Lock And Key

I'm so sorry I haven't been able to make covers, but my things stopped working, so i can't make them! I spend ages designing, and it won't save!!! Urg!!!

This is a story that I began in the past, but have edited to make it fresh. This is something different to my usual style, so please feel free to leave comments, or add.

Callum Wolden is 15.
Nervella Carness is 15.
He's the athletic Popular sort.
She's the book and pen sort.
But when they're forced to work together in a Music Project, things begin to head up hill...

6. Damn.

Nervella's P.O.V.

School was a whole death-pit the next day. It was on my way to last lesson that I remembered we actually had Homework due in, and I hoped more then anything that Miss Robberts wouldn't notice. I made my way into the classroom, where Miss stood at the front, directing my peers to their asigned seat.

I almost screamed out loud when I realised we had a seating plan. I prayed that the seating plan would distract her, and I prayed even harder that I wouldn't be seated beside Callum. It would be really akward.

"Nervella...at the back."

She pointed towards the corner of the table, and I nodded slightly, and made my towards the seat. As I did so, their was a sudden crowd of bustling students entering into the classroom. Miss was so busy trying to catch everybody's names before they were seated, that she'd completely messed up her hair with frustration.

"Callum...beside Nervella."

As soon as my name was spoken, I looked up, to directly meet Callum's gaze. He looked like he wanted to die there and then, and I tried my best to put my most adgitated glare on. I was sure it didn't work because there was no rection, and he dumped his bag beside me and sat down on his new seat.

We didn't speak, and we didn't touch.

I heard somebody call over to Callum 'Unlucky!' and he laughed playfully, but I glared at him and he muttered a 'What you looking at?'

I suddenly had my own wave of 'Kill me now', and tried to concentrate on the words that spilt out of Miss Robberts mouth.

"This term, we'll be doing to the topic of 'Music Skills and Band Structure'. She sat herself down at her desk and began unclipping some sheets, then she handed them to Angelia who passed them round to everybody.

"I would like you all the fill in these little questionaires, and when I find out everybody with matching answers, they'll be paired up and sent off to do something creative in the Practise Rooms".

That earnt her a few dirty giggles, and in my head I thought 'Miss, you really should catch on with the defination creative'.

Name: Nervella.

Instrument Skills: Keyboard.

Are you confiedent to sing: Not sure.

Pair or Group: Pair.

One Person you wouldn't like to work with (Just in case your matched with somebody who'll cause arguments or you won't get along well with): Callum Wolden.

When I'd finished the questionaire, I couldn't help but wonder why the last question mattered. I knew something was a little crazy about it, but no-body else seemed to care, so I handed it to Miss when she came round to collect them all.

She told us all to get out our folders and finish any uncompleted work while she checked all the questionaires.

Lucia passed me my folder, and I flicked through, checking my work for mistakes or worksheets with half the work done.

After 10 minuets or so, Miss had come to a conclusion.

"I have paired all your sheets up with other peoples sheets. When I pass a certain person their sheet, it will hold the other persons sheet. Some of you won't have a sheet because your sheet is with somebody elses. Check immediatly so we can get on with the rest of the lesson."

Miss handed the sheets to Angelia who handed them out again, and when I noticed I'd been given one of the sheets, I pulled away the second sheet. There were groans all around the classroom, and I knew something was going to be a surprise.

When I checked the sheet, I could feel Callum's eyes piercing into the sheet from beside me.

"Who have you got?"

I dumped the sheets on the table and began to bite at my nails. It was a nasty habbit, but it happened whenever I was nervous or upset.

"Great" I heard Callum mutter.

"Yeah, well I'm not happy either" I replied moodily.

Miss gave us a brief explaination, and then sent us off to the the practise rooms. Their were only 4 pairs out of the whole class, and sadly, Callum and I were one of them. I chose the practise room without any complaint from Callum, and sat at the piano, where I gazed at the white and black keys, my head bursting with thoughts.

"Any ideas what we should play?" Callum tried, and sat on the desk behind me.

I shrugged.

"I don't know alot on the Piano. Can you play anything on the Guitar?"

"You looked at my sheet!"

"I was supposed too!"

Great, my mind screamed. Somebody who's going to cause arguments for the rest of the term!

I tried out a couple of keys for Rebecca Ferguson's Backtrack, but with Callum being so moody, and the fact that I was actually paired with him, clouded my thoughts.

"Hey, that was alright" Callum spoke, joining me at the Piano. It made my heart jump and my body shake when he sat beside me on the Piano stool. He pressed a few keys, and shivered.

"Can't play Piano" then he got up and scanned the small room for a guitar. There was a light chestnut coloured one tucked in the corner, and he picked it up, and strummed a few of the strings.

"Maybe I could learnt the notes and we could both play an instrument. I think it's a cool song choice."

I had no idea why he was being so friendly all of a sudden. I didn't like him and I was sure he didn't like me either.

Suddenly, all the notes came rushing back like a Tsunami. I placed my fingers on the keys, and suddenly, the whole song flowed out of me. I couldn't finish playing until I knew the song had ended.

I think Callum was quite taken aback. He stood statue-still for a moment, holding the guitar in his hands. Then he dumped it on the desk he'd only just sat at, and joined me at the Piano again.

"Can you sing as well?"

His face fell.

"We could have totally gotten a high grade" he sighed.

"Why do you care all of a sudden?"

"I like music. I'm not just a trouble-maker, Nervella."

I was quite surprised he even knew my name at all.
