The sand is green!" I replied. His eyes grew wide, and he grinned back.

I shrugged. "I think it's volcanic sand. Not sure."

"More volcanoes!" Harry groaned. I laughed, shaking my head.

"And then we can go to Liliuokalani Park and Gardens in Hilo! Maybe I can text my cousins to meet us there, they live in Hilo." I said, glancing at the phone. It hadn't made a noise in a while, hopefully I hadn't lost my way already.

"What's Lee-loo-ka-ka or whatever..?" Niall shouted from the back.

"It's a park, first of all. Then it also has Japanese Gardens. I went there when I came here when I was thirteen."

"Turn right in 20 meters." The phone shouted out, surprising us all.

"Oh my gosh, 20 meters is so close!" I called out, turning on the blinker and turning the wheel quickly to catch the exit. Everyone complained about the sharp turn as soon as it was over. I rolled my eyes, driving into the parking lot of the visitor center.

"Oh c'mon guys, it wasn't that bad." I snorted, turning off the car and unbuckling. I opened my door, stepping out into the warm sun. I could already smell the volcanic air.

"It even smells like volcanoes!" Harry groaned, stepping carefully out of the car.

I looked over the visitor center, sighing. I missed this so much.
