1. Fire and water

*Nickie's POV*

"Jake, where are you taking me?" I asked my best friend, that I secretly had a crush on.

"I am not telling you, it would ruin the surprise."

He had my wrist and we were running down the beach behind my house, once we made it to my boats he made me get into the other end of the peddle boat.

"Jake," I whined. "You know I hate surprises."

"I know, but you’re going to like this one." He must have seen the look on my face because he started talking again.

"Look, I know you don't like surprises but please, please, trust me, just go with it this one time, PLEASE?" He pleaded.

"Fine." I said.

He laughed. "You can stop peddling now." He said.

I looked up and realized I was making us go in circles.

He took out this walky talky and spoke into it.

"Ok, now." He said into it, then he pointed up.

We made it out to the middle of the lake and he stopped. I wasn't paying attention so I just kept on peddling. I was smiling at the reflection of the moon in the waves. It was so beautiful.

I was amazed at the sight, it was fireworks. They were exploding all over the night sky. I was now smiling and laughing. I looked at him.

"How?" I asked.

"I know a guy."

I laughed and looked back up, then my smile left and then came a surprise. The next firework was the best. It said "Will you be my Valentine?" I was smiling brighter than the sun.

I looked at him and he was looking at me.

"Will you?" He asked.

I shook my head yes, and I know it was kind of babyish but I started to cry a little, it was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me. I reached out for a hug and we hugged.

"You know I have liked you for a while right?" He asked me smiling.

"No, I didn't, but so have I."

We paddled back to shore and got out of the boat. He grabbed his bag he had brought with and took out a big green blanket. Then out came stuff for a picnic. I was laughing. We laid the blanket down and sat down, had our picnic, and talked.

"I have one more thing." He said.

"And what is that?" I asked.

He reached into his bag again.

"These." He said handing me a box of candy hearts.

I laughed.

"I love these."

"Me too." He said opening his.

We just laid down and watched the stars while talking and eating candy hearts. It was the best Valentines I had ever had.

That night we camped out and spent the whole next day together...as boyfriend and girlfriend.
