Tess, 18, is making her Olympic dreams come true by making the British diving team. She wins bronze at her first ever Olympic games. England love her and she is all over the media. People like that don't stay at the top forever though. Do they?

1. Chapter 1

Chapter 1.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm beeping next to me. I reached my arm and quickly turned it off looking at the time, 4:30am. I jumped out of bed trying not to wake up my cat that was sleeping next to me and quickly got ready for diving. I don't mind waking up early in the morning; I'm used to waking up early seeing as I've done it for the past 12 years of my life.

In 2 weeks now I will be competing in my first ever Olympic games for diving. I have trained so hard and I couldn't be happier with where I am.

I grab a banana and my gear bag and head out the door of my flat in London. I climb into my BMW and chuck my bag onto the seat next to me.

The pools not far away from where I live which is convenient. I reach the pool and make my way inside the modern looking building.

"Hey Tom!" I chirped greeting him and placing my bag near his.

"Hey Tess it's just us and Anna this morning." Tom said smiling.

We practised our dives for nearly 2 hours perfecting them. Our coach doesn't want us getting hurt or injured so from now on it's only rest and making sure we get our dives right.

We walked over to where our bags are and I grabbed my phone to check the time. 7:10.

Arghh I should probably go to school today. We put our clothes on over top and walk out to our cars together saying out good-byes as we reached our own car. I drive back to my flat and have a quick shower. I put on some skinny jeans and a white tank top. I do my makeup lightly and then make my way into the kitchen and have a chocolate energy drink, brush my teeth and then make my way to school.

I hate school. Well I suppose I get it a bit easier than others because I have an "athletes exception" which means if I cannot complete my homework it's ok because they understand that I have a big commitment with my diving and blah blah. I just think it's an excellent excuse for me to not do homework seeing as I wouldn't do it anyways.

Some people at school really annoy me. I'm not the loudest or the most popular but I hate it when some people just try and use me because I'm going to the Olympics. I hate it when people come up to me and say "Oh my god you're friends with Tom Daley" or "Can you get me Tom Daley's autograph?" like Tom's my friend. I also hate it when people come up to me and say things like "Woah you're going to the Olympics" or "You're going to be on TV!" I'm never rude to them because that would be terrible for my image but there are times and places for that and school is not one of them.

I walked over to my locker and my best friend was standing there next to mine at hers.

"Hey, Jemma." I said unlocking my locker.

"Hey, how was your morning?" She asked knowing I had training.

"It was fun. What have you got first?" I asked her.

"Chemistry." She said sighing.

"Ok I'll see you later." I said and walked off to my first class, maths.

I sat down in my seat next to the most popular girl in school, Emily. I found Emily nice, sometimes. She was never mean to me which was good because we are in a seating plan.

"Hey." She smiled at me.

"Hi." I said and returned the smile.

"Oh my god, I don't want to be weird or anything. But you know how you will be at the closing ceremony for the Olympics?" She said excitedly.

"Yeah..?" I said slowly.

"Well oh my gosh, guess who's performing there?!" She said nearly screaming.

"Who?" I asked not really knowing. I know they always get big people in because they ceremony is amazing but the ceremony has never really cross my mind, I guess I have been so focused on diving.

"ONE DIRECTION!" She said far too loud because she was so excited by just their name.

"Oh yeah I think my friend Tom's friends with them." I said coolly and then kind of regretting it.

"OH MY GOD I forgot that you're friends with Tom Daley! He is so hot. Can you give me his number? You should really set us up on a date together." She said. I don't even know why people like her she is so clingy.

"Umm.. He has a girlfriend." I lied.

"Oh well that's too bad, maybe-" She was about to go on but was interrupted by our teacher.

"Alright class calm down." Mr Mitchell yelled from the front of the classroom. "Get out your homework!" Half the class groaned. This is the time when I don't move and just pretend that I'm so tired and my life is so hard. I probably could do my homework if I tried but I don't come to school often enough to get good marks for it.

Emily showed him her homework and then he moved on over to me.

"Where's your homework?" He asked me firmly.

"I didn't do it." I replied blankly.

"Tess, whether you don't have to do your homework or not you should still do it for your own sake." He said calmly.

"I haven't done my homework all year." I said, "Anyway my coach told me not to." I finished stubbornly.

"Well now's a good time to start." He said with a fake smile.

I looked at him like he was the biggest idiot on Earth. "I have the Olympics in 2 weeks." I replied returning the fake smile.

"Oh, well very good then. I'm sorry, my mistake." He said embarrassed and quickly moved on to the next person. The class started laughing at his actions.

"SILENCE!" Mr Mitchell yelled causing the laughter to die down.

I don't think this day could have gone any longer. The bell ringed and I was so excited to get out of there. I said my good-byes to my friends and told them I will try and make it one more day before the games, but I probably won't. I will see them before there anyway.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket as I made my way to my car. I unlocked it and I had 1 new message.

From: Tommm :)

"Tess! Have a full team meeting with team Britain tomorrow! I'll pick you up at 9. :)"

Woah. A meeting with all the English competitors that should be exciting.

I replied:

Wow! Thanks see you there! :)

Tonight I have a meet up with my sport physiologist and dietician which isn't too bad.

I go home and get ready and have an apple before I leave. I guess it's kind of weird going to school and living on your own. My parents split up a few years ago and my dad took off. My mother and I were fine and happy until she found a wealthy man and they decided to travel for a whole year and just left me. She promised she would fly back to watch me compete though. I hope she does.
