The moment you realize you're in love is so different from all the other moments you'll experience.

1. Chapter 1. (One Shot)

Let's just start off by saying this; once you fall in love with someone you have feelings for that person for the rest of your life. You may forget about them, you may deny the feelings hidden in your heart; but once you see their face and hear their, oh, so familiar voice that once sounded like a choir of angels to your ears, the feelings flood back into your mind, into your heart, they rush through your veins because the feelings aren't just a mind game. Those unpredictable things flood your body; the emotional and physical features of your body. The moment you realize you fall in love is an unforgettable moment. It's like realizing that all you ever wanted was right there in front of you; realizing that the fantasies of finding your perfect soul mate finally became real life.

You want to smell their familiar scent that you grew to love from holding them close to you. You want them to touch you with the touch you memorized so well. You want to try to forget; but you can't.

I fell in love last spring in April to be exact with a man who went by the name Miles. We had been officially a couple for a year, three months, and a day, and that day that made it three months and a day, he said something to me that I didn't see coming at all and it threw me head over heels in love with him. I never thought that I could fall in love at such a young, careless age. Being sixteen you just want to have fun, you know? That's not what I found in the midst of my second actual relationship.

Miles brushed his lips against mine briefly and dragged them to my ear where he whispered the sweetest thing in my ear. "Alaska," he rarely ever called me by my name and when he did it was time to be serious, "I want to be with you forever. You made my best dreams become a reality and my worst nightmares fade away. You make my grey skies turn to blue and my stomach fill with butterflies with every glance. I never thought I'd feel this way at sixteen, but it's funny how much you changed me. I honestly think I've fallen in love with you.”

My heart came to a halt, my breathing hitched, and my brain stopped functioning. I remember thinking to myself- actually my brain stopped functioning, I don't remember thinking anything. My head was spinning and Miles’s head was pulled back and his eyes were boring into mine waiting for a simple response. I thought to myself of all the emotions that were flowing through my body and realizing some were excited, some were fear, and some were love. I didn't know whether to respond with words or simply answer with a kiss. My stomach flip flopped and then I built up the courage to admit the feelings I never thought I’d experience at sixteen. “I’m in love with you,” I looked down at my feet and went up on the balls of them. I bit my bottom lip and smiled to myself knowing that I was one of the lucky ones who gets to experience love like this at a young age. Within a matter of seconds, my feet were lifted off the ground and my small figure was taken in by a strong set of arms. The rest in permanently etched into my mind and worth the time it’d take to tell the story, but mostly just something I’d like to reflect on in my mind.

To really explain the moment you realize you’re in love is like trying to explain the smell of a unicorn. It’s simply impossible.
