The Trash Bin of Cliches

This is a series of shorts about the life of established author, Willow Parker.

Whilst living in London with her best friend Kennedy, Willow gets writer's block. Something she deals with by getting, what was supposed to be a temp job, at The Agency: a company that is invested in a bunch of media industry fields. While helping out with a photo shoot Willow meets one of the world's most coveted bachelors, Sawyer Huntington, one of the boys from the internationally popular group Once Upon.

Thanks to one of her new model friends, Yvonne, Sawyer gets his hooks into her and she wakes up after a night of partying with someone else's boxers on. After that it's one thing after another, starting again when Once Upon books their new music video shoot with The Agency. When she is mistaken for an extra and Sawyer picks her to play the opposing role in his scene, sparks fly, now all Willow has to do is try not to catch fire.

2. The Video Game Gamble: 5th September 2011

They’re at Tyson’s right now, Sawyer is sitting in front of her, Tyson beside him, both getting creamed by Tyson’s fiancée, Cecilia, in Left for Dead 4. When they all die Cecilia looks at both of them in resentment.

“We were winning, what did you blockheads do that for?!”

“You were winning darling,” Tyson says, though he’s smiling, he looks quite scared, “I was just doing my best to keep up, don’t know what Sawyer was doing though.”

“That’s right, blame it on the one who doesn’t live here but has dirt on you from the past 4 years.”

“I have no secrets from Ceec,” Tyson says, crossing his arms as if he’s just saved everyone and feels unappreciated for it, Ceec shakes her head, gets up, and kisses him on the cheek.

“Want something to eat Willow?” She smiles kindly.

“Yes, please, do you need any help?”

“No, I’ll be fine. Nacho’s okay?”

“You’re a saint.”

Ceec laughs as she gets up to head to the kitchen. Willow likes her, she’s very nice, and can keep a conversation going even when Willow’s awkwardness kicks in.

“Does she know about the time you woke up naked next to-” Sawyer starts.

“Yes,” both Tyson and Ceec answer in unison as she leaves the room.

“What about that time in Australia in the Dive pub when-” He raises his voice and Tyson’s expression changes from calm to panicked.

“What’s that Ceec? You need help with the cheese!” He scrambles up and runs out into the hall.

“Well, why wouldn’t you let him finish?” She faintly hears Ceec from the kitchen laughing.

Feeling  pressure on her knees she looks back straight ahead and sees Sawyer, his hands using her legs as a brace to get him up on his knees until he’s face to face with her. His fingers now making little paths along her thighs, his expression amused as he watches the goose-bumps appear where his fingertips lingered last. His green eyes make contact with hers and she pushes back the conversation she had with Yvonne and Kennedy the week after the last time they kissed, when she proved them wrong about how long it’s been since she last had a physical connection with someone. Kennedy looked betrayed, like the first time she forgot to tell her she was over her top celebrity crush, and Yvonne looked overjoyed. Excitedly babbling something about the adorable green eyed babes they would have.

“What about the Australian pub?” Her voice comes out uneven and he smiles.

“I’ll tell you,” his face leans in a little, “But it comes with a price.”

“You’re a little devil,” She leans forward more.

“Someone’s got to be,” He closes his eyes and his hands are now still and warm, fingers splayed across her skin. She closes in the space.

As his teeth nip at her lip she lets out a little moan and he pulls back a bit, looking overtly proud at what he’s done. “Oh, sod off and kiss me.”

She runs her nails lightly up his arm and he shudders, almost unnoticeably, but it was definitely there. And they are back. Her one hand running her nails along his right arm and the other caressing his cheek and framing his jaw. He opens his mouth a bit and his tongue dances around hers, she has to stop herself from arching her back. She licks his bottom lip and his breath wavers, pulling back their eye to eye again, then his mouth is back on hers, lips crushing and needy.

“Hello, this is my apartment, and that is my couch,” Willow leans back and sees Tyson. She opens her mouth to apologize, knowing her cheeks are already red from the kiss and about to go some sort of awful maroon colour from embarrassment.

“Hello, this is Willow Parker, and I am kissing her,” Sawyer says, and he looks far too proud of himself. So she raises an eyebrow, punches him in the arm and pushes him away from her. “Ouch, what was that for?”

“I’m hungry,” She gets up and walks towards the kitchen, high-fiving Tyson on her way out the door.

“I knew I liked her for a reason,” she hears Tyson laughing as she enters the kitchen.
